Thanks I am glad you enjoyed my video.
The Stillwater Callibaetis is one of my favourite Callibaetis patterns and it has served me well over the years. I now substitute brown holographic Mylar for the wing case as it is easier to work with.
      Cheers Phil

I've used snow shoe rabbit for the thorax it equals thorax + legs very buggy! It is possible to lose your mind trying to dub it but it is possible

      Hi Tim,
Thanks for taking the time to post your comment. Your snowshoe rabbit option sounds great. I don't think you can ever hurt a fly by adding some sort if rabbit fur option. I will give it a try.
      Cheers, Phil

Liked the frostbite wing case. Never thought about fanning the tail like that. Looks good!

Thanks Tylor, Frostbite also makes a great shellback on small scuds too.

Thanks ! Just used this to tie a few for tomorrow! I’m new so I substituted the turkey for hares ear 😕, I only had the flash in pearl and I haven’t gotten any UV stuff which I really need to get lol but they turned out good enough to trick a trout ! Lol

Hi Eric, I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed my video and that your modifications worked well for you. Substituting hare's ear for the turkey quill is a great idea. I will probably add some to my fly box too.
      Cheers, Phil

Hi Phil, very informative tutorial, great techniques on how to tie all the parts of the patterns. I watched another excellent tyer tie Rickards pattern. I was going to ask about about the differences among all the variations on this pattern but you answered it in your closing, how this pattern works for you on persnickety trout, I imagine because it's more realistic? I think I tied a full back pattern that may have been Rickards when I first started tying, not knowing what callibaetis was, just to learn how to tie various patterns. I still don't know what half the things I tie are, lol, but I continue to tie what works and what I see in the water. With help from people like you I continue to improve. Thanks.

Hi Joe, thanks for the kind words. I am pleased to hear that you found the video helpful. Like you I also tie and use Denny's Callibaetis pattern. It has also worked well for me when Callibaetis are active. It is always a good idea to have a few different patterns for each food source as you never know which ones the fish will prefer on any given day. Plus it is just fun to fill fly boxes with flies. :)
      Thanks, Phil

Hi Hugo, not sure where you are based in Canada but many western Canadian Fly Shops in carry Frostbite. If you email me at flycraft@shaw.ca I can send you a listing.
      Thanks, Phil
