I use to work in LA Lincoln Heights everyday at USC Medical off Mission Blvd and Valley right in front of Lincoln' Heights park and Hazard park in the back of SC. I would take my breaks at the park and chill at the pond. I would drive from OXNARD aka Chiques to Los everyday. I would stop at 711 and the Charos on the corner of Main st. Bomb burritos. Cruz down Soto and stop at King Taco. A Shout out to East Los from OXNARD CHIQUES 805 VC. God Bless this man and his family.

Beautiful story brought me to tears . I work with your dad over 30 years ago as a baker in Old County Bakery in the valley and then years later in Montebello . I always knew him as a great and lovable person to respect because of his humbleness Vato . I remember your dad running into me at El Ranch market and call me El güerito. . He use to call me carnalito at work .Im way younger then your dad , he actually started at the bakery with my dad and brother Alfonso AKA Ponchito let him know we say hi and continue being the cool vato I always thought he was . Viva la family from Lincoln heights . I don’t live to far I would like to come bye some day to say Hi with my carnal Ponco 👍🍻salud to all the Vaca family
I grew up in Pomona CA. My dad drove his Helms Bakery truck. He was known as the donut man. He drove his truck during the 60's,70's,and early 80's.I really love the surroundings. i would join him on weekends . Today I still live in Pomona, this time I'll have my wife enjoy Lincoln Park show what the real culture.
This was so beautiful, I’m in tears. I live only 2 blocks away from Sacred Heart and I remember always seeing Frank in his chair in the front of the school. Next time I see him, I am definitely letting him know of how much of an inspiration he is. God bless
This was an amazing account of so many barrio stories. My siblings and I went to OLHC on Ave 20 and Darwin (between Main and Broadway) At the time we grew up and lived in Cypress Park - this documentary reminded me of my walks down San Fernando Rd. to get from CP to LHTS and seeing and hearing the sights and sounds of the hoods. My fondest memories where chilling at "the Whites" - Downey Park - the Brewery - my gfs a couple a blocks away from each other- one a "gothy new waver" the other an oldie , banda and mariachi with a tinge of alternative loving girl who introduced me to Brenton Wood... love Lincoln Heights... A beautiful account from the Vaca family - Brown Pride
Growing up In Lincoln heights born & raised on Clifton st. Memories of ole friends. Great story of the family history. May god bless everyone giving your life to the lord is the way to the kingdom of heaven. God bless LHTS...
Oh snap I know who they are!! Frank vaca and his family lived around the corner from our apartments on Sichel St!! My brother and I used to always walk to the liquor store and when we passed by their house they used to always say what’s up to us!! Cool people man!! My dad knows the señor frank Vaca Sr.!! Orale that’s bad ass!!! 🙏🏻
Wow. Definitely a super interesting perspective into a culture that is so foreign to me! We as Chicanx individuals have a huge responsibility to represent and give back to our community. While also honoring our culture. Evidently, you are doing just that! Truly a great documentary. Awesome Job!!!
Gabriel from Los Yesterdays here: David Trevino, stellar job on this my man. To Frank and his familia, you are all a inspiration hermano!!!! Mil Gracias gente!
What a Crock of BS! This makes it seems like this was THE family of Lincoln Heights. I lived there from 1963-1990. I have never heard of this family. Back in the day that community had pockets of areas that were "controlleded" by certain families and this wasnt one of them. Not dissing this family, but I dont appreciate how this was put out. I love all of my people, but i dont appreciate Hollywood and sellouts putting this crap out to make to money.
That's probably because they didn't gang bang so why would know them..this wasn't American Me this was a story about how a family should be . Look homie I mean no disrespect but this was story of a family how quickly I life could change and think we can all relate to that.
My mom was born and raised in Lincoln Heights. My grandma lived at the same house until about 3 years ago. Live in Highland Park but Lincoln Heights was definitely my second home.
Easy could sing that's why we like the music,,and why we hate them because there disrespectful there too loud and there dirty but not all of them but the majority just keeping it real ,,you asked and I answered.
@@mannuel13moroyoquie48 So Mexicans aren’t loud? They don’t have 3 families living in one house who take up all the street parking? Or when they have family parties every weekend? Or getting drunk all the time. And when they get drunk they like to fight.
Since when does chicano immigrant exist... A chicano is born in us soil ..get your facts.. Im a mexican immigrant raised in nela and pochos never have history correct...one minute your mexican, next minute american, next minute chicano... Use the correct term, american of mexican descent... sincerely a true paisa born in the motherland raised in nela an actual immigrant
These dudes put in work on some paisas 🤦🤦🤦, the Mexicans are not banging & packing straps unless they're from 18st or MS 😂😂. The ones who shot him are just bullies. That's why you gotta stay strapped
