You give Democrats too much credit thinking they saw through that. Everything they believe comes from hearing platitudes repeated over and over by everyone they know and every media outlet they follow.
Every Democrat knows that Trump is anti democracy while they're trying to throw him in jail. That his followers are part of a cult even while he surrounds himself with intelligent people who disagree with him who the Democratic party has kicked out for disagreeing with them. That religious rhetoric is dangerous while no Christians are out here shooting at Kamala. That somehow he's a Nazi but also pro Israel. That he's pro Russian but somehow wants to broker a peace deal to stop killing Ukrainian.
Nothing they say makes any sense with the slightest bit of critical thought... Because they don't actually apply critical thought. Their corporate overlords tell them what to believe by repeating it over and over, and like good little sheeple they follow them off the ledge

Debates are supposed to be a little heated. We have neutered them as of late. There MUST be some back and forth to get people thinking and asking questions. Cutting mics, no audience and partisan hosts is absolutely Un-Democratic. Questions should be voted on, LIVE, by Americans and then relayed to the moderators to ask. We need more transparency and less prepared (and likely biased) debates. Let the kids be kids and let Americans choose based on FACTS, NOT propaganda. Great show Brett!

I do think there should be some pre-prepared questions from the moderators for the beginning and maybe the end of the debate (to start it out and to cover other important topics), but having a section in the middle for general questions to both debators and specific questions sounds like a great idea, especially when they're voted on by the public.
While that does give another avenue for democrats to manipulate it so only the Republican has to answer hard questions, I think the fact that the average American can actually participate instead of just watch would help with viewership not just for the debates but for the entire campaign.
(Semi-related, I think I heard from Clay Travis & Buck Sexton the idea of either having one of each side, or having two debates, one in each camp--so one on a democrat-leaning place like cbs, nbc, etc. and another on a right-leaning place like Fox, TPUSA, daily wire, etc.)

The mayor said all those threats were hoaxes and many of them came from foreign sources. Sounds to me like Dems were setting up fake hoaxes to make Trump look bad.
Also, what Vance said was that they were creating the headlines. Springfield, OH and towns like it were not national news until Trump brought it up at the debate. So yes, Trump literally created the headlines about it. That doesn’t mean they created the complaints that the citizens of that town have been bringing up for MONTHS.

The question is why don't Dems care?
He's not going to apologize for giving citizens a voice when they were being ignored by those who are supposed to be working on their behalf. I noticed Waltz copying Vance’s mannerisms after a couple of questions. Every time Waltz lied, Vance made eye contact with the camera 🤣 Vance absolutely knocked it out of the park! JD Vance was incredible. My only criticism is that he should've have defended Trump better when pressed on the 2020 election because we know the left will turn that into a major talking point and political ad, but other than that he held his own and stayed on the offensive on Tim Walz and Harris's record.

    • @owenbarrett2517

I agree but I think it’s a hard thing to defend, and what I mean by that is if he defends him and says yes it was rigged, yes he really won the left will say Vance is delusional and just a mini trump. And if he does what he did and just kinda dodges it in a way they will say even his VP knows he lost. I don’t see a way he could’ve answered it in a way to win people over.
And that goes whether you think he really won or not, just looking at the present state of the situation I don’t think there was a good way to answer that

In my opinion, the fact that JD Vance took the time to introduce himself at the start is what started the snowball rolling. Also, for anyone old enough to have been an adult on September 11th, 2001, it's highly doubtful that you don't know where you were when those planes hit the towers. The Tiananmen square massacre was a significantly greater event for those in China. There is no way you'd forget if you were there or not. He should have just said "I embellished a story to make a point and regret doing so, just like I did with my 'These are the guns I carried to war' statement".
