Oh my gosh, I’m so glad I saw your video. I am a beginner in hand embroidery. So the needles you talked about and how many strands you use is very helpful. Thank you so much!
I’m picking up embroidery for the first time and just wanted to say: thank you very much for this video! It’s so informative and specific enough that I won’t be too lost finding the best tools to start with
Items: 1) Hoop (Comes in different sizes 3,4,6…) 2) Embroidery floss (Different brands, the ones mentioned in the video are brand DCM in 25 six strand floss). 3) Yarn or wool•• (Can be used sometimes to create texture and certain effects, anything can be used as long as it enters the eye of the needle, all about experiment). 4) Embroidery needle (Has bigger eye than normal needle, can come in different sizes as well, in the video sizes 3-9 are shown, the bigger the number the smaller the eye. He usually uses size 9 for 1 strand, size 7 for 2 strands, 5 for 3, and 3 for 6). Size 16 has been most suitable for medium yarn. 5) Threader -One for floss under 5 strands -One double sided with a hook for six strands and another hook for yarn. 6) Scissors -Big scissor for fabric -Smaller one for finer details -And one thread cutter 7) Heat or water soluble pen Used at the beginning stages of his work to transfer pattern onto fabric, now he prints directly on the fabric with his printer or uses sticky fabric.
Can the hoop be used on a finished garment. Would it distort the garment after it is removed. BTW, Fantastic Video. Looking forward to seeing and learning more
So glad you are making a hand embroidery channel! There are not many new ones out there:)
Thanks! And hugssssss. 🥰
