They replaced “I love you “ with “I’m sorry and thank you”. I can’t use these words everyday without thinking twice now. 😂

its been like 11 months since I've watched the untamed and I've still not gotten over it. so I'm basically watching, reading stuff related to it, and also rewatching half the time lol.
but today for some reason I've been watching the Untamed reviews by different people and yours was the best one I've come across 😂💖
i love the way u describe the characters and certain things, they made me laugh 😂😂
at this point I've watch the untamed almost 20 times, and it doesn't include the donghua or the special episodes ✋🏻😭💖 i don't think I'll ever get over this drama 😭
like I've watched word of honor, it was good but i wouldn't rewatch it.
the Untamed though is different idk, i love the pain i go through rewatching knowing who's about to go down 😭✋🏻

WWX is my baby though. I Love him.
    Thank you!

Loved every second of your video, it’s just so fun and fascinating to hear you analyse the story and characters. And as a mandarin speaker , I can confirm you do pronounce everything fairly well! Well done haha

Oh gosh, thank you! I'm glad that you enjoyed it and it's so comforting to hear from a mandarin speaker that I didn't completely butcher all the pronunciations. As you could tell, I was very nervous about that. I have a French name that's consistently mispronounced, so I'm always self-conscious about trying to sincerely pronounce foreign words/names correctly :)

This is the best review of the Untamed I've ever seen. The smartest too. Good point about the stygian tiger amulet, I get aggravated by Gk translations of Asian language words--just use plain English ones. The queer-coding works here so well, yeah baby, the script is so clever, I love the drama better than the novel because the novel is... uh... too much sex (did I write that?) and the drama is streamlined, the narrative is so clean (took 2 yrs to write if I remember that correctly?)--even if WWX is less morally gray. Your pronunciation is very good. Great review. YEY FOR EVERYONE BEING SO GAY IN THE UNTAMED.

Great review. I love love the untamed. Its a masterpiece. There so many good theme and lesson learn from this drama. Its not just about romance but everything from family relationship to friendship, to right and wrong good and bad and humanity as you mention and many more. The storyline is so in depth with rich twisted plot. There are varieties of characters that any type of audience can connect or relate to. I basically love everyone even the villian because we can sympathize with their story and we understand their motivation and why and how they become the way they are. Also this show brought a lot of rollercoaster of emotion while I was watching this. I was rivetted to this show from beginning to end. You're right, no scenes are filler, every episode has meaning and important message to deliver. I have watch so many popular drama and love so many such as eternal love, ashes of love, love o20, and even word of honor, but the untamed is one of the most special one in my heart. I just recently follow WOH, another popular BL after the untamed. I like it, its entertaining and the chemistry and flirting of the leads are great. Unfortunately, the plot and storyline is not as captivating as the untamed to me. If the untamed have more flirting and touching like WOH, its would be perfect. However, I'm not complaining, the untamed subtle romance is already superb. Overall, love this show to the bottom of my heart and I hope more people would watch and appreciate this show. Its just sad how some people give up on this show after 1 or 2 episodes because they think the cgi is bad and that it look stupid. I just hope people give this show a chance, be patience for a couple episodes before the show captivate us into their beautiful fantasy world and storyline. Again, thank for a wonderful review

Thank you! I agree: lots of people aren't willing to follow something like a "three episode rule" with shows, because it's never a good idea to judge a show solely on its pilot. And you're so right about the CGI judgement -- like...people need to realize that a lot of this is not only (a) part of the stylization of these shows, but also (b) this is not something with a like HBO show-style budget.
I also fully agree with WOH: it doesn't integrate its plot and characters to the level that Untamed does, so I've kind of been skim-watching it. Basically, if I don't see WKX or ZZS onscreen, I basically skim over it...and it hasn't affected my understanding of the story at all, which isn't a great sign in terms of the strength of every scene/character. But, I do think its two leads are dynamite and their dynamic is a delight to watch when I want some, like, instant seratonin :)

I love how you say The Untamed is the gayest C-drama you have ever seen when you have already watch Word of Honor. Well i've watch both shows and Word of Honor have more bisexual or whatever physical contact, i'm surprise tha it went pass sencorship. BUT, still, nothing is compared to The Untamed for me. It was all sutte, from their eyes to acton but those small action speaks a lot. Thanks for the review

I know WORD OF HONOUR brush up against the censors and had to make a bunch of changes, noticeably with dialogue and such. I would say yes it’s more physical that UNTAMED, and you could say ergo it’s more queer, I’m just with you that nothing compares to UNTAMED. I prefer subtlety and the intimacy it created to the overt physicality of WORD OF HONOUR…also I didn’t love the writing of WOH comparatively, and found its storyline lacking overall. Still fun and enjoyable, but definitely weaker on that front.

Brilliant review, thank you! I can totally relate to your pov that censorship makes the scriptwriters work harder to depict queer romantic relationship without throwing it right in ur face and that’s somehow beautiful...? Maybe it’s just me but I personally enjoy implicit expression of love. The 999 different ways wy&lz /wkx&zzs(woh) stare at each other says more than thousand words.

From what I know hanguang jun is "second jade" as in the second son of the family or the second prince. He is sort of like a prince tho, the is the second person in the line of succession of the Lan clan.

Ahh-- I remember that he and his elder brother are called the "Twin Jades," so now it all makes sense lol

So are you going to watch the animated version? It's really good and the subtitles actually translate some of the words that aren't translated in the live action.
Also, Heaven Official's Blessing, an even longer webnovel by the same author, has an animated version. It's also really good. There is a Live action adaptation that's been in post-production limbo for years.

I have watched the MDZS donghua and I thought it was alright - the censorship was far more pronounced both with the lgbtq+ issues as well as the violence so it made for a kind of discordant viewing experience.
I have read TGCF in its entirety and am caught up on both seasons of the donghua which I am thoroughly enjoying - it’s a good ride. Sad for the live action adaptation alongside other danmei adaptations; if only china hadn’t cracked down on them, both it and several others could have long released by now.

So you actually did fairly well with the names, though Wei Wuxian is pronounced “way woo she en” not “she an”.

Ack, my bad! I was trying to mimick the way I heard it in the show, but I guess I misheard it -- thanks for the correction! :D
