Funny I just got home from shopping at Kroger before watching this. Didn’t realize how long it’s been around and all the things Kroger pioneered! Thanks Bernie Kroger! 😊
Perhaps it is nostalgia, but I wish I could once more shop in a Kroger's store! Granted, I never 'shopped' there, my mother did and I was riding in the shopping cart in the late 60s/early 70s.
Actually while I was growing up we had no Kroger stores even close to us. We shopped at A&P mostly as it was very close by. Also Chatham’s, Wrigley’s and Great Scott! This is in the Metro Detroit area during 60’s and 70’s. I think I first shopped at a Kroger in the 80’s when I first moved out on my own.
I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. Some of my earliest memories were at Kroger's grocery stores. Kroger's was where my mother always shopped; as young as I was I still remember the blue/white logo. I think Kroger's left the KC metro area in the early to mid 1970s. I thought they were all gone; glad to see they are still around!
I live in Detroit, Michigan. There, was the Great Scott !Supermarket chain. Than, back in the day, Kroger bought the Great Scott! SUPERMARKET chain and rebranded Great Scott !Supermarket chain to Kroger. And, to this very day ,Kroger is still going strong.
I shopped at Fry's crocery stores in Portland, O. They've 'Premium Select' products were as good if not better than name brands. I really miss Kroger stores!
There are 2 Kroger stores close by in my community in Ohio. I shop there often when I need pick something up. Kroger has digital orders now that have employees get for the customers and then the customers can pick with the order already paid for. This is convenient for people who are very busy. I only wish that their operating hours were longer like they were before the pandemic hit.
It's kind of funny. My father work for Kroger's and my aunt worked for a&p. They used to sit down and argue back and forth about which store was better. It was hilarious
My father worked for Kroger's for over 35 years. We were a Kroger household. Everything we bought was from Kroger's. Everything we ate was from Kroger's. Everything we drank was from Kroger's so Kroger was a big part of our life growing up and we still go there for the fine quality and items that they sell
Kroger also entered the discount food business with its' Ruler Foods stores; now some 50 stores in the Midwest. Its' proposed merger with Albertsons would put some 60-plus banners under one roof with nearly 5,000 stores, covering most every state. But others before them have done that, and eventually failed. Time will tell. They left St. Louis in 1985, but have returned with a few Ruler stores.
I live in Las Vegas and Smiths is the Kroger here. For the most part they suck. Publix in Florida is by far the best grocery store I know of and I've live all over this great nation. (HEB in San Antonio Tx, wasn't too bad.) I've been an independent distributor for 23 years. My life is going to the grocery store, at lest 6 stores 6 days a week. Kroger is dirty, cheap and not very friendly. To customers or vendors. Since year 2020 the price of their food has only gone up while portions sizes go down. Their employees are not very happy to work there either. Kroger and Walmart make billions by running dirty, nasty over priced markets. Time for a change.
I worked for a Kroger in Baton Rouge when they decided to close down and fire everyone in order to stop paying employees a living wage. I do not step foot in Kroger on principle.
kroger this is why you dont have employees at all. Because of stupid rules like this people are let go of stupid policys and tell others hey Kroger isnt a family company. Its like a company who likes to snitch on you. This is petty stuff and honestly. those who are rude and mean make me not want to be apparent of this company anymore I say shop at meijer way better run this company underground.

There's a supermarket near where I live in Chicago that sold Kroger brand products. 🛒

Had a Kroger store locally for at least seventy years and they left about one year ago
Why is it called King Soopers in Colorado?
I love these stories but the music sounds like death.
