    The great thing about this man's videos is that he speaks to all level of watch enthusiasts. I'm knew to Omega, so look at his old and new videos...and will be buying him a cup of coffee now and then. Thank you, sir.

    I wish I was aware of these remedies years ago. I had a real nice vintage Tissot Mediostat Doctor's watch that would "fog up" when I wore it in humid situations. Out of frustration I eventually got rid of it even though I would have preferred to keep it. I 'm glad you are making collectors aware of these potential cures for moisture problems. Good on you. Thanks for another useful video.!

      Many thanks! These are not the only methods that work. There are others. But these are the methods that I used couple decades ago when I was working at a watch store.

    I just put my watch in a 3D printing filament dryer with some silica packets, and it cleared it up really nicely.

    Hey buddy I have what I believe to be one of the first omega watches ever made. It’s a vintage watch. I can track back to where it was first purchased and I would like to know if there’s any value to it. Is that something you could assist me with please.

    Very informative. If there is no moisture issues would you recommend putting your watch in rice as a safety precaution measure?

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No need to do that. Instead, apply the grease as described in the video.

    I have got another angle - london is a damp place - bake the rice to dessicate it properly, and insert the watch into the desiccated rice which is still heated - around 60°C Is the temperature I used to heat the rice.

    Hi, I just had moisture under the crystal of a De Ville 35mm. The watch maker who dried it saw no immediate damage, but recommended a full service to be sure. I just had a service with no issues in February. Would you recommend a service to be sure? Issue was caused by a loose crystal

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, if he already dried it out and your watch is functioning properly. There is no need for a service. You only need a service if he did not dry the movement or rust already started to build up. Rust begins to build up within a couple days inside a watch. Loose crystal or worn crown gasket is almost always the case on these older watches. Whoever that serviced your watch in February needs to recheck the whole watch and replace with a proper fitting crystal free of charge.

    i know you dont service watches unless you are going to sell them but i would like to ask, i have a vintage omega that was my 2nd grate grandfather he died in 2015 and i got this watch from him and i did a video on it on my channel but i would like to ask somehow could you repair it please? it is very special to me and i cant repair it i dont know how to repair it, it would be a good restoration video.

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel

      Hi, unfortunately, I do not take repair from anyone. You can always try asking on the Omega forums for referrals or google search for your domestic watch repair shop.

    First one to see a video, excellent!!
    Could you do a video on how to clean a dial? Sometimes there are certain stains that would be good to take out.

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no special method to clean the dial to perfection. It is quite dangerous to temper with the dial in the first place. You can only do basic cleaning on the dial which I've made a video about: th-cam.com/video/NzZTGHHV-7Q/w-d-xo.html
      Only dirt or dust can be removed, but stain will not be possible. If you try to deep clean a dial you can damage it or alter the way it looks originally.

      @@TimelessHistoryChannel Thank you for your reply. At the moment I have a Seamaster Calendar that has some sort of dirt with a consistency of like gum (?). What do you think on using a toothpick with a little bit of water do get it out?
      I have tried the blower and the rodico but there is some dirt still.

    Hi! How can you choose which is the correct size gasket for your watch, I mean also thickness not just the diameter. Thanks!

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can measure it where the gasket rest to find out the thickness. Otherwise, like myself, I kinda have a rough idea what thickness it should take by looking at it. And usually, the old gasket is there for you to measure it before throwing it away.

    • @marco.castellani
      @marco.castellani 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TimelessHistoryChannel It is an Omega Geneve 136.070 from the 70's.
      Thanks to your advice I was able to measure the old gasket and order a new one, but what about the crown/stem? Does not seems to come with one (the watch was never used before) even though the case back says waterproof and the omega website says it was water resistant up to 30 m (of course I am not going to use it in water condition) but isn't the crown or stem supposed to have a gasket? Thanks!

    • @TimelessHistoryChannel
      @TimelessHistoryChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marco.castellani THe crown will require a gasket on a Geneve 136.070. Unfortunately, you'll need someone who knows how to replace the crown gasket with doing it for you. The stem does not take a gasket, but only the crown does.

    • @CollaborativeDataAccounts

      NO. It exacerbates the problem. Open the crown and place the watch in with silica gel packets in a container for a few days.

      Apply some seiko silicon grease to the crown once a week or every other week. That should help. If moisture still gets inside, then it’s time to have the watch serviced. Probably need a new crystal or case gasket
