hi, thanks :) if u have the 2-yr rule in your visa, sometimes it's erroneous. u can apply first for the Advisory Opinion in USCIS to check if you are really subject. I applied for the Advisory Opinion and found out i am actually not subject to the 2-yr rule :) so i didn't need the waiver anymore.
@@oishari Ah oki I see. This is a personal question if it’s ok to ask but is there a reason why you went along the 2-year rule even it doesn’t apply to you?
@@f0toon-mw8jp hello! Haha so this is a bit of a long story. maybe i’ll make a video on it too lol: I found out about the Advisory Opinion too late na huhuhu. I actually consulted lawyers early on in my stay and none of them told me about the Advisory Opinion. One of them even told me its better to go home so I have a good record incase i want to apply for greencard later on. So I listened to her advice and had already made plans to return to PH. But I was still curious and continued to research on my own. I found out about Advisory Opinion few months before my J1 expired. I applied just to check and the result was I’m actually not subject. If I had more time, maybe I would find a way to stay. But now that I know, i’m on the process of applying for another visa. Will update my channel on this new visa once i have more progress :) So that’s the long story hahahaha. So if u do get the rule on your visa, u can apply for Advisory asap. :)
Also to answer ur first question, Im not sure if 18months is enough for a waiver. Try sa asking sa facebook groups of J1 filipinos ☺️. Hope this helps!
