    Loads to enjoy here. Once again, the fascinating blend of nearby civilisation amongst the rugged geography. The mix of gorse and heather. The skill of that raptor pinned to a spot in the air in rather strong wind. All captured brilliantly. Thank you! 👍

      Thank you for the kind comment. Each camp that I have done so far this year has been somewhere that I have not been to before as I was starting to return to the same old places, even though there is nothing wrong with that I suppose. As I have a bit of a hip problem I try not to walk for more than an hour to get there. As I live at the foot of the Carneddau mountains I have plenty of places to camp and still be near - or look down on- civilisation.Thanks for watching. 👍

    this looks like it's been filmed in 2006. I love it.

      Maybe it's to do with the poor quality of the camera. Thanks for watching. 👍

    Personally, I prefer the Snugpak Ionosphere over the Stratosphere when it comes to space and waterproofing.

    This must be Wales. I've been atop Pen y Fan, fantastic view occasionally in cloud with sheep just below summit, highly enjoyable experience.

      Thanks for watching. Yes indeed it is in Wales. This is above Bethesda in Gwynedd looking out over Anglesey in the far distance. This camp is only about an hours walk from home. 👍

      @@ysgolgerlan I’ve also hiked the Garth, near my Welsh relative’s home. There were work horses at the southern base used for clearing cut trees. The hike up was through a beautiful forested area. My son-in-law and I then passed through a group of sheep and on through gates and pasture until we arrived at our final passage to the peak with monument. The Garth is unique. After not being formally designated a mountain, the locals added earth to the Garth to achieve formal declaration as a mountain.

    almost getting away from it all.
    Fish and chip shop still in sight and 4 pubs.
    I think that equipment could manage a bit more wilderness.

    • @ysgolgerlan
      @ysgolgerlan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can see four pubs and a fish & chip shop you have better eyesight than me, the high street is way off to the left. I think you misunderstood the video, wilderness means different things to different people. Sure, I could walk for miles into our own little wilderness here - as I have done in the past - but that would entail walking miles back in the morning. Thanks for watching anyway.

      Thanks for watching. Yes I enjoy using the Stratosphere but only if the forecast is for dry weather as I cannot imagine being stuck inside it in the rain. I have made a little mod at the tail end which allows me to lift it up off my lower legs. 👍

      @@ysgolgerlan agreed! I've yet to use mine but I'll definitely be using it with a 3x3 tarp unless is 100% clear skies.

      Agree I think the stratosphere and a tarp is a killer combo. All the weather and bug protection when you need it but 360 views and admin space under your tarp. I love how close you are to people yet tucked away on the hillside. Great video. Like and a sub from me!

    • @ysgolgerlan
      @ysgolgerlan  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@eddieallen6401 Thanks for watching and subscribing. I have not tried a tarp with the stratosphere yet, but will keep it in mind for a future video. I like being able to see the world going about it's business after dark, all the street lights and traffic etc whilst I am tucked away in my shelter. 👍

      So chaps! I currently own a big agnus rapide sl sleeping pad. This is an air mattress pad basically.
      Would this fit inside the stratosphere and still have enough room?

    Hello Ysgolgerlan. use bin bags to put your kit in , bergans are not waterproof

      Thanks for watching and also for the advice. They might not be waterproof but the LK35 is certainly showerproof as they are canvas and also have some sort of rubber liner. 👍

    I'm not a fan of hooped bivys. I had one and woke up the first morning to rain. So I had to prepare and pack for the day while getting soaked. It seems to me a you might as well have a small tent or what I use now, a basha and a military bivvy bag. Hooped bivys dont make sense to me.

      Thanks for watching. When I go camping using the Snugpak I usually check the weather to make sure rain is not forecast. The other alternative would be to carry a small tarp with you.

      @@ysgolgerlan It seems an earlier comment has disappeared? I too prefer the Strat when it is dry, for adding a tarp, whilst I see the logic, I think you may as well use a 1 man tent....same weight, more room, otherwise I feel I am defeating the point of the Strat.? It's dead convenient and easy, but on balance , most times, I prefer my Ionosphere, space for the pack and no condensation?
