It’s remarkable how many of these places are on my outpost network locations. I have three main bases but several smaller outposts. I’ll pick a permanent home sooner or later.
The rocky outcropping on the river next to the redwoods is a really good spot too. If you have an argent and an anky, you have close access to the volcano, the mountain across from the volcano, and the redwoods mountain. You’re almost perfectly centered too, which means that there are no resources you have to fly completely across the map to get to. Plus there’s the black sand mosh pit just down the river, so you get equus and Rex spawns of your choice.
I built my first permanent base right there but there seems to be less and less dinos spawning. It is a great spot but I don't know how to fix the spawning problem
@@Alex-eu3lf I had to take my spino through there because it started to get full of dimorphs and fish, which both block certain spawns. Other than that I haven’t had an issue with spawns, unless you built right on top of it?
@@Spiney09 No I built on that stony plateau right above the river and next to the swamp. I'll try that out I did notice a crap ton of fish, parasaurs and dimorphs. Thanks man

Thank you for putting in the work and scouting out areas that help everyone from the noob to the pro. I built near the mosh pit after watching your videos. I really liked your waterfall base!
Oh hallelujah! Finally a Phlinger version of base locations (really appreciate how you convey a LOT more info on the factors and things in each place that PVE-er's care about).
And what timing! finally got a couple friends to give Ark a shot a month ago, successfully hooked, and we're now planning our pilgrimage through all the plot maps since I've never done them either!
What I love is that the Devs took time into naming a bunch of areas you were talking about. I liked Footpaw Island as the creeks around it were good for fish and metal without too many sarcos ruining my day. I made a sick raptor barn because there were plenty of Raptors and the odd carno. I eventually made a raft before getting a flyer and would ferry my Dino's over to this closed in compound I built right near the moshpit area you talked about because it's a great area for capturing and taming argrys, sabertooths, scorpions, and the odd anky or doedicurus. Eventually having the motorboat and switching Dino's between both areas was useful but a bit of a tedious chore. To a gameplay standpoint it was getting me further ahead by focusing on more than one area and I was moving Dino's around quick and easy on my boat instead of always flying them everywhere

I'd also suggest the cliff/plain near where the blacksands turns into the swamp around the Volcano.
The terrain may be a bit uneven, but you can get very nice views from your base if you use the various cliffs well, you have easy access to all the resources on the Volcano, the swamp and redwoods, as well as a lot of nice tame oppurtunities (there's even a nearly infinite and fast respawn of theris there).
You can even build a lighthouse on the rock that's in the middle of the river.
Phlingers favorite (Season 4) is where I still have my base on the Island. I KNEW that was your favorite Phlinger, just something about it I can't leave. Love it!
How can you build there? I get floor error on the flat cliff.
I love the Hidden Valley location - there's 3 supply drops that can drop right in the valley, plus a 4th in the northeast passage. Crystal and metal are just a short flight away, and the beavers spawn in the little pool for some free cementing paste. I just started a new base there on my private server and it's a blast
Herbivore Island is best imo if you're playing solo and offline. Easy enough to get to with a Raft or fast Parasaur and it's the easiest location to get metal and the Ankys to farm it. It's got more than enough wood and stone to start setting up a main base. And if you build a Raft with Forges on it, you can take your Ankys to the southern end of the island to farm crystal and more metal. The only real downside, it can get annoying when there's a wild Bronto stomping around your base.

@Andy_1777 You're welcome. I found since then you can build a base in the middle of the lagoon to avoid the brontos.
Or when an alpha leedsichtyus destroys your raft
Steam workshop if that's what you play on has a thing called Moby Dickless which removes them if you prefer not playing with them.
The area near the mosh pit, I think at 5:40 in the video, can give you problems building because it's a loot drop location. Depending on your server settings, it might not let you lay down foundations. Found that out a couple of weeks ago.

I’m a new player still on the Island. It’s fascinating how many of my natural outposts have ended up on this list. Mosh pit, the Stonehenge lagoon and that central plateau. I don’t really have a full permanent base though. More like three main bases across the island.
I will settle soon enough as I’m almost done with exploring the entire island.
I usually build my PVE base just left of where you are at 8:21 (so across the lagoon of stonehenge). There is a huge plateau there that you can guard off by blocking only 2 exits. So after having done that i usually let my carnivores wander around on agressive first to kill all the unwanted visitors and then set my farming dinos to work. The other great thing about this spot is, that the hunter cave is practically right next door and once you have a decent raptor/carnotaurus/bary or any other caverunner, you can go in there for a ton of chitin, metal, crystal and obsidian. Ohh, and usually there are beavers around, too.
I put one of my main bases in the same location.
I'm just moving my base from Crag Island (the one you've got on the Island bottom left) to by the waterfall purely for the aesthetics of the place (and I'm putting a nice pen for my Sarcos in behind it too) I can do more stuff there in other building, the current build is my main house and is built on top of the second waterfall
My tribe has two bases established on a PvE server. One almost right up next to the "Mosh Pit" on the West Coast, and one in the "Redwood Oasis" (as I like to call it) that you showed next to the cave of the immune.
Honestly, I didn't even know there was a cave next to that one. Our tribe leader decided to take it upon himself that he would build a separate base from our "HQ" (West Coast Mosh Pit) after me and another tribe member found the location and told him about it. I'm kinda bummed I couldn't have just built a small cabin, but it is what it is.
Unfortunately, he has since moved to GenTwo for a bit, so the Redwood base is just wasting away and empty. It looks depressingly empty, since all the different tames he would always have sitting outside went with him to GenTwo.
However, I've been able to build the Mosh Pit base up a bit to be more reinforced, so we can at least handle Rexes that occasionally wander down the beach. I've even been able to keep it fairly compact enough to keep from affecting spawns, so others can come witness the amazing moshpit fights on the peninsula and Artic. lol
My third base is at the red obelisk. Planning to make other bases at the other 2 obelisks as well if i get there one day.
just got back into ark after a long last few years. i heard about that western potential base area, but couldnt quite pinpoint the exact spot where it was at. this video was a gem for showing its near exact spot. fortunately i was and am very close to it. and Mosh pit is a great description for that particular area. i say 4 rex's, a group of raptors, and whatever the hell the giant crocs are with a few turtles going at it.

5:00 I’ve been living on the first location, since there’s water, high ground, lots of resources, water, and a ton of space. It’s also right next to red ob so I can easily transfer without traveling too far.
I had my base there, then a Spino spawned nearby and killed all my dinos
Probably not for beginners, but there is this spot in snow area on a isolated island that's still fairly close to land between the blue ob mountain and the mountain parallel of it. Has been a cozy little area with no issues aside from the occasional Yuti pack and argentavis.
Do you have coordinates?
It also have a lot of oil and crystal there on the ground level right beside the island

In Ark Mobile the Volcano is the same as in the old versions, full of metal, so my favorite place is near the western plains, because I have a huge source of Iron, tames from trikes up to spinos spawning and easy access to the Mosh Pit and Red Woods
Good Locations. I tried most, but i like others too. one is in the Snow Biome that can be fun.

I miss the island map... My first ever base was on south beach then I moved to Herbivore island. I eventually sailed all the way up the west coast and settled near the waterfall just south of infamous mosh pit or whatever you call it haha.
I built on that plateu (i think it was the 3rd by the lagoon) and its been great...took the whole top from swamp to lagoon.

I built on that lower potion of the waterfall below your “favorite spot” (second spot mentioned)… the waterfall is in my base currently on ark ascended. 😅 I have a shark in the pool inside.

Herbivore Islamd. Megalosaurus don't spawn in water Megalodon's do, thought that slip was funny. Funnier that no one else caught it. Your videos have improved my game several levels thanks. 10:16ish
Tree house in the Redwoods, right on the river is my base. Not too far inland to minimize Thyla attack, more or less in the fold of the map.
7:21 in south sone one there are also silica pearls on the beaches there is also beaver dams by the metal and crystal mountain and there are underwater resource caves with oil and crystal not to far away
I honestly believe I have either built a base or at the very least an outpost at all of those except the Redwood and hidden valley locations.
15:18 is a good base location to see where most of the red drops are on the map.

Man, I hate those Megalosauruses that spawn in the water by herbivore island.
My base is on the west beach next to the snow biome, it’s pretty close to the volcano so I can just fly my anky over to the mountain when I need metal, I did have to deal with an alpha Rex though since it started getting closer to my base

Hello, on your nr1 favorit spot, i can not build on the flat cliff for some reason. The reason i like that is because its flatter then the other cliff, plus i dont want to remove the iron spawns. But you said you can build there. How can I do that? I want to move from herbivores island because it is so far away from everything and it has served me well so far to learn the game in a chill manor. Also does spawn time is related to day and night circle? Seens I have loooong days and normal nights. I messed up the settings a bit 😅
I assume you're talking about the location he mentions at 16:00? The plateau that is across from the metal nodes is a supply drop location. There is a server setting that prevents players from building at those locations. I believe the specific setting is called "PvEAllowStructuresAtSupplyDrops".
You can theoretically build a base at all these locations right?
I can't build on the precipise, any idea why? Doesn't allow me to put anything, pillar nor foundations, with or without the tree
I'm just struggling to make the transition from my 1st primitive base to like electrical and stuff... like in not really sure how to explain it but all I can say is I'm struggling to transition to the next phase of ark

I like to build a base in the oasis, herbivore island, or carnivore island.
While I was staying on the hidden valley and was mining on the metal mountain near it a giga spawned and I had to cheat to survive because I probably won't be able to get my stuff again unless it despawns or gets far away
I done built my base directly on metal mountain
I was a nomad until I had the engrams to stay warm lol. Thought I might live that character’s whole life on a Bronto platform

Hidden Valley/Hidden Lake is great because of all the loot drops.

Yeah these are all good spots, but fair warning metal mountain can spawn Giga's that roam towards the volcano.
I'm a first time ark player built my first base near spawn and my main base is gonna be near the green tower on the edge of a cliff but I'm in single player

Herbivore Island for the win
On the sever I am on they put pillers down to take the land where they haven’t got a base on it. Think they shouldn’t be able to do that. That way some ppl can’t build there
I was heading to the herbivore island by raft half way I got attacked by a apex don't know what it was but it was big but I had a spino with me it saved my life I didn't have a saddle for it so I had to jump on it's back and try to reach land but I somehow managed to get to the island and almost killed my spino
i don't know why, but when you said this video is about "where are the best bases location in your opinion, and granted it is your opinion", a cute and soothing little voice told quietly at my ear something that looked like WATERFALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at about 300db... i really don't know why i promise! but i can't ear anything now...
I don't understand how anyone has the patience to ever build away from real metal rocks. Like I am not going to sit there and hit river rocks for bulk metal, sorry. Never gonna happen.
4:28 I was attacked by 5 raptors saw a titanosaur sniped a raptor saw a spino battling a diplodocus and the spino won while spino was busy battling I got a sneaky hit kicked off my pterydactyle mid flight and it started attacking spino got killed by spino in a panic I rushed to a area near the woods till attack music stopped ran to the safety of titanosaur not even an eighth of the way got attacked and killed from behind by alpha raptor
10/10 overall will go again when I have a new pterydactyle and one with more stamina👍

I wish they would increase the Dino levels on the island. All the low levels just make it miserable.

I mean, yeah, your starter base is likely gonna be right where you spawn. These are places you might wanna move to after you outgrow your beach shack.

God there was a base location i want to find again but i bloody cant find it., maybe someone here knows where it was. It was either near green or red orb. It was round a bit higher u could walk it up had 3 access points i think, had multiple layers around and was easy to wall off since it was round. I hope someone knows the location cuz im frustrated. Hahaha

Actually on the no carnivores on herbivore Island.
Pteranodon technically is a carnivore. They aren't aggressive though so yeah it doesn't matter. But if we want to be technically correct Carnivores do spawn on Herbivore Island

Dont try to build on the mosh pit area, i had spikes n 14 dinos, stegos carnos n rexes n it only lasted a day n i got wiped.
Herbivore island is the best for a beginner.
The island is the hardest map to hide 9n to me unless you build in a cave

I built sniper towers large stone wall towers with a roof you climb up the ladder and you can shoot down at carno's 😆

If you want a large, flat, open base, then the south side of the river south of the west end of the redwoods is great.
But that's swamp, you say? Well yes, but think of all the resources you get from clearing those trees!
Those spots are great for pve servers but pretty useless on pvp... Too much open space without any natural defence
