Moon really needed a LOT of strong willpower and mentality to overcome the MASSIVE weight of her powers and avoid falling apart into… *this.* It’s easy to overlook how much absolute misery Moon’s powers have put on her. But make no mistake: they could’ve torn her apart if she allowed it. They don’t supposedly drain away her soul like an animus, but they bombard her with headaches from other dragons’ emotions and nightmare simulations of screaming death. That’s more than enough to make just about anyone lose their mind. The mindreading wasn’t an issue for most of her childhood because she was alone in the rainforest with just her mother’s thoughts, but they were quickly picking up the instant she began being surrounded by other dragons to the point that she would have to fly off and hide somewhere far and isolated just to get rid of the horrible skull-splitting migraine. And her future visions were an even worse case. The constant prophecy of Jade Mountain crumbling apart with hundreds of dragons screaming and dying all around her went on for SIX MONTHS. And most of that time she had absolutely no idea where, when, why, how, or even who was involved with those visions, which made her powerless to do anything but endure the endless nightmares that she couldn’t even hope to understand yet. And for a long time she couldn’t hope to find anyone who understood and could help due to her being the only dragon with the powers in millennials. I can just about guarantee that if Darkstalker didn’t teach her how to control her powers with the ancient teachings, Moonwatcher wouldn’t have been able to handle them during her stay at Jade Academy. Moon was always at huge risk of being crushed by the weight of her powers like how she is in this video, and it’s a blessing that she was able to find the strength and the help to endure through to the end and get her happy ending. She sure as the moons themselves earned it.
Interesting to think that if WoF had been tailored to an older audience, something similar could have happened either with her, or another dragon, possibly even clearsight.
