I have listened to more than twenty performances of this concerto by various guitarists and orchestras. In my opinion, Angel Romero's is the best. He is a real maestro, his playing is flawless and so very evocative. His recording with the LSO on CD is my favorite as it sounds heavenly on a good hi-fi system.
Qué maravilla Ángel Romero, el pináculo de la interpretación total! Qué control, qué bello y robusto sonido, qué técnica perfecta! y cómo disfruta de interpretar una obra tan compleja.
Costantino Proietti, The guitar is a Miguel Rodríguez from Córdoba Spain. All the Romero family played Rodríguez guitars for most of their careers up until recently. Cheers! ~Miguel, Guitar Lessons from Spain
I have met him personally in Seoul when he was visiting along with Los Romeros. I mentioned his performance of this piece in passing; he was also so proud of one of performances of this piece.
Awesome. We can just enjoy the mastery. As far as we can appreciate, also the orchestra is well into the color of the piece, which is not easy, since it is soooo spanish... as they are. Pepe and Angel are masters, and like masters they do things differently. I like both tremendously. Thanks a million for posting this extraordinary video.
althought I prefer Pepe Romero's interpretation, I have to say this guy is completely good, maybe insane in his playing for this third movement. Thanks for posting it!!!
One of the many ways you can tell this was a stellar performance is by looking at the conductor, in this case he looks like he just got laid and won the lottery
Many guitarrists are much better in Baroque music and deeper music (I think of Paul Galbraith, David Russell, Marcin Dylla, Sanel Redzic, etc.) and more complex and musically deep repertoire, but for the "Aranjuez" this old performance is light years ahead of anyone. Definite ownership that not even Pepe has.

Has anyone else enjoyed playing a concerto so much? Looks like he is having a whale of a time! Great to listen to and watch.

La mejor interpretación que he escuchado.
Es brutal, por muchas veces que lo hayas escuchado, te conmueve igual o mas 🥰🥰
If not the best this performance is the most engaging and brilliant! And what a beautiful sound from his Ramirez guitar.

best aranjuez interpretation for my taste!
Wow! Just wow. I have never seen technique like this. This third movement is so impossibly difficult and his runs are just awesome.
