The best upright vacuum cleaner ever made they lasted a lifetime used very low power motors yet were excellent vacuums and environmental friendly

Great work again Sam on a very popular and very much loved old vacuum cleaner! It deserved the new parts and the refurb!

Thanks! Feels good to unload the parts cannon occasionally! (some of the stuff I replaced went back into the spares stash that was still fine though 😂)

Thanks! Sure does, and it's nice to have a benchmark of what one sounds like with brand new spinney bits vs one ive lubricated the old bearings on (not much difference tbh, it's the brushroll bearings that make them noisy)

Amazed how well you can disassemble these vacuums and get all the parts freed without damage, and not lose them either!
I always save garbage parts because never know when you might need them to cobble together a fix. I mark the part as "Damaged do not use" in my parts inventory so I don't accidentally grab it and forget it's junk. I have used broken pieces of wheels before to melt into repair material for plasti-welding cracked hoods and handles. Have also used taped up and dog chewed power cords to rewire vacuums that have had their entire cord cut or rotted off as temporarily cables until I can afford period correct cloth cords for my antique vacs. A lot of vacuums you might be waiting 5+ years to find parts, so always good to make a temporary permanent repair and call the resto done for the sake of sanity. Then can revisit it later on when a part surfaces. For me - 7 years on the hunt for a rubber access door plug for a Hoover Z400/Z700 and still no luck.

Love the Chanel. Really interesting and full of good advice and tips 👍👍
Hear is a tip from me,that might come in handy. Over the years i too have repaird and refurbished Juniors and Seniors. I have found, and probably, you to, that the supply of (genuine) replacement bearing assemblies is becoming peaty hard to source, and the ones I’ve come across have been sitting on selves or in packets for years, resulting in the grease inside becoming (Hard) and generally past it. The new replacements available from Qualtex and other suppliers being of much lower quality .
I decided to think (Outside The Box) on this.
If you are relatively skilled with a Angke Grinder and have a vice. Clamp the bearing assembly by the flange in a vice and carefully grind the ridge off. This will allow you to remove the back plate. Inside us a thin locating shin and this houses and locates the (felt washer) the same applies on the other side In between sits a ( Ball Race Bearing) assembly size (629Z). The (Z) denotes (Metal Shield)
Now as a replacement and to add ( extra protection) agaist dirt ingresses I’d use the ( Rubber Seal) equivalent.
If you are carful you can push this back into the housing and solder the back plate back on.
This effectively results in a (Good Quality) bearing assembly and will increase the motor life as well as running (smother and sweater).
I use a company that always supplies good bearings ( QualityBearingsOnline) there fast and reliable. The bearing I favour are SKF ( Swedish) as they are renowned for quality and longevity.
Anyway I thought this might be useful to you.
Please let me know you’re thoughts and if you have given it a go.
Keep up the excellent content👍👍👍 Jason
