    When I set up my first 2 pet portraits I used a tool to get the RGB values for the color i felt was the best representation for that area. Then I used a couple online tools that take RGB values & give the best DMC color matches to that. I just looked through the suggestions it gave for each & decided from there.

    Love how you express your Neurodivergence and how you resolve those issues. The hair is down, Sweater is itchy part. very relatable. Also you are showing that even a ND person can be creative and crafty to a high level even when Winging it.

    I felt so called out when you said "everything is done... except all of the other projects I was supposed to finish before starting this one" soooooo relatable XD

    I love when I see the ‘hahahahaha’ scroll across the top. I also overestimate my projects /my capabilities and it makes me feel so much better to see that I am not alone.

    Hi, I've found your channel sort of by accident, I was looking for embroidery videos to "keep me company" while I board and you can be sure that I'll be here forever. There's nothing better than seeing someone else who embroiders telling the truth about embroidery. I'm also in the process of embroidering a huge piece (I estimate it will take me a year to finish it, maybe a year and a half) and seeing other people in the same boat as me is very comforting and encouraging. Tangent mode: I love Fantasia and I'm enjoying seeing the process of this piece.

    the front half of my house decided to become an unconnected 3-way switch. volunteers were the outside light, bathroom and opposite closet....it was the outside meter broken and ARCHING between sets of wires. any switch worked for any other room or no room at all.

    I I can totally relate to this power issue. A couple years ago, we bought a home that was built in 1913 and has layers from every decade. About 25% of the wiring is from the 1930s when electricity was first installed. We recently lost power to the room that was designated as my studio. Thankfully will be able to rewire the whole house next year.

    This was so informative! Thank you very much! I am a cross-stitcher, and I've only tried other types of stitches once on a tiny project before, I have this huge desire to embark on a massive, huge satin embroidery+beads project. Thanks for talking me out of it! 😂 At least for the time being, while I am uncertain about moving from one country back home, and then somewhere else. That piece would be such a pain in the a** to move with. But I am so so so eager to do it still, so thanks for the inspiration! Also, love your sense of humour 🔥

      @gettheetothestitchery  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Okay, I was about to be like Nooooo don't be talked out of it, do it! But then when you said moving... yeah that's the wise choice honestly. XD This is the problem I run into with these giant pieces I do now - I can't take them anywhere, and when I moved, I was so stressed out transferring them!

    I have a sewing uniform. It's my ugly comfy orange shorts, my red comfy t shirt that says, " Don't run with scissors!" That my kids gave me for Mother's Day about 10 yrs ago because they said it was the perfect mom shirt. Then, I finish off the ensemble with my jet-black compression socks. Oh yeah, everyone knows I mean business when. I look like a weirdo.😂

    RE your 'massive slant' - I think your *camera* wasn't perfectly aligned on the table. It was at a slight angle (aimed more towards the doorway than the other way) so that the table, being closer, appeared to be extremely slanted.

    • @gingerpunk916
      @gingerpunk916 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Agreed. It's basically as if your shot is a 1-point perspective drawing, and the little dot that everything is "perspecting" to is close to the wall where the door handle is (when the door is open).

    About matching colors: pantone has this clever thing, looks like credit card with small window. You use it to take picture of some colour, and then the app gives you exact hex RGB color numbers of it (or other colour system). The card bit is so the app can adjust for lighting and photo settings, when calculating the colour. Also... thread in skein does not exactly look the same as stitched, so if you want to be really exact I would do some stitch samples.

    What a lovely image to choose, and I'm sure it will turn out beautifully! I don't embroider (yet) and I really enjoyed seeing how you set things up, both at home and at the fancy old-school course in the UK.
    On the subject of backups, I like the "set it and forget it" kind of backup. I pay for Backblaze cloud backup, which auto-backs up at night when I'm asleep, and it has saved my bacon more than once, including when my work computer was stolen. That was 2 years ago, and just last month I found a thing I was looking for on the cloud backup of that drive, and _only_ on that backup. I'm more than happy to pay for the peace of mind. I really hope you can recover your files from your SSD!

    had a giggle at your "getting reset" with the hair, shirt, etc. When I need that, I get a good brushing of the hair (with maybe a ponytail, depending on the cleanliness of the hair), some lip balm, and a reswipe of deodorant.

    Hmmm.... stapling down the bed sheet corners sounds like a great idea! 😆
    The bookshelf isn't perfectly straight, either. I paused at 11:00 and can see that one side is closer to the edge of the frame than the other, it's just less noticeable due to being further away. Your camera was probably tilted horizontally -- i.e., camera right was slightly closer to you than camera left... Or you lived in some non-Euclidian Cthulhu dimension, idk.

    Hi again, Still binging all of your older videos. You may want to look into an electric staple gun. I bought the bullet years ago and mine still works like new and is so much easier to use. I had also meant to mention on another video, that you may want to consider a P.O.Box. I'm sure there are subscribers that would love to send you items that you want or need but don't have yet. I've seen (and sent items to) other TH-camrs that I watch. Just a thought. Big Hugs

    If you have the 2 inch plastic ruler used for sewing it has a centering feature on 1 side. 1 side is measured 1 thru 18 inches and the other side has a zero in the middle and goes out from there to 9 inches to either end.

      I have it actually! I think my eyes are just so bad that I can't really figure out the colors I want from those small squares. I know there's a version with actual swatches of the thread though, so maybe that would be better...

    So glad your day turned out better as it went. I hate it when things start breaking down all at once, which seems tobe my life over the past couple years. ... What a wonderful project.. huge.... it would take me forever and a day to finish. I love your channel... helps me know I"m not the only one who goes through all these same type of decisions and trials in life. I mean, if I was to got get a couple containers to organize a shelf, mine would be the ones that fit well at the bottom and are 1/16th of an inch to big at the top.. (which just happened to me). And yep I got four containers, but looking at the bright side, I love them and they can be used for storing more floss or something else. : ) Have a happy day!!!

    This video is so good, and so informative, how do you print out the pages for the whole pattern? I have an idea that’s similar to this one. I don’t have Photoshop but I do have Canva and Ibis Paint as well.

    • @gettheetothestitchery
      @gettheetothestitchery  ปีที่แล้ว

      I split the design up in Photoshop, but you can also just increase the size before printing and scoot the image around so you're always printing a new section.

    what's your preferred iron on interfacing for embroidery? I feel stumped by the sheer breadth of choices and not sure how to pick a good one

  • @pisceanplantboy5137
    @pisceanplantboy5137 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Do you keep the piece on the stretchers when done or was it just for stitching it?

  • @NanaVonn3
    @NanaVonn3 ปีที่แล้ว

    How do you keep the interfacing from coming free when you stretch the fabric on the bars? When I iron on before framing, the fabric always stretches and pulls from the interfacing.

    • @gettheetothestitchery
      @gettheetothestitchery  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This might mean that there's too much stretch in your fabric to start with - I've never had that happen, but I'm using a pretty sturdy cotton twill or gabardine that doesn't have any stretch or ease to it.

    I'm sad to say the shelf isn't perfectly horizontal either. You can see that when you zoom in. It's just more obvious with the table because it's long enough to go edge-to-edge on the screen.

      @gettheetothestitchery  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Duuuuuuuude... it looked so straight to me while editing, but when I watched it back on here, it's so obviously on a slight diagonal too. XD Dying... my eyes are the worst!

    In a digital world there is a saying: "If you have one copy, you do not have a copy"😅 Usual rule is to have 3 copies of important data: 1 in use and local, 1 in different location, 1 in the cloud. My hobby is photography... I know the rules... But I do not have 3 copies😂 I plan to change it but... to be honest... I do not have mental capasity to deal with it right now😅

  • @SecretSquirrelFun
    @SecretSquirrelFun 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Maybe there IS a massive slant in either the table or the room that the table lives in.
    Try checking with a fancy level, but if you don’t have one, a ball will roll or not roll depending upon your degree of slop-ee-ness.
    I’m a genius I know 🤣😳🤣

    As a computer person; drives will break if they do not have a backup. It is to the point of superstition in the field really. When you do have back ups, the fuckers do not seem to break. But real talk, get a cheap hard disk drive if nothing else. The reality is that all drives have a limited shelf-life, either a component breaks (HDD) or the rewrite limit is exhausted (SSD). The estimates I have seen is that to be certain; replace them within 3-5 years.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your informative and entertaining videos.
    Can I suggest using the "string technique" for centering your project - using a piece of string, measure one side of your frame. Fold the string in half and use it to mark the midway point on the fabric / frame. Fold your printed design into quarters. By aligning the marks and creases your design will be pretty perfectly centred.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Allison

    Also I hope your proud, I started embroidering because of you! I'm working through a bunch of starter kits I bought, and am still mustering the courage to start my 1 non-kit project.
    What do I do with all my finished kit peices??? Do I make a embroidery journal? Do I sew them all together into a quilt? Advice or suggestions, greatly appreciated.
    Hope you get most of your footage/stored data back! Can't wait to see what this looks like in uhhh six months?

      And as for the finished pieces... I'm afraid I don't have great advice. XD I have two big baskets of them just stuck in my storage cabinets! I display some of my favorite pieces in my home, I've sold a few here and there, I give them as gifts to family and friends sometimes... but yeah the bulk are just sitting in storage. The fun part is stitching them!
