    Such a sad sad day for our sky line here on Merseyside. Been looking at these towers for years & years an to see these beauties blown up is heartbreaking. Ball bags they are.

      It’s ok they’re still building them in China. Our politicians are deluded if they think they can make an impact on carbon. Silly

      I went in the redundant cooling towers at Westwood in Wigan, late 80's. A truly amazing experience, it's a shock to see that they are just empty vessels mainly, just like a thrown clay pot on an immense scale. The acoustics in there were other worldly, it was an unforgettable experience that I was I'd photographed or better still videoed.

      @@GBPaddling I bet it was pretty cool, surprised myself how empty they are, but it makes sense also! There is something quite foreboding about them on the skyline.

    Used to be able to see the power station from our house in Helsby, when I was a kid. My Father would always complain when we left the lights on, "It's not bloody Fiddlers Ferry, you know!" Later, the huge steam clouds which pushed through the lowest cloud base was a reassuring guide when I was flying for Manx Air, back and forth from Ronaldsway into Liverpool. I've lived in Canada for many years. But feel a sadness now the powerstation is gone.

    Had a summer job there in 1994. Involved hauling coal in a dump truck from different parts of the plant. The most exciting thing I recall happening was when a rear axle broke 😂 I'm now living in the US, Minnesota, so I can relate to the freezing cold weather, in fact UK lows are our daytime highs!

      Uff-da! Lived in Minneapolis for almost 30 years. Worked for Northwest Airlines, and ended up moving down to Atlanta when we merged with Delta Air Lines in 2009. Loved living in Minneapolis, even in the middle of winter. Clear blue skies, hairs in your nostrils freezing, glasses fogging up when you go indoors on a really cold day, and best of all, no mosquitoes in the winter!!! Hope you enjoy life up there!

    So coal power is bad and must be ended (even though India & china are building 300 plants between them) but the burning of North American forests at the Drax power station is not only good, but state subsidized? On a dull calm day we're heavily reliant on the French & Norwegians to keep the lights on.

    There was a NOTAM in place for this demolition with a 1 mile radius from the site, your lucky to get so close without the police/authorities bothering you.

    • @DroneLife22
      @DroneLife22  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      There was no one doing any checks where I was, didn’t see much authorities about full stop

    • @allanb2906
      @allanb2906 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      A NOTAM is a navigation warning to other air users. It is not a temporary Flight Restricted Zone so the pilot was quite within their rights to fly. The official notice (which earlier stated that a "no fly zone" would be enforced by the police) was recently corrected to reflect this but requested UAV operators to refrain from flying overhead, which this pilot clearly observed.

    They will probably have been needed in the future, when all this green net-zero rubbish is seen for what it is. And don't forget, things that were got rid of in the past are now being put back. In hindsight the roundabout at savages bridge in Runcorn is a good example, not to mention trams are coming back in more and more towns so don't write anything off as you may need it again in the not too distant future, when we are all in our mud huts with no lights on and no cows to provide your Sunday lunch. Not as though could cook it that is? It's all complete madness
