As for the trim, I say try the dark and if you absolutely don’t like it, it’s just paint and you can change it. Doors look amazing.

Designer here, do the white trim, but a semi gloss so its easy to wipe off. Gina, thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family. My daughter and the ureter reconstruction surgery as an infant, it went well and she's all grown up and has no other issues. God's Got This!
Yes!! I was going to say this. I think the white trim would make the windows and doors pop! The dark colors would make things too dark.

As a totally non-designer person, when I saw the dark grey my first thought was, "If you're going that dark just do black!" So, I agree with AL on that one. Praying for Gina. I have a close friend who had the exact same procedure. It's definitely inconvenient for a time but she's all good now. Gina will be too. 🙏❤️

Excellent choice on that square-backed knob upstairs! They look great. You won't regret painting the trim the same color as your doors. That gray you are using is a beautiful pop & will hide the smudges well. Gina, you will be in my prayers. All in God's timing!

I've always been afraid of color, too, but as trim, I think the darker color will be a great contrast to the light walls. It will definitely be a bonus for cleaning!
Color advice for your new home: trim color should match your walls or doors or be lighter than your door color. If you paint it dark, it will look busy and draw too much attention. Remember you do not have your furniture or your life in the space yet and you need everything to bring the look together. I am an interior designer/color artist so hope that helps. We have watched your channel for a few years and have enjoyed your journey and wish you both the best with your new home. Also many prayers for your surgery and healing too!

From a graphic designer who studied color theory. The dark color trim against the lighter colors will pop, and should look amazing. I know using bold colors can be scary, but I believe it will look amazing!

I'm in the darker gray camp. If you don't like it later, you can always paint it a different color. But for right now, just "get'er done" you got critters to move, and surgery to recover from before snow flies.
Did the doctor approve the stairs for after surgery? I'm assuming so, otherwise you'd be getting ready for one last winter in the old house. Either way, I'm praying.

I don't agree and think the darkest color is too much and will draw too much attention to each door in a way that makes the doors stand out as the prominent features in the room.

I believe the darker grey of the trim will set off the cabinets, doors, black doorknobs, and cabinet pulls beautifully. I believe it will look really good in the bathroom with your shower too. Will be praying for you to have a speedy recovery without complications for Gina. Loving how your big tiny house is coming out.
We have painted our trim the same as doors in last two houses. I love the look.

Al and Gina keep the faith. As a retired surgeon in the NEK after 35 years of practice I found your video bringing me to tears. Our 9 year old daughter was diagnosed with inoperable brainstem glioma. The worst day in our lives. She survives today with our 1st grandchild. You both can weather this storm. Love you vicariously. Craig

The build looks great, Gina and Al. Most of us have seen such house builds and know it’s a mess. Things get cleaned up once all the painting, electric fittings, doors, etc are finally all installed. Then, it (finally!!) looks like a home, and success.

Thoughts and prayers to you and the family. My wife had emergency surgery on her colon about 3 years ago to save her life. She awoke from surgery with a colostomy bag and, when she had her strength back, she had another surgery to reverse the colostomy. Three years later, her life is back to normal and that experience is remembered as her "unfortunate incarceration". God is faithful and we celebrate our love and life every day.

Good Morning Gina, Al and Olivia! I've watched you with projects through the years! Your medical issues are another project and it sounds like your team of Doctors are amazing! As a retired police officer, due to cancer, and now a nurse it sounds as if you are in the best hands of all. God has put your team together. You are handling this amazingly, it's very stressful. However, you have the Greatest Doctor in charge in our Lord and Saviour! Heavenly Father we ask that you touch our medical team. Give them your wisdom, guide their hands and touch their hearts with compassion and empathy as only you can. Gina, I know that you will come through this with flying colors! I think the dark trim would be an amazing contrast to the white cloud walls with the steel wool doors. Keep the black in the bathroom using a semi-gloss -charcoal grey oil base and not latex for the interior bathroom trim.
Hang in there Gina, we are praying for you. It will come to an end. God uses these instances to strengthen us. I went through 13 surgeries, God and my wife helped me get through it. Al is so supportive. We Love your family.

For the door trim, I say if Al wants flat black, I think that’s what it should be. He’s done so much work, as has Gina. No matter what y’all decide, it will look great ❤️😊
Flat paint is the easiest to damage and the hardest to clean. The hardness and washability increases with the sheen of the paint.
I think maybe do one door, and live with it a few days to see if it works. Then take it from there.

BIG prayers from NC. Im 33 and went from running heavy equipment/ and mini excavators to building houses. And recently been doing a lot of finish carpentry. I’ve been watching for a year or more and enjoy every min I watch. I pick up ideas and tips from Al all the time 😂. But really, he is very talented. You both are to say the least.

for the trim; mid grey, a bit darker than the doors. Your first mistake: should have put the outlets above the height of the freezers. Easier for access.
my honey built me a little dolly for the freezer that needs to move. it is lovely to just swing it out of the way when needed.
Putting the outlet above the freezer is a bad idea. I hate seeing the cords showing.
@@elainem9909 I'm with you on that. I thought the idea of the higher outlets are for vacuuming the room or other tools in that room. They might put a fan in there. Who knows what they might plug in to work in that room?

When it comes to the trim, embrace the dark side. If it was me, I would go with the similar sheen to the surrounding paint or even a high gloss, and not the flat finish. Some say things are looking messed up, but I say it is evidence of some great work that has been done. Things will look just fine once the dust litrerally settles.
