I was just thinking the other day... What happened to that guy digging in his yard? Glad to see you back at it. The Egyptian used to reuse blocks and even entire temples, maybe your missing house was turned into a walkway!
Great, I was hoping to see any news from you and here you are. So many people around the world are interested in your excavations, I wish you to find another building soon! And maybe some other historic things. Your project is very uncommon, it's a pleasure to track the progress.
@@afontirs haha. Well you teased us on your last one saying it would be in December I think. So i've been waiting for a few months. I love this kind of stuff. I know its a lot of work though. Good job and thanks for sharing.
The stacked stone is so beautiful. What I love about masonry is that you can see the hands at work . So glad that you are reclaiming it’s original beauty. Love the doorway ! I want one .
For all your hard work in this short installment, it for me was this little bit of relaxation, enjoying your choice of music and again opening the door to endless possibilities! Looking forward to your next video!
It is so great to see you ! I’m following you from the beginning, it is so interesting,I love your way of getting interested in the history! Love from Holland! ❤ and please keep digging!
Yay! You’re back! I was so excited to see this come up, but I see it was 8 days ago already! Looking forward to seeing what comes out of this as it’s been fascinating…keep up the great work and love the content from Alberta Canada 🇨🇦🍁💝
I am very glad to see the story continues! I was expecting you to start into the wall from the road where there was a blocked up entrance and follow the steps to a new cottage. The map seems quite crude and I would not be surprised if the walls of the cottages are not exactly as they appear on the map. BTW, the stump bar turned out amazing! Keep up the cool work and we'll keep watching! 👍😁😉
So glad to see you back at it, seems like a huge undertaking but so interesting. It must be great having found this one your property. Hope to see you make many more finds.
The thing about plans is that sometimes they are for proposed buildings and what is actually built is to a slightly different plan, because of money, or time, or whatever has changed between the proposal and actual construction. Also consider the way demolition may have been carried out, if your house was the last one perhaps the demolition team got tired or lazy and just demolished the building to that height and filled it in, then walked away with ‘job done.’ Perhaps your building was the last one still occupied, making demolition of the others easier as they were more derelict, who really knows. Anyway, this whole series has been really interesting so far, and I’m sure that whatever else you may discover will be just as interesting.
With as much history as your area has, one would think an archeologist would be interested in helping with your endeavors. Perhaps someone with ground-penetrating sonar could help you find that elusive wall.🌺 Side note: would also love to see another wood project with that tree stump! 🌳
It happens . I had a friend who had to re-build a barn - from almost scratch as the original stone was removed & re-located to build a modest bungalow for the previous owners.
Hey Afon, you should get a long rod and push it down to find the walls and floors and I really enjoy your videos and your hard work ethic so keep it up! Lee from Tennessee
Great to see you back Afon, we are all gunning fir you and so hope you find the second dwelling. Even if it's a wild goose chase you will be keeping super fit with the impressive effort.
i presume they are workers cottages, do you know when they were pulled down, i bet you feel blessed and cursed, but keep up the good work its very interesting to see, i guess by the thickness of the walls they were single floor dwellings, hopefully the gold stash is there waiting for you to find 😁
I’ve dug deep holes and I’m impressed at how much progress you made in 3-4 hours. It’s hard work. I’m glad you had some people to help for part of it too! Do you have a friend with a chainsaw to take out parts of the stumps? Or is the risk of rocks too dangerous for a chainsaw? It’s so satisfying when a big obstacle finally comes out!
What you’ve discovered so far is pretty amazing, I shall keep my fingers crossed for you, but if nothing else, you’re going to have one phenomenal workout. Not to mention that with all the stones you have excavated you’re in the running for the biggest rockery around…. Ok, that’s enough rubbish from me. Thanks for posting, this has been great so far and it’s an adventure, if you knew what you were going to find it would not be as fascinating.
So happy to find you back in my feed today! Thought about you off and on and wondered if your project had hit a bigger snarl than your tree trunks. Perhaps the stones were removed and repurposed for some other reason, it seems some are still there. The soil that’s coming up looks as though it could be put in a garden or compost and repurposed. Well done Afton! Thoroughly enjoying your installments….from Nashville, Tennessee 👋🏻
What a nice surprise to see you again after a while :) Here is where you need Time Team to radar that ground for walls isn't it? Thank you for sharing this with us.
This was my thought as well. I wondered if a local historical society may be interested in your excavation, and if they might have a resource for a ground radar. Cheers, and I'm so glad to see more videos. :)
Been looking forward to the new excavations .
There's more to come. Thanks for watching!
This is so fun. Thanks for doing the hard work for those of us who would never get this opportunity.

ruin near my grandparents circa 1300 was used for local houses, church etc. not much left now. such nice stones would be a shame not to use again.
EXCITING!!!
Number 1. Thanks for the videos!
The moment you said, "another set of steps," I remembered and got really excited. Cant wait until the next update!

Welcome back I've since moved from the UK to Italy so pleased I still get to see your progress
Good to see your back doing your 1 man time team, interesting to watch, good luck with those tree stumps and finding more walls/floors👍
Good to see you back at it Afon Tirs!
great to see a new vid, looks like the stones were taken and used elsewhere .. hope you find more of the cottages, thanks for sharing
It is so wonderful to see more from you! This is my spot of joy and peace in the middle of hard times. Thank you.
So glad to see you back at it, seems like a huge undertaking but so interesting. It must be great having found this one your property. Hope to see you make many more finds.
glad to see you are continuing this! i'm excited what you might find. keep it up!

Welcome back, looking forward to seeing what emerges from the past 😃
Great to see you back - looking forward to see what you find!
So glad your back, I having been looking forward to seeing how you were getting on with uncovering the past. 💕🇬🇧

Also consider stone being removed from a ruin for reuse maybe at another building site.
It happens . I had a friend who had to re-build a barn - from almost scratch as the original stone was removed & re-located to build a modest bungalow for the previous owners.
Yes I think it's very likely that happened. but I'm hoping the walls are more in tact in other places even so
@@afontirs I think this is such a cool project.
Thank you for bringing us on your journey.
Looking forward to seeing the stumps removed.
Blessings from Michigan
Good to see you back. I'm looking forward to see what you find.😊

Yes like they do some channels as they look for old privys .... with much success ..
Crick Diggers is 1 he should take a look at ....
With the rod method, perhaps more trees could be saved. Would be nice to preserve as many trees as possible.
Couldn't sleep so great to a video up. Always exciting and glad to see you had some help. Thank you.
Great to see you back Afon, we are all gunning fir you and so hope you find the second dwelling. Even if it's a wild goose chase you will be keeping super fit with the impressive effort.
Hi once again, glad to see you back. I never left. I knew one day you’d be back. Rock on…..Joyce from Connecticut, United States 🇺🇸❤️🙏

Hopefully! :) yes i think they're worker's cottages and were single storey

Very happy to see you back!
happy to see an update. those stumps look like more than a day's work, yikes!
👍, you are doing a great job . The flat stone might be an older building.
Welkome back! 🥳

Good to see you. Good episode 👍
Very excited to see a new video from you, we were wondering how you were getting on and talking about you just recently. Good luck with those stumps 🤞
My gosh! I had completely forgotten I had subscribed to your channel. Good thing you showed up on my feed.
As a metal detectorist, I long to be there with you to help find any bits of the cottages’ history! So exciting!
I'm on your side. You are in the best place in the UK. Keep at it. If not, I'll bring my pick axe 😂
Its so nice to have a new Video from you
Welcome back. Always happy to see your progress

Love it! Thanks so much for posting this.
What a nice surprise to see you again after a while :) Here is where you need Time Team to radar that ground for walls isn't it? Thank you for sharing this with us.
Maybe there's a local university that has an archaeology dept. that would be willing to help with it as an extra credit thing?
This was my thought as well. I wondered if a local historical society may be interested in your excavation, and if they might have a resource for a ground radar. Cheers, and I'm so glad to see more videos. :)
Love your content, it's a bit of mystery What Is Down There. See you in a few months. 👍🙂
