@@SWiFence Couldn’t I assemble the gate, drop rod, and hinges then measure the distance between where both hinges attach to the end posts so I don’t have to do multiple measurements? It seems like a safer method to me. Am I missing something?
Sure. Just make sure they're in a straight line and the fork latch is falling where you want it to. It feels more troublesome to me but you could definitely do that. 👍🏻
I wish you had installed the fence and gate at my mom's instead of the hilljack that did. Thanks for helping me figure out how to correct the best I can and keep my dog inside the fence that currently won't stay latched.

We do carry some hardware online! It's usually not price-practical to buy the pipe and mesh from a distance, but we've got a great selection of fittings as well. 👉🏻 Post Hinges: bit.ly/CLPostHinges 👉🏻 Gate Hinges: bit.ly/CLGateHinges 👉🏻 Drop Rod Assembly: bit.ly/droprodassemblies www.swifence.com
Great video, two questions for you. I have an existing fence that I want to put a gate in by using existing fence. Do you have a video for that and would you use two posts to carry the weight or just replace the existing posts with a thicker post? (No concrete, dirt). Also, what's that machine that you used to cut the drop post's pipe? Thanks.
We've got a video for that: th-cam.com/video/eWmv83ZK_YQ/w-d-xo.html This fence is on concrete, but the principles would be the same for set posts. Yes, you'll want to use end post thickness for your two gate posts--don't try to double-up posts somewhere, that'll look super funky. And I think you're referring to the deep-cut bandsaw. 👍🏻
Thank you for the video. My question is, when calculating your measurements, and you laid your retaining post, did you include the diameter of the post into your measurements? Or, did you only measure from from post hinge to post hinge? I might’ve missed it so I’ll rewatch the video
Did not see it in the video. How far in the ground should the posts be? I am installing a 12 ft (2 6ft pieces) gate with the exact same hardware in this video.
There's no quick answer to that, Hector. It's about what you need to charge to cover the cost of the materials, cost of getting to the job, cost of labor, cost of overhead, and make a profit on top of that. We are the most expensive fence company in our area--and we need to be to maintain our business model. We just make sure we do the best work to make it worth it to the customer.
Funny I can never get the gap between gates to be the right distance either. Always too much or too tight despite many measurements. The drop rods we use are nothing but gate hinges and a galvanized solid rod. The rod goes into concrete or we just drill a hole in the coral rock and shove a pipe in it. I am curious though what your tatooos look like, maybe one day wear a sleeveless shirt? LOL!
After watching this my chain link fence I had installed was very half A***d done. I noticed the gate hinges are not straight and angled. It’s been five years so it’s on me .
i NEED HELP- trying to rehang a chain link gate that is about 8 or more feet wide--it came off the hinges very easily---but now to reset the gate the male part is NOT going into the female part of the hinge. no matter what i do. i even tried reaming out the hole and using a dremel to thin out the male part. i am not that strong at age 71 and cannot afford a handy man. should i just buy new parts? or do you know an easy way?
Hey boss. If the gate hinges were loose or askew and had some weird weight on it, very probable improper swinging bent it and caused it not to fit right. Hardware for the gate is cheap, and each piece is sold by itself if you only need one component
I wish any of my gates had turned out anywhere close to being this level!😂😂😂 Well done and thanks for all the easy to follow instructions.

And yet another free lesson, all I did was hit the like button and watch a couple commercials. Thanks guys
Super helpful, easy to understand. The picture and audio quality are great.
Literally doing a job while watching this. Thank you
You're welcome!
Love you! Thanks! Need to put one in my driveway

Perfect. Exactly the way I was trained.
Love it!
Great explanations. Still not sure why my gate is SO dysfunctional. Will re-examine with your tips in mind.
Awesome! Great job!!
Thank you!

Hinge to hinge. You're measuring for the space _between_ the posts.
What's better to use 6'x 12 foot gates ss20 or ss40 post
How many inches between the two chainlink gates does it have to be to install the drop rod?
Idc if its even. I just want it up. At this point Im going to watch videos and do it myself.
You got this! 👍🏻

I wish I could find a video on how to do it in a neighborhood drive way but I guess this is close enough
nice erase job on the top of that post lol
👍
whatever opening messure is, always i take less 9inch and 3/4 and everything fit perfect

How do I get my driveway gate from kind of slanting it leans to the middle so the inside drags when I open it
How much do think charge for ft!! Plus gates

Are lay both of my gates on the ground with all the hardware attached and then get a measurement.

I'm so sorry but it's extremely difficult to say without seeing it in person. New parts might help--but I can't say for sure.
