Some more VIVA QNS OF Hb RELATED TO BOTH THEORY and PRACTICAL POINT OF VIEW--
I STUDIED THIS SO JUST THOUGHT OF SHARING WITH YOU GUYS.
    1. fxns of HB? TRANSPORT OF OXYGEN AND CO2 , BUFFERING ACTION, ALSO STORES IRON
    2. Hb is tetramer or dimer or monomer?
    3. Hb contains how many heme groups?
    4. 1 Hb can bind how many molecules of oxygen?
    5. Adult Hb contains 2 alpha and 2 beta chains.
    6. Components of HB-- 4 heme groups and 1 globin protein.
    7. Why the oxygen dossoc curve is sigmoidal? -- explain about how binding of oxygen takes place with Hb by theory of cooperativity.
    8. some hemoglobinopathies names you should know.-- methHbemia, sickle cell anemia , and thalassemia
    9. what is heme? It is an iron containing pigment
    10. where is Hb present? RBC OF THE BLOOD
    11. hemoglobinuria? presence of hb in urine.
    12. STR OF HB? each hb molecule consists of 4 heme groups and one globin protein molecule-- one heme molecule consists of one protoporphyrin ring and an iron molecule and the globin consists of four polypeptide chains (2pairs).
    13. SYN OF HB? you should have a basic knowledge -- hb syn starts in PROERYTHROBLASTS. HEME is syn in cytosol and mitochondria and globin syn in ribosomes. (full pathway you must know for theory exams)
    14. how protoporphyrin fromed? 4 pyrrole rings joined together to form one protoporphyrin rings.
    15. TYPES OF HB IS MUST. TYPES OF HB IS BECZ OF? it is beacuse of differnet globin chains. (the heme group remains the same) .
    16. ADULT HB (HbA)- 2alpha and 2 beta chains
    17. FETAL HB (HbF) - 2 alpha and 2 gamma chains.
    18. what is oxygen dissoc curve show? it shows % stauration of hb with partial pressure of oxygen.
    19. what is p50? it is the partial pressure of oxygen at which 50% of oxygen binding sites are saturated.
    20. SICKLE CELL ANEMIA-- point mutation, autosomal recessive, at 6th position of the beta globin chain of the Hb. glu changes to valine -- which results is sickle shaped rbcs-- which reduces the life span of the rbcs-- and thus causes destruction of rbcs and hence -- hemolytic anemia.
21- METHhemoglobinemia-- ferrous iron converted into ferric iron-- methhb cant bind oxygen-- results in chocolate cyanosis-- that is brownish discoloration of the skin and the muscous membranes.
22- Thalassemia - autosomal recessive, the defect is in the production of the globin chains-- either the alpha or the beta chains are not syn-- if alpha not syn then known as alpha thalassemia and if beta not syn then known as beta thalassemia.
