- Between J Cole bowing out of "the beef", and Kendrick Lamar and Drake telling lies on one another; I thought why not take it back to the true essence of when rap battles were actually......rap battles.

dope video. It's all happening. 🏆
Appreciate you TCM!! Stay dope 🤙🏾
No Vaseline was a mortar shell and, in my lifetime, the greatest diss record of all time.
Euphoria, Meet The Grahams or Not Like Us are 1.5. Checkmate in the Top 10. South Bronx/The Bridge is Over up there. DJ Quik's Dollaz n Sense my number 2.
Kendrick proved he's not to be fucked with. Drake came to meme; Dot came to snatch his spine out his body.
Fatality!
THANK YOU!! NO VASELINE CAN’T BE TOUCHED. IF SO I HAVE NOT HEARD IT. LL COOL J GOT ROCKED BY KOOL MOE D WHEN MOE D TOOK THOSE L’S AND USED THEM IN EVERY DEROGATORY WAY IMAGINABLE. I do want to thank him for his opinion though. 😊
For Mortals i agree but the Godz know the multiple battle tracks of Canibus is the seal of Battle Raps
Saw Cube perform it live. Same exact energy as 30 yrs ago 💪
you cant have a song full of lies told like there facts, be the top diss song. that's Madness.
Nobody talks about this song anymore. When this came out I was so hype & I was only 8 yrs old, but I knew that Jada did something special.
It stands the test of time, I'll put it up against any diss track‼
@@tdsnuggs Facts, every line is pure 🔥

whenever we bump heads since you like having ppl with you, get you a hospital with bunk beds
@@shamargreen3388without dr Dre u would just make slow jams come up outta that witness protection program
Common’s “The Bitch In Yoo” is up there too.
Great breakdown….you got my vote! 💯✊🏾
Common may be the first "conscious rapper"to beef a "gangster rapper" 😂🤔
Appreciate that Rafael🫡
Checkmate is one of the best jadakiss left no stone unturned
Dollaz + Sense by DJ Quik is my favorite diss but this one is up there as well
That comes 2nd to No Vaseline. That song was slept on!
Steve Jobs by Lupe is underrated. I was pulling for Royce, but Lupe put him in a casket.
Lupe is on another level. Even kdot won't go to war with him
@@TweakkkkkkEven nothing Lupe been hating Kendrick for years
@@TheMiaboi22even everything Kendrick don’t want that smoke
@@yuhbtw word
@@yuhbtwstop it, Lupe apologized to Kendrick not the other way around
Crazy I just seen you cover this. During that Kendrick/Drake I found myself going back to listen to this song. It’s aged like a fine wine and he really did predict 50s trajectory music wise
Ice Cube No Vaseline is by far the best diss song of all time, N.W.A was never the same afterwards, even the group members themselves admit they had no come back.
Agree
this is valid
Facts
EL P's diss"Linda Trip", where he recorded Sole and the other one he did on esoteric where great. Checkmate was masterfull, but it was only a single verse. IMO, euphoria is the best diss ever, since it contains no hypotheticals. Meet the grahams might be even better as a character assasination but it got kinda overshadowed by the hidden daughter allegations (which are not as impactful as the pdf allegations for which we have actual video proof lol). Nice video, subscribed!
'Euphoria' is brilliant. The beat switches match the temperament of Kdot. But 'Checkmate' is special; two verses that landed the same amount of punches as 'Euphoria', imo.
Appreciate that‼Stay locked in with me🫡
This will go over so many peoples heads. The break down is on point. Good ish dope Sh!t
Appreciate that TDunn 🫡
💯 THIS WAS NEEDED. NOBODY WENT IN LIKE THIS
Agreed. Checkmate is best than pretty much everything in the category. It's a strong battle round over wax.
Your 💯on this being the best diss track. I met Jada at Foxwoods and chatted about Fred The Godson with him. As he was walking away I yelled out checkmate best diss track hands down. It stopped him dead in his track he turned and smiled.
Mf a villain😭😭
Ms Jackson by Jada and Styles also another heavily underrated diss
Very underrated and it's probably my favorite. Damn I'm rhyming and wasn't trying to 😂
On miss Jackson jada said.... "I did a song with Ja Rule bigin' the city up....she (50) did the magic stick remix with Olivia" 😂😂
@@JohniArmani I really believe kiss don’t even be trying 😂😂he been slapping niggas for damn 30 years
Really appreciate this video.
Great video...I am proud that I was alway the weird ngga that feels this same exact way about Shots Fired by Kiss and Styles. I think that was the rawest diss track...not of all time but still dangerous.
Also, "Problem Child" prolly hit even harder.
Awesome video.
Thank you!!!
The Breakdown of the song starts @5:40
Peace‼🫡
Jermaine jackson went at micheal jackson on wax..google it
This is classic sh*t... Yo, you gotta do that Beanie Sigel "Put Your Hands Up"(jadakiss diss)...Sigel murked the hell out of that, one the best diss tracks ever...But yea man, keep droppin, this is Dope!...💯

@@tdsnuggs vamuse son of a kiss.lol
@@tdsnuggs beans was nasty on the mic as well, he said I'ma son kiss like a soda. And Jada replied on a disco beat. That battle was underated and just barz every where. What a great time for music for sure.
i remember radio stations playing checkmate in constant rotation when it dropped! good work
no one talks about Checkmate enough
Because they doesn't consider this as top notch diss like Nas and Tupac diss songs which is sad tbh with you.
Fuk kiss and dblock Gunit 4l Lloyd Banks 🐐💯
FACTS!!!!!!!
@@ericamalone3245 clowns y'all lame fuk dblock lil man gunit 4l Lloyd Banks 🐐
Illest thing about it is Checkmate aint even Jada's hardest 50 Cent diss record. Sorry Ms Jackson flame grills 50
Man I've been saying this s*** for years. I really like the way you elaborated on it, newly subscribed.
Ok but Nas response to Piggy Bank was only a warming shor , yet 50 aint ever said a word bad about him since , thata cold , he didnt even have to press the button , just threatening to press the button was enough to make 50 "back down"
Are you referring to "Queens Get The Money" off Untitled?
Dont body yourself @@tdsnuggs
@@adammarsh956 yea NaS Son’d 50 cent on that shows you he do wtf he wants
Nah Nas made him shut up after he released “Don’t Body Yaself”
Not surprising..50 is avg Rapper..
Agreed. Kiss absolutely murdered Fif, so dope it was on repeat on radio stations all the way on the west out here in Vegas.
jadakiss checkmate is my favorite diss track coming out of nyc. the other ones are mase orcale and the subliminals from biggie
Mase and Cam are best buds now 😂. Biggie was wild with the subliminal i.e the freestyle he did in l.a
That alchemist beat omg
@@quan144 originally a Big Noyd/Havoc beat 🔥
Not better than ether or takeover
50 getting shot got people to listen him making hits having 4 of the top 5 songs on billboards at the same time is why he made it. 50 flow wasn't the weakest in the g unit crew and the ghetto Quran was not snitching everything in that song was past tense. Check mate was good but wasn't 100 percent true and kiss is one of my favorites so I'm well beyond bias
Commenting before I watch the video to say I am still rather new to hip hop and listening but enjoy it thoroughly and I believe it’s one of the best ways to use spoken word to get a point across although be it sometimes it’s something that’ll go over the listeners head the first few listens it shows the craft and art in it, this song is new to me so I am gonna enjoy this video and just gonna sub based off that alone
Your videos are so dope!
Aye I appreicate that 606, stay locked in‼
Im A 73 born baby From Newark, New Jersey
And have been a jada kiss fan from day one.. This video is all facts. He murdered fifty with this one
Kiss, is it my top 5 Dead or live Without question.
I will never forget the first time I heard this track. I was at work listening to Hot 97 and they debut this on the RADIO. Fifty had just recently broken the sales record that Kiss mentions at the start of the track and then he just spazzes on the mike for 2 and a half minutes. Each line hit harder and harder and when it was over I just wanted to hear it again. I have listened to this track probably over 300 times since (I lost my iTunes play count a while back). I usually have to listen to it back to back whenever I listen to it and almost 20 years later it still hits just as hard as it did back then.
That record was hype and all but there nothing like Beanie’s diss against Kiss. It was like Tyson actually beating Holyfield or something. In the history of beefing btw the flame of all involved kinda burns out though. They stay famous but the music is not the same after.
Just to hear the history of hip hop and why dissing is a big part of it, it being not too long of description makes it easier to digest too
thanks man
This warms my heart! I thought I was the only one feeling this was the best diss track of all time!!
Thank you for those suggestions Zano
Yooooo, every time I heard 50 chiming in on Kendrick/Drake and people saying 50 don’t lose, I was like wait, Checkmate? Even Clickitty Clank by Sheek was a banger.
i def agree Jada won but public perception def swayed it cuz that piggy bank was still nice and 50 just had way more fans
This and ether was my top 2 favorite diss tracks in my era
To be completely honest, the "I'm sorry miss Jackson" diss track went harder than checkmate. IYKYK 💯. Most people don't even know that track! The instrumental was a diss in itself. Genius 👏🏾
They better leave them Geminis da fuck alone! Ice Cube, BIG, Pac, Kiss, and King Kendrick. Team Gemini.
that's a supreme line up
😂
Dont forget about 3000 & Lauryn Hill
Yeah prince is in that line up too.
I don't want to say anything else😂😂😂❤
Big L and Kanye
Finally!and the o.g noyd is hard
2nd rd KO is a top 3 diss track...Officer Down is another overlooked track that was phenomenal.
Should do beanie Siegel disses jadakiss - about to son kiss like a soda
I can't lie, I ain't never heard Kiss get Soned by anyone
@@JayJones-s6u u should get out more then
He got the line from jay-z...
Searched for this comment, Kiss one of the dopest but he was punching out his weight class vs Beans.
Crazy cuz ive been saying this since checkmate dropped. I never understood why no one ever mentions it in atleast top 5 diss records.
I been saying this,,This and Ether are Dope because they're speaking nothing but Facts
Didn't 50 pay jada and styles after all this to be on his record "chase the paper" ? Lmao 50 had jada on another dope track called "irregular heartbeat" after this beef and when Im hearing I can't help to think they're indirectly going at each other on it. It's a great record
This was dope
Shots Fired by him and Styles P is my fave of all the disses
sheek went crazy with the disses too
Jada and SP bullied 50 on that one, and yeah, Maybe If I Sing was a raw and funny as hell
The Gza "Paper Plates" . Is a savage 50 diss track
yup that was high science
@@tdsnuggs 👐 fiddy got smoked .
That's why all my battles I've head i tried to end careers before they started .. nobody i had beef with raps now lol
Bruh u trippin on this one. I can tell u were kind of young in that generation. Checkmate is a cool lil diss but it isn’t even a top 20 diss record. The joint he had going at beans harder than this.
And the joint with Beans going at Jadakiss was harder than his. He wouldn't stop rapping!
Could have a whole separate video about NY hip hop beef. Maybe could do one just between artists within NY alone, not even when they beef with surrounding areas.
This video came off as uninformed at best.
Facts
I'm 55 and the best to me was boogie down production dissing Mc Shan and Queens. Even tho I'm a Queens fan but this diss move the streets. But before that it was Kool Moe D dissing Busy B. What a diss song. Legendary stuff. No disrespect to the ones after that but man Kool Moe D despite what you know or don't know about him on stage back in thelate 70s early 80s he was a beast on the battle tip.
No tf it didn't!! You're from another planet, aren't you? Beans crushed Kiss. That shit towards SIGEL was just ok. Kiss crushed 50 in the track towards 50, yeah. But not Beans, youngen. 😂 Beans waxed that ass. 😂
EXCELLENT‼💪🏿💯‼
“Don’t body ya self” by Nas is slept on so is “Prince of Compton” by Lil Eazy E
It’s a cool diss track. 50 was so huge as an artist that this song had no impact. It did nothing. In the grand scheme of it all, this isn’t close to the best diss track of all time.
50 is an average EMCEE at best
@@deman19901 Your trippin, the numbers don't lie. Have you ever heard guess whos back or any of his first album? That easily tops any of jadas catalog.
With that argument then Ether should not be considered a top-tier diss song either. Jay’s career wasn’t effected at all, he married Beyonce, had a family together and is worth close to a billion
50 is in nobody's top 10
@ Ether was mediocre at best
Good commentary. Research 2nd Round Knock Out, Jay-Z "Super Ugly" next
2nd round knock out was 🔥
Valid suggestions
When I see people overrate Ether, I always think of this song. Jada was actually flowing and didn't compromise it for some cheap insults.
The RAWEST diss track of all time is Suicide by The Lyrical Tung Twista
Interesting, who was he dissing? I could see Twista spazzing
@@tdsnuggs Naughty by Nature. It's on his Resurrection album. Twista is rugged and raw on that album. Adrenaline Rush will always be my favorite though. The diss track him and his posse did for Bone Thugs n Harmony was good too. BATTLE RAP ENERGY FOR SURE.
Bruh i really thought the breakdown was gonna be in the beanie sigel battle but then i seen checkmate which i dam near forgot about and just started 💀💀 like my nigga kiss been sonning niggas for decades wit straight perfect penmanship and always been underrated asf and definitely top 5 doa!!💪🏽💪🏽💯💯
ETHER! Hands down🤷🏾♂️
Tim Dog's "Fuck Compton"
Changed hip hop forever.
"I'll probably never sell that much"
"But you can bet your last 2 quarters I'll never tell that much"
This diss track was off the fuckin hook when it came out. Jada spits bars. Definitely one of my favorite disses.
True indeed
i wholeheartedly the greatest diss record aimed at 50 is the genuis GZA himself with paper plates nothing but 4 minutes of lyricism and vocal slaughter
You ever seen someone who roll with Mayweather, rhyme like Ricky Hatton 😂
also "Know Better" by Headie One & RV
Facts. Banks was so live and was the livest one. What did 50 do to Banks. Banks should have been more. 50 snuffed or puffed him to stay up.
Do one on Your Old Droog
That's otw 🫡
Thanks for reminding me why Jada is so goated 🙏🏿🤙🏿
Good shit bro
Appreicate that Hommy‼ stay locked in 🫡
Checkmate is mad slept on
I agree
ether always been super hard and no vas too hit em up is just fuckin a nuke and that 50 diss to Ja back down is pretty brutal
this that dope shit
that got a good ring to it 🫡
i always wanted the full song of this....
Jadakiss in my top 5. Im from south Yonkers NY. We used to chill in Getty square and battle each other and just have fun. People don't really understand how deeply embedded hip hop is in Yonkers NY and how grimey we can make it. I once battled a dude on Riverdale and i pulled out a sonogram cus dudes girl was pregnant, obviously wasn't dudes kid, but. I thought it be funny so did he. We would always almost seem like we about to fight or kill each other during the battles, but afterwards it was all love and we would quote each other bars. I miss thise days. Now a days everyone wants to drill so they can make a song.
drill rap is wack for the most part
@@tdsnuggs I agree. It's poison, and people ain't writing what they lived to get out of the streets hustle anymore. Instead they living what they write to pander to people they don't even know. They let kids who fantasize about being in the life hype them up, then those Masses of people just move on to the next and then just a bunch of rip signs to theis young people now adays. They took any type of joy out of hip hop, I don't even like to call drill hip hop, it should just be called murder music. I would honestly take a hot NY summer night in the early 2ks and 90s on hot 97. No generation will ever know the feeling of waiting for your favorite songs to come on and hit record on a used cassette tape with the corners filled in so you can record on it. I miss them days for real. I raised my kids on pun, big L , Tupac and tech 9and if course Jadakiss,so they never fed into drill music,I even had my kids watch King of the docs, so they would learn how to use metaphors and bend words. So glad drill wasn't around growing up in NY frfr.
This is when I was like DAMN 50 COOKED!
5:30 you’re welcome
TY
I wouldn't say it's the greatest but it's tough tho I personally feel like Truth by Gucci Mane is a top ten diss of all time the fact he performed it in front of Jeezy makes it top 7
Nas “Don’t Body Yaself” was different. A lot of ppl don’t talk about it
Queens get the money too!
Hit Em Up best diss track hands down!!
Also Alchemist made this and meet the grams lmaoo
Thank you for pointing this out.
Alch been a goat in multiple era's
Unintentionally both times tho, checkmate beat was made for Big Noyd-Air it out and according to Unc Al meet the graham’s beat was something he send a long time ago to Kendrick.
Yh agreed this was 1 of the onezzz🔥🔥🔥🔥💥💥💥💥
Jadakiss is STR8 TOP 5 DEAD OR ALIVE. THE PEOPLES CHAMP 🏆 💪 The Crazy thing is 50 pulled up DOLO SELF TO D- BLOCK after that CHECKMATE track and then they got that $$$$$ Together 💯💯💯💪🙌👍🏆
It was aiight, no Vaseline, ETHER(#1), HIT EM UP
Anyone hear Jada’s verse on David banner’s album that also came out in 05? The song is called “treat me like a bitch” and Jada seems to take some subliminals at 50
never heard of it!
What was the intro from again? Wasnt it a ghostaface song intro?
260
Iron Maiden, The intro on Ironman
What's that movie??? Can't remember. I do remember that clip being on Ghostface's album.
I never took this song out of rotation. lol
And I actually like 50.
Jadakiss is my favorite rapper, but this track is not more vicious than Hit Em Up, Ether… or even the diss track Beanie Sigel did against Jada on that Put Ya Hands Up beat
They say, "u got ethered" for a reason!
Please do a breakdown of Steve Jobs by Lupe bro it’s much needed
Super underrated track
Ether 🎤 🔥
I said this is the best of all time
No Vaseline is the best diss rap ever to me but I'm feeling Jada on this one too
That's valid
Can someone please do a piece on drill rapp having been failing to grasp its message!
50 learned the hardway dont fuck with Jadakkss. 😂 Ms Jackson Problem Child Checkmate even Sheek dissed 50 and didnt hold back Styles on Ms Jackson his whole verse had me creasing he tore into 50 🤣🤣🤣
The best part was he heard the song after a kid asked him when he was going to respond. He said respond to what? Heard the track and went to the studio within 30 minutes. dropped this same day and had it on the radio in like an hour. None of that going into seclusion for a month to write a song with holes in it.
Whats the song in the background behind the narrator ?
Very underrated diss song but it didn’t damage 50 cent like ice cube, 2pac, kendrick and others have hurt there opponents more. Plus impact wasn’t that massive. The world stopped for songs like either, takeover, hit em up, not like us, no vaseline
In the underground, Checkmate along with other diss records from the Lox camp were monumental imo. Great points you made
How ice cube is not a picture at the root of the tree is bananas!!
This and his verse he did on that problem. Child remix if anybody remembers that one. I forget if that's the actual name but he murdered 50 on that song as well
"Tell puffy get out the mirror, I trying buy jadakiss publishing" 50 know that would of been the real checkmate 🤣 then went on hot97 next day
Good vid my guy. Put some effort into this one
Thank you!!!
DOPE rhymes...dope track.
Not even:
...A QUARTER as FIRE, as Nas' "Ether".
" Ether", took over "The Takeover".
