  • This is a 2019 Audi Q7 but should be the same for other years also. This is how to remove the front caliper to do the front brakes. There is a special bolt that Audi does not want you to remove. So just take off the whole mounting bracket that has 21mm headed bolts. The torque spec for the 21mm headed bolts is 196 Nm.
    This video was made as a demonstration on how to repair things and should not be done with out the proper training and safety equipment. Please if you don't have the ability to do these demonstrations, don't try and get a professional to do it for you.

    Sigh...we removed the special bolts (bought the 7 pin tool) now Audi voided entire car warranty and telling us we now need to replace both calipers. Seems very strange as only a carrier bracket. Thanks for the video...wish I had seen this prior to the removal.

      I would never own one.

      What? No. There's no way that couldn't legally happen, at least not in the US. Voiding warranty is only limited to the part involved. You can't void radio warranty, for example when you screw up the brake, just saying.

      Why did you even mention it to Audi?

      Quelle risque ils y a de dévisser les 2 boulons spéciaux ?

      @@taxidenis43 None at all...but they (Audi) deemed it enough to consider the warranty void.

      If you have the caliper off I use a big pair of channel lock pliers and a piece of wood on the out side so I don't scratch the caliper.

    G automotive, is it possible for you to confirm if 2019 Audi e-tron has the same caliper? Look wise, they seem the same. But pls confirm if possible.

      They do not have that. If you loosen the bolts that you were not supposed to take out they want you to replace the calipers now. The 21mm headed bolts are 196nm or 145ft lbs

    Did you reuse the bolts or replaced them as recommended by Audi. They don’t appear to be TTY bolts.

    • @TheGAutomotiveAndMore
      @TheGAutomotiveAndMore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It said to replace the bolts if they are self locking, then it said if reusing bolts to clean them and torque them to 196 nm or 145 ft lbs. They say one thing and contradict in the next sentence. They are really big bolts I just reuse them.

      I've searched the internet high and low for the torque value on those bolts. I kept seeing 270 nm / 200 ft lbs based on the little info I could find on forums. Do you know if that was the torque for the bolts you said not to remove? I'm so confused with the contradicting info. Did you get the 196nm/145 ft lbs from a repair manual? Any clarity you could provide would be very much appreciated. Thanks@@TheGAutomotiveAndMore

    • @TheGAutomotiveAndMore
      @TheGAutomotiveAndMore  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@brians2918 They do not give the torque for the bolts because you are not suppose to remove them. That is why It has a socket head that no one has. The 196nm/145ft is for the 21mm headed bolt that holds the caliper bracket to the spindle. That is right out of Shopkey pro.

    Why doesn't Audi want you to remove those special bolts? And have the common brake squealing on our 2018 Q7.

    The internet can save you thousands if you handy enuff to work with tools. No such thing as a shade tree! So what then he's a shade tree at home but a professional at Pep boys or a dealership?! Make it make sense?!
