Thanks for checking it out! When I had 2 100w panels, I was able to mount them lower too but with adding the 3rd, I had to mount above the cross rails. Obviously you can modify depending on fan placement and keep it low.
Is that a large washer across the open end of the lower strut with the bolt going through it connecting to the cone nut in the upper strut? Seems a bit unsupported with so much bolt exposed below the cone nut. Also, is there some material between the two struts?
Your dad did a great job on getting that all installed. I noticed that you guys mounted the strut channel the opposite direction of most people. Is there any worry about water sitting in that rolled lip on the strut?
I guess I hadn't given much thought to that and either way water will sit in there. It's about a year since the install and I don't have a rust issues or anything.
I've come back to this video many times and plan to build mine out this way. Thanks for sharing!
Good luck with the build! A few years in and I haven't had any problems with this setup.
I might finally pull the trigger on getting my roof rack. I like this setup because I lowers the vertical unistrut whereas others raise.
I just ordered through your Amazon link! 🤘🏼

How do you attach the unistrut overlapped perpendicular?
They sell nut inserts at the store that slide into the rails. I just used those and through bolts.
Thank you for sharing this!
Np, hope it helped!
I have been looking forward to these build video. Nice work
Thanks, man! They get better too, just gotta get through some of the foundational stuff!

hey guys! what size "cone nuts" (those blue unistrut things) are those?
Did you use 12 or 14 gauge unistrut?
12g
@@acebikemedia Do you think 14g would work just as well?

What size is the instrut
Unistrut
What solar panels did you install?
They are Renogy 100 watt panels. I still have them and they've been good!
