Police officers should be held accountable for their criminal behavior, just like every other person would that doesn't wear a badge.
Shouldn't matter because we are all equal.
If this situation happened in domestic situation, the person would've been arrested and held accountable through the court of law.
Just because you take and oath, and wear a badge and have a license to carry a gun, doesn't make you exempt from your actions.
I'd like to know what this man's superior officers did about this..and any other person in charge of the police department.
No disciplinary actions were taken? Why not?
They should be held accountable for not putting the brakes on this man's disturbing and extremely violent behavior.
They basically let this situation continue to the extent that it did..all while this man has a license to carry a firearm?
I hope this police dept is thoroughly investigated.
4 years with possible early release? Absurd.
The victim best get help through a protection program, she'll need it when he is released.

Ladies, if you ever find yourself in Alexis’ predicament of being raped and police won’t report, immediately (or ASAP) get to the ER and tell them. Police must respond to hospital reports. When you are having this sort of problem with a dirty cop and his brothers in blue will not take any action against him I think the best thing you can do is to call the State Police. The State Police do not have a close bond with the guys in the local police department like the local cops have with each other so they are much more likely to come to your assistance and handle the bad guy even if he is a cop.
Actually, sending a text message to the dispatcher was a great idea because it provided a record that her cries for help were being ignored. I am not a person who hates police and right now I am not thinking "yeah, typical dirty cop". Not at all. Unfortunately, sometimes there are cops who go bad but my opinion of them as a profession is positive. However, as is shown in this story, a "bad" cop's co-workers are extremely reluctant and sometimes they downright refuse to take action against the bad apple in their barrel until the entire barrel is rotten.
Come on guys. I know you face life and death situations on a regular basis and you see some things that the rest of us cannot even begin to imagine. I get that. But in the future, when there is a dirty cop in your midst, apprehend him and treat him just like you would any other person and if he is victimizing someone you must protect that victim...even if it's from your "brother". The oath you took DEMANDS that you do so.

It was a common topic when they would discuss the kid’s futures. They openly said that if things went bad, you would have no protection & that cops killed their women. When you take an oath to serve and protect there should be a much harder penalty for this kind of nonsense. For all who chose to do nothing to help this lady should also be dealt with. She needs to be compensated for all her troubles. The PD is responsible for this foolishness to some degree. Had they done their jobs properly she would have been spared a lot of trouble
