  • Inspired by the technicalities and challenges of flight, Dan Mcmahon entered the Army as a helicopter pilot and quickly found himself on the frontlines of Vietnam. His missions involved what he calls, "just hauling lots of stuff." The CH-47 Chinook was a workhorse in the war transporting men, livestock, ammo, food, and other supplies. His missions became more daring as the war raged on. Aircraft recovery became commonplace, Dan hauled downed or disable aircraft such as the Cobra or Hueys in a daring effort. He recalls the weather and fuel levels being the primary concern, being shot at by the enemy was just another factor.
This is his American Warrior story.
