I've tried to answer all the comments but there are way more coming in than I can handle - I promise I will read them all but apologise if I haven't responded to your particular note. Bike life.. never a dull moment! Last summer at a T junction on a dry day at a standstill bike slowly tips over on the left side no idea what happened or why but down it went, thankfully (ahem) there were loads of cars and people to witness the event and give me a hand to pick it up. New clutch lever was the damage, one VN1500 up for sale was the result. I'm sticking to the lighter stuff, at least I can move the ZZR600 around without feeling like I'm driving a bus. Getting older has its disadvantages.

Top marks for having the honesty to put the vid up. It would have been so easy to quietly bin that one. Anybody who has been riding for any length time will certainly have had a similar incident. I remember a few years back locking my bike up, a R1200RT which I'd only had a couple weeks, while I watched the Queens Elizabeth, Mary 2 and Victoria on the River Mersey. Muggins forgot to remove the u-lock from the front wheel and promptly tried to ride off. Luckily I was moving off in a straight line and not making a turn so I got away with that one and didn't go down. I've not made that mistake again!

Bad luck, dropping the bike, but no harm done, I was glad to see. All the same it shakes you up a bit and gives your confidence a knock. Dropped my R1200GS Adventure last MoT leaving the garage. Silly mistake dithering about which way to turn joining the road. Luckily the two guys from New Street Motorcycles saw what had happened and came out and picked the bike up for me. Wrenched my right knee though. No damage to the GS apart from a couple of slight scratches on the engine protection.

Really glad you didn't hurt yourself or the bike. It's amazing how strong you get with a bit of adrenaline. I did this with a gsxr 1000 a few years back after pushing through queuing traffic, I'm just glad I remained anonymous with my blacked out visor lol. Love all your vloggs thanks for all your hard work!!

Well done picking that up on your own. I dropped a blade on a slippery concrete carpark once and it was a nightmare to get back up, it just kept sliding away every time I tried to lift it. I'm glad you and the bike were ok. I'm introducing my colleague to your video at the moment, we really enjoy the 125 reviews even though we both have full licences.

Thank you for posting this, takes some guts to do that. You did very well picking it up again, particularly as it was on mud/wet grass with presumably little grip for your feet. I did grimace when you stood the bike up and put it on its sidestand and then walked away - I had visions of the sidestand sinking into the soft ground and falling over again.

Glad to see that someone is riding. The "deadly polar vortex" brought us -28c today. My '13 GS will stay in the garage until we get some rain to rinse the copious amounts of salt off our roads.
The vlog and drone footage look great. Top quality work!
Oh, and that bit in the parking lot... Thanks for letting us see that TMF is indeed human. Good on you for that! Hope the GS cleaned up without any lasting evidence.

Hi TMF, Kudos for posting this. I expect someone has already said this but I can't be bothered to read all the comments - Having done the same several times I found that putting the side stand down and ensuring the bike is in first gear before lifting saves much grief when you have got it upright.

Watched this a little late, but it reminded me of my drop last summer - 2nd in 12 years of riding. Both were with people nearby advising me how to park and supposedly watching for hazards, both times bumped panniers into innocent-looking lamp poles I hadn't noticed. Lessons learned: 1) trust your own instincts, and 2) if you don't take a drop every now and then, you're probably having less fun than you should.

Just bought my first GSA, mainly due to you, and now you show me this. I am struggling to get it on the main stand and if I do I then struggle to get it off. Glad you were sensible enough not to try and hold it. Dropped my Multistrader and forgot to do the sidestand so lifted it up and it crashed down on the other side. We live and learn.

@@TheMissendenFlyer Reminds me when I was PX my V twin at Blade Honda Reading (2016) I rode in the pouring rain to the dealer first thing in the morning, no worries.
On arrival for some reason (car park empty) I turned left into the dealership then rode up to the building and turned right to park parallel to the building in the first clear space.
The next thing I knew was lying on the deck with the bike pinning down on my right leg!!! (Bike just cut out and took me completely by surprise!)
The first thing I thought .....shit I've damaged my PX (never mind my leg) however the Blade guys lifted the bike up and off my leg.
Amazingly NO DAMAGE done to the PX only to pride (bruised inner thigh) I could feel my face still RED HOT with embarrassment and didn't remove my helmet until I was well inside the dealership.
The dealer offered and took my NEW bike to my house in their van after the paperwork was signed!!!

Capsize!!! You win the Queen's Award for Profanity Control. Seriously though, glad you and the bike escaped damage. Well done on picking it up too. When I dropped the RT (car park, side stand not down properly - easy as you note in your RT review) it fell onto the pot and pannier and I got it back up using the same 'back to' technique. And I swore a lot. Nothing much damaged though except a scuff on the head protector and pannier. Actually I think the boxer layout helps a bit as it pivots over the head rather than lying flat. Still a heavy beast though. Anyway... great dronage! Lovely spot too.

Great video as always. Yes, I did it too, only to my K1600GTL, unfortunately on bitumen. To my surprise it wasn’t exceedingly difficult to upright it on my own, possibly because the engine is quite low in the frame. Still 8 grand Australian was the damage bill and apart from the bent driving light bracket, it’s only scratches. Bike is insured, mercifully.

My 'dropped it' story was when I had one foot down and didn't realise I had stopped on a camber where the road surface on the other side of the bike was 4 inches lower... Timber!! Unfortunately I had a bit of an audience but like you, the only damage done was to my pride. Good advice, if it's going, "let it go, let it go".

I'm sure that brings memories to the majority of us.
I was at a roadside burger bar, frequented by bikers. The ground was gravel, with sloping areas and potholes. Youngster rolls up on a KTM duke, side stand goes into a pothole and his boot on gravel. Well ... you can imagine what happened, and the guy's embarrassment. We helped him and the bike up, checked them over, and then an older fella went over to him, shook his hand, and said ..... 'welcome to the club'. That about sums it up, and was kinda nice I thought.

As for the droppage, well done for righting the ship despite having minimal friction underfoot. Otherwise, no harm done... and hopefully that's your ration fulfilled.

It happens. My first drop with a GS was stopping at a traffic light, put my foot down and there just so happen to be oil right in the spot my left foot met Earth.
I hate mud on my motorcycles, but once it has the unavoidable mucky stuff you might as well make the cleaning worth it by doing the dirtying you're usually avoiding. Makes the cleaning that much more enjoyable.
