I owe this movie a lot. I was someone who was constantly putting my job ahead of my well being both physically and mentally. That was easy to do while I was single because I didn’t have anyone who it truly felt like needed me around. Then my fiancee came into my life and I realized as much as I admired James Kirk, I didn’t want to have that same feeling of loneliness he does. He loves the mission but still feels an emptiness because he knows he can only be Captain Kirk for so long, and never bothered to make sure Jim Kirk has a life waiting for him off the bridge. Patrick and Bill play off each other so well I just wish we had gotten more of them together. However as all trek fans know, all good things must come to an end

Funny thing, the part where Data was singing the "Lifeform song" was NOT in the script for the movie. Thay was adlib by Brent Spiner and the director loved it so much it was left in. So the reactions of everyone on the bridge while Data was singing was a completely authentic reaction by all of the actors that were there.

"The director loved his intentionally improvised song so much he left it in, cause the script called for it." doesn't really work, does it?
"So the reactions of everyone on the bridge while Data was singing was a completely authentic reaction by all of the actors that were there."
So you mean that they were so shocked at the tune he decided to sing, they all broke character and potentially ruined the scene, despite the script saying that he was supposed to sing? That doesn't really work either.

The 70 years between the Enterprise B launch and the start of TNG is referred to by fans as "the lost era" because we don't really know what happened between those two events.
Fun fact, the villain in this movie was married to Clara from Back To The Future III. He usually plays villains and psychos, but he's evidently a pretty nice guy.
The familiar looking crewman on the Enterprise B is Tim Russ, he's Tuvok on Voyager, he's also been in TNG and DS9, he was in Die Hard 4, he's "we ain't found SHIT!" in Spaceballs, and he was the principal on iCarly.
The science officer on the B looks familiar, she's the mom in Terminatorr 2 (the one with the blade hand) and Vasquez from Aliens.
The black uniforms they keep wearing in this movie were borrowed from Deep Space Nine, they didn't have the budget to make their own (this movie was shockingly inexpensive). You notice that Riker's sleeves are really short, because he's so tall. That's why they're rolled up so awkwardly.
I just noticed Data's Sherlock Holmes pipe on display in his quarters. Nice touch. Worf's medals on his sash are different (he has a seat now, as well!) ... and the Enterprise B is christened with a bottle of Chateau Picard champagne.
They made this movie a week after wrapping the show.
As for why Picard couldn't go stop the fire? Well, one he didn't know where and when it exactly happened, but also he can only make one trip. I dislike this movie, but this is one of my all-time favorite lines in the entire franchise. Not only is it a great literary quote, but it foreshadows the reveal of what happened to Picard's family. Soran used his El-Aurian abilities to sense what was wrong Picard, and uses the quote to try manipulating him. Picard's reaction shows how successful it was. 33:47 In real life, Shatner is an accomplished horseback rider and breeder. Those horses are actually his, and he rented them to the studio. He also taught Patrick Stewart how to ride. That moment around 34:16 when Shatner makes the horse walk sideways is purely him showing off his skills. The cabin has a Klingon bat'leth on the wall, as a reference to what happened in the other movies. The climactic scene on the cliffs of Veridian III were filmed at Valley of Fire State Park, just outside of Las Vegas. I went there during a road trip a few years ago. Good times.

Also to add to that if he had it when they beamed him onto the Enterprise B, why not use it THEN?? Just one aspect of this movie I freaking hated so much......when the Enterprise visited a devastated planet with what appeared only two survivors, the actual only survivor was a "Dowd", a Q like creature that could create, destroy etc. He recreated his house and his wife, even though she died by an attack of an alien race. Anyway, long story short, when the Enterprise came, they wanted to take them with them, since they were the only survivors on the planet. The 'alien' did not wanted it, and so he created a 'warship', one that was 5 times the mass of the Enterprise. At a given moment Riker ordered to fire ALL weapons, and we see the Enterprise pumping out a barrage of at least 8 photon torpedo's and several phasers blasts to the warship (since the warship was a fake it had no effect). ^^siggh, then in this movie, why not give the same command to fire at the Bird of Prey, shields down or not, the Enterprise is not that easily destroyed, but just one volley of photon torpedo's and a phaser strike and the old Bird of Prey would have been a goner. When this happened I wanted starting eating the ceiling and feed the cat to the mice...... 🤐

"It's not just about the destination, it's about the journey."
"Maybe it's not the destination that matters. Maybe it's the journey. And if that journey takes a little longer so we can do something we all care about, then I can't think of any people I'd rather be with, than this crew. To the journey!" - Ensign Kim, Star Trek Voyager

    My favorite Star Trek film.
Very well executed. The mystery, the meeting of Kirk and Picard. The iconic line by Whoopi Goldbergs character "You are In The Nexus" is great in its delivery. The best film of the Picard Era in my opinion. I think you and Carly should watch and react to "Bicentennial Man" together. Its a great 1999 drama starring the late Robin Williams. It is a very nice film with a beautiful score by the late and great James Horner. From the director of Mrs. Doubtfire and Harry Potters 1 and 2, Chris Columbus. It is a great film with alot of heart. I thoroughly enjoy your reviews Cassie. Glad you are doing this film.
