  • Kicking off the summer with a spectacular 360 degree view of the North Cascades from Ruby Mountain. The view was hard earned with 6700 feet of climbing over 17 miles. We approached from the south from Fourth of July Pass via Thunder Creek. The use trail from there is no longer maintained and features hundreds of blowdowns which make for slow going. Once you leave Panther Creek trail, water is scarce (i.e. none) so you'll have to fill up prior to the turn off.
All in all, a wonderful long day in the mountains.
