    Diesel Peeps
Do you know what DEF fluid is? It's Diesel Exhaust Fluid. Every Diesel truck that has been made since 2010 is required to use it. It's a product made of 67% Urea fertilizer and 33% distilled water. Every diesel truck you see driving down the road today has to have this product to drive. The engines won't start without it. There are regulators inside the engine that mix DEF with the Diesel to reduce Diesel emissions. That's the purpose of DEF.
Right now, Russia is the largest exporter of Urea by a wide margin. Qatar is second. Egypt and China are Tied for 3rd. Both Russia and China have decided to no longer export Urea. On top of that, India is the largest manufacturer of Urea in the world even though they consume most of what they make. What little they would export..........they no longer do. They are now stopping the exportation of any and all Urea minus a deal they just cut with Sri Lanka.
What does this mean for you and me? Well, first, the United States imports most of it's Urea fertilizer. We are the third largest importer in the entire world. We depend on other countries to eat, drive and ship our products.
Secondly... Flying J is the largest Service provider for Truckers around the Unites States. I'm sure you've seen their massive gas stations when traveling around the country. Flying J gets 70% of their DEF fluid from shipments via Union Pacific railroad. UP has single user access to the Fertilizer plants that Urea/DEF fluid comes from. No other rail provider has access to these distribution points. This means Flying J can't just go around Union Pacific. Union Pacific is in charge....for a reason I'm gonna mention in a few paragraphs.
Flying J provides 30% of all DEF consumed in the United States. UP has told Flying J to reduce their shipments by a whopping 50%. And if they do not comply then they will be completely embargoed. That would in effect bankrupt FJ. This means that 15% of all DEF consumed by truckers in the US is no longer available at the largest travel service center for the entire trucking industry.
Rome rotted from the inside out. It was easily invaded because it was occupied with internal problems. It appears we have discovered the Trigger. DEF fluid. If this holds up, DEF shortages will be the catalyst that causes food shortages in the coming months. Not only is there a shortage of fertilizer to grow crops in drought-stricken states (See Kansas' drop in wheat production for 2022)....but....now it looks like, unless the Federal Government intervenes via the Defense Production Act, ...which I am no longer confident they will....there is gonna be an absolute massive shortage of trucking in the coming months.
There simply isn't going to be DEF fluid sufficient to keep the engines running and moving. Home Depot is now limiting the amount of DEF you can buy in their stores.
I would think long and hard about the decisions you are making right now. Where you live. What you spend money on. How you prepare. This is so real that the CEO of Flying J, Shameek Konar was summoned to a Surface Transportation Board hearing to give them all this info.
From what I'm reading....Blackrock is the majority shareholder of Union Pacific railroad. How is that important? Americas biggest fertilizer producer is CF Industries. Their largest shareholder is Blackrock. Blackrock controls the fertilizer industry in the U.S.. Union Pacific has exclusive rights to distribution points of fertilizer. Urea is fertilizer. Flying J needs Urea/DEF. Blackrock is controlling everything.
The Chairman of the BlackRock Investment Institute is Tom Donilon, President Obama’s former National Security Advisor. Tom Donilon’s brother, Mike Donilon is a Senior Advisor to Joe Biden. Tom Donilon’s wife, Catherine Russell, is the White House Personnel Director. Tom Donilon’s daughter, Sarah Donilon, who graduated college in 2019, now works on the White House National Security Council.
It appears Blackrock is spearheading the dismantling of the US system on behalf of the Globalists. And the first domino they are pushing over is the energy sector. They are using DEF to get the party started.

This won’t just affect propel with diesels. Every single person is going to feel this in their lives. Diesel makes the entire economy operate. Without fuel and trucks rolling, EVERYTHING will stop or carry serious price increases. Americans are using debt to offset fuel prices, when the credit lines are maxed out, folks won’t be able to commute to work, it’s getting serious.

Rays particular sense of humour and his superior skills in the English language is the "secret" to his success. There's other similar channels out there but I honestly only follow Ray. He makes the mundane fun to watch and his explanations and comments on what he's doing makes learning fun. A day when you can learn something new or make a new reflection on something is a good day. I've been following Ray since he had something in the neighborhood of 70' followers and I'm still appreciating every new video. (hope you can decode my English, I can't always find the right words or grammar but I try to) 😊

I was told many years ago, that to keep people interested, you first have to be interesting, and Ray has that hands down, his narrator skills are profound and he never over complicates things, if he communicates with his customers in the same manor and not try to bamboozle then with tech speak, then he is a go to mechanic, all to often you go to a service centre only to come away confused and bewildered by what the service manager or service tech has to say.
It's cool the way he works, it's great that he is sensitive to others, and he is always willing to go that extra mile for someone, even at his own cost sometimes too, a very rare breed in the motor industry these days. @Rainman Ray's Repairs keep up the great word and videos.

Been a Audi tech for years, practically the same motor as a 2.0t. The camshaft and oil pressure fault codes a lot of time come from lack of engine oil in my experience. Check the flapper arm at the end/side of the manifold to make sure it hasn’t popped out of the manifold. It was fairly common failure point for some of the early cars. You have to replace the manifold if so.

Carbon build up on the valves will cause cold start misfires first hand meaning ck eng lt will flash during cold start, and when it warms up the light will stop flashing. some customers will clear the codes before bringing it to the shop to prevent the tech's from seeing this, you are spot on it by looking at the valves and replacing the valve cover, keep up the good work.

I'm actually looking at replacing my camshaft sensor and did find a way to do it without removing the manifold on my 2015 2.0 Jetta. A t30 bit, tapped inside a box wrench and lots of tiny turns. It is probably a better idea to remove and inspect the injection than just replace the sensor but, I can do the sensor at home. If that doesn't solve the random every once in a while dies when idling at a red light then I'll take it into the mechanic. Mine isn't running rough just sometimes struggles to idle happens maybe a couple times a month if that.

Hmmm- you have an oil pressure code and a cam sensor code- seems that if you have low oil pressure, that affects the variable cam timing which would throw the cam sensor code- I would remove the oil pressure sensor and plug in a manual gauge to see if your pressure is low. You also had an oil temperature thing, which I could not see clearly, but a bad bearing will not only give you low pressure, but high temperature.

Love your logic. Been trying to help my friend with his troubleshooting skills. He just can't do it. He stop and think than starts checking random things. I told him time and time again " If you start at A and going through the system you WILL find the problem.
Eg: he had a '14 Cruze with overheating problem and code p00b7(low flow)glow.
The waterpump had been replaced already, so my friend pulls the codes, replaces the thermostat and both temp sensors and wonders why it's not fixed.
I told him to drive it with a scanner connected so he can see the temp at both sensors. He erased the codes and let it idle for 4 to 5 minutes until the gauge read full hot and TURNED OFF A/C message came back. Of course the code came back. I told him to pull the radiator and reverse flush it and check flow.
What do you think? Flow code and not check the radiator fist?

I have to admit, I always thought the "Approximately" comment when reading the mileage was a joke for laughs, and to trigger as many Re's as possible. I never considered that there might be a discrepancy between what the odometer and the ECM pid for mileage. I've learnt something new.

All newer vehicles with Direct Fuel injectors will eventually grime up the valves and must be cleaned off. You should do a video on oil catch cans and STP valve cleaners!!! New engines will not last long with the new Direct fuel injectors that are standard in most newer vehicles.

    • @peted5217

better quality engines also have manifold injectors operated occasionally to keep intake valves cleaner. Consumers very vocal over hi decarboning costs on direct (only) injector engines as they were with OHC fabric timing belts costs

Also, if that odometer readout was based upon the spinning of a wheel and tire, well, try measuring the circumference of a tire when it's new vs. when it's worn out.

Those codes can be related, the seat belt light is on because your scan tool was sitting in the passenger seat. They use and inductive mat for the PODS system. The oil temp sensor is located in the pan, those motors can have 2 oil pressure sensors one is a high pressure and the other is a low pressure switch. There’s a few tsbs for your camshaft fault.

As a parts person the lack of parts is bad. You need lifters for a gm good luck on that. For the longest time we couldn’t get certain filters or rotors.

Not sure about modern VW clusters, but the old ones did something interesting. They only stored the mileage in KM's and then converted it to miles if the cluster was set to imperial. They also only recorded the mileage to the EEPROM every 10KM. So if you unhook the battery, you lose potentially up to 9KM (6 miles) from the odometer reading.

Haven't finished the video yet, but as a long time VW owner, that seatbelt light is probably the passenger seat and caused by your scanner. I can't set a dried leaf on my passenger seat without setting off the seatbelt light. I have to use a cheater insert to help it relax.

The oil temp sensor is located in the oil sump. Oil temp and oil level sensor is the same unit. If there is goodies on the intake valves, then you should have a misfire. Not all the times, but 90% of the times. You can check the intake valves with a inspection camera. Go through the intake pressure switch. @Rainman Ray's Repairs

Camshaft sensors on some manufacturers can set codes if the motor dies in flight, such as a closed throttle deceleration. I think you're on track with the PCV system as this could cause dying on deceleration and possible setting of all the dtc's.

I’m a VW tech and can tell you those manifolds get replaced more than you can guess … The flaps go bad. I’d bet money it needs a manifold and less of a carbon issue. The other codes are usually seen with lack of oil… I’d start with checking the oil level ..and the manifold..
