My grandparents were what the world would consider poor, but they were so happy and content. Food was grown and preserved. Other than flour, sugar, tea and very few other items-everything was raised. When I think of the happiest moments of my life, it was there-100%.

I didn't know about your previous channel, sadly. I just found you a few days ago, while searching for sourdough starter recipes. I just love your channel, your message and value system; I enjoy even your voice and calm demeanor. I predict this channel viewership will grow quickly, as many others are searching for the content you so appealingly offer. I wish you the very best, but I suspect you will not need luck, after viewing your content. I will share your lovely channel with friends and family.

If everyone went back to this slower lifestyle but still have our basic modern conveniences the world could be a better place. Our little homesteads are our sanctuaries from the outside crazy world. Your little Homestead is a treasure. You allow us to be part of it. Thank you so much, Mary !!! People like us have to support each other and stay connected and learn from each other. Even though we might be miles and states apart, we are still our own little tight group❤

Your homestead life style is so inspirational for me, we own 3 acres 10 minutes from town, we have raise garden beds we just got a large green house we are working on building, ( the temperature has been too hot to build this week). We do have lawn space, no animals just dogs . I am working on learning through Mary’s videos and other sources . I love it

How you’ve blessed your community with this post. Thank you so much. It’s unfortunate that we live in a concrete jungle with no yard. We grow and preserve as much food as we can, including meat. We still have to buy some things from the store but I can go several days, weeks and probably a few months not having to. Being out in the garden is great for mental health. It is also a beautiful time to praise and thank God for his provision. ❤

I think this way of life needs to be saved, taught to the younger generations and cherished. There is nothing like fresh, home grown food. It’s a lost art for so many. We started gardening about 8 years ago but really got serious during the pandemic. We played fruit trees, grapes, big garden, learning to bake with sourdough! I love all the heath benefits! Thank you Mary for keeping these traditions alive and sharing your knowledge with us! ❤

Lots of food can be grown in a small space. I watched a man in China grow cabbages from containers that he attached to boards and stood them up against his fence. They grew huge and took up 1/10th of yard space.

We’re working every year to turn more of more of our yard into a pollinators dream. We’re re-wilding several areas for specific critters which is really fun. At the moment we’re working on red flowers (with as many native plants as possible!) for butterflies and hummingbirds. It’s the perfect secluded spot in our yard! We have our dogs out in the yard all the time and wild life has just sort of adjusted to them always being around. We’re having so much fun with this project each season!

I'd never considered myself a prepare until somebody called me one. They said you're one of those preppers, like it was a dirty word. So many times I've been accused of this and I always ask what are you taking about; especially if it catches me off guard. They give me their definition of prepper, usually involving things like 25 years worth of freeze dried eggs and such. Depending on who it is and how much time I want to preach to a captive audience...Short version. I ask don't you like to be prepared? What if you broke your leg and didn't have grocery money for 6 weeks? Wouldn't it be nice to have some staples tucked away in the pantry? Long version is more like, that's the way I was raised. You grew a garden and put up enough food to last you until the next garden came in. Most of my childhood was off grid. We didn't go to the store and stock up week by week, bread, butter, cans of veggies and assorted cuts of meat. Until the mid 1900's most rural people all did this! My mother in law who had a two year disaster story in her family memories, wanted to have basics for two years! Knowing how to cook or heat the house, how to cool off in hot weather, etc, if your utilities are disrupted is as natural as breathing to me. My kids were taught and they taught their kids how to handle life and it's emergencies natural or unnatural.

So soothing , my days are far gone now, my final days are nothing like I thought they would be, for me I turn and look back and see how unimportant ways and things were , if I could go back with the wisdom I have now maybe I would be leaving in a better way, so enjoying your world gives me that peace if only for a few mins . Keep it up
