Hi Magnus! thanks for the videos! If I have a 1500 unit, I don't need the smart console, can I manage it only through the GUI? Is there a big difference in the configuration options between the GUI and the smart console?
Hi, yes its a big diff between the smb appliances and regular gaia. The smb have many of the similar features but limited configuration possibilitys and capacity. Regards Magnus
When we create a virtual network card with address 192.168.1.0 it usually conflicts with our network card in the home router so I recommend configuring VMnet 6 with address 192.168.2.0
Sure, you need to map the ip prefixes so it works in your own environment :) What ip prefix is default for diff service providers routers differs between countries :)
Hi Magnus, I have doubt here. How two gateway device interfaces ( eth1-192.168.1.2/24 from m cp_gw1 and eth1-192.168.1.1/24 from cp_gw2) is connected to win10-192.168.1.50/24. I know Win10 devices have only one ether connectivity. Bit confusing here 😀😀. Even if you think this is silly question. Please 🙏 reply coz I'm new networking. I planning build my carrier in networking and security.
Not sure i follow the question 100% but, within the lab and in many other part of networking you do use virtual IP for clusters such as HSRP / VRRP etc. Within check point we are using cluster XL that works in a similar way. IE: Virtual IP .1 and then gw1 has IP .2 and gw2 has IP .3 The virtual IP is something that you pick when building the cluster itself (within smartconsole) Hope this helps Its coverd within the next video when its cluster installation time ;)
This is a very helpful video for the beginners whom want to pursue CCSA, Fantastically well presented video. Great work. waiting for part 2
Thank you. I hope that many techs will benifit from this :)
Being able to lab at home is essential to develop within it.

Hey Magnus,
Thanks for all the info it's been a great help!
One question I have is can we do this lab with VMware Workstation player?
I don’t know if it works in VMware player, I use the VMware workstation but you could build it in gns3 / eve-ng or similar
