The last episode of the season absolutely carried it up from just average to very good, but I still think it falls short of Entertainment District and the movie. I think it's the writing rather than the animation and cg stuff too. Gyutaro and Akaza are deeper more interesting villains than Gyokko and Hantengu. Gyutaro especially made me feel like the world deserved him becoming what he was while Hantengu was just a garbage human and Gyokko didn't even have a backstory.
Yeah you’re absolutely correct. The animation have always been a strong suit for the series and having extravagant finale really brought up the rest of the season. The villains like many have said are mainly throwaway with little to no backstory. Wasted potential as upper moons
Just wanted to drop in an give you a compliment on this video, bro! Very well done and to the point. I felt the exact same way after watching Charlie's video and I'm glad I was able to find someone who shared my perception of this season and was able to explain it clearly and concisely. Keep up the great work!
Thanks man! Yeah I’m pretty passionate about the series and seeing that Charlie’s review was missing some crucial information I felt like I gotta clear it up for anybody who watched his video.
I think most ppl’s biggest issue with this arc is definitely the pacing. While pacing has never been a strong suit before, this season tension breaking flashback and DBZ-style stand off just takes it to the next level which interferes with my viewing experience. Another gripe is that I was not sold on the climax for the last episode when tanjiro was trying to chase down hantengu and somehow the stakes is higher because the sun is rising? Is there some other demon technique that can teleport the demon to the dark that I was supposed to know? One last gripe of mine this season are the main protagonists and antagonists are generally pretty lifeless and boring. The lone bright red star among the dull is obviously mitsuri. Not only she’s an eye candy, she’s also fun and brings an abundance of energy unmatched by anyone else. But of course, we got too few of her
Yeah without the flashbacks the fights would have been over so quickly. Goes to show that this arc was somewhat rushed. It’s kinda rough that the season stopped here because we get basically no information on the demon slayer mark. In terms of the climax tho, I think it’s supposed to highlight tanjiros character flaw and having him choose between his sister and innocent swordsmiths. It’s pretty clear he chose nezuko but in the end it didn’t matter cuz plot. Looking forward to next season for them to clear up some stuff and hopefully we get to see some of the infinity castle arc? but I wouldn’t hold out on that
While season 2 is definitely more battle climatic, season 3 is WAYY more emotional. Let's be real, we didn't get to know anything about Tengens siblings, they were referenced once and thats it. We didn't even see their faces. Meanwhile Yuichiro dies and we feel like shit and know why Muichiro has memory loss. Also Gyokko seems like fodder because he fought the literal 4th strongest Hashira. the only ones stronger are Gyomei(1) Sanemi(2) and Giyu(3). Muichiro was stronger than RENGOKU bro people don't know how crazy busted he is.
Well it could be both. Would be cool to see epic fights to the death every time but like I said in the video, if the characters aren’t powered up, the upcoming fights for them would be booty cheeks. Overall, yes, this arc and the next one are more so filler and world building like I mentioned towards the end of the video as well
I think Demon Slayer will come back strong in the Infinity Castle Arc. The Kokushibo and Akaza fights (should) be great, and I am really looking forward to them. I can't wait to see moon breathing animated
I am looking for the infinity castle arc too. So many amazing fights. Makes me wonder if we’ll see a bit of it in the coming season since the hashira training arc is relatively short
Wow, yet another TH-cam video from my favorite TH-camr, wongdiggidy! I especially enjoyed this content you have created! I found it engaging, insightful, and entertaining! 10/10!
It confuses me so much that people can literally have Tengen Uzui say verbatim; "You think I'm special? Don't make me laugh! There are people in this world that would blow your mind." While showing images of *Muichiro* and Gyomei, and yet still say "Meh Gyokko was less of a threat than Gyutaro." Like... Do people just not pay attention when there isn't giant flashy fights on screen?
Reality is, most people if they like a character will defend them to the ends of the earth. I’m guilty of that too but that’s why I try my best to present the information and provide a new perspective
I disagree with the major consensus about the Swordsmith Village Arc being a step-down. Every arc serves its own purpose and there's no need to always compare. The EDA needed to have that epic battle that has a really high-stake feeling, because it was the first defeat of an Upper Rank Demon in a hundred years. And that arc was simply written to have deeper demons with tragic backstories. I really liked that the SVA had two completely evil, unsympathetic demons. The fact that they didn't have any sad backstories is something I saw some other people liking as well because it's different. This is how the story stays fresh. Not every demon needs to be the same, what's wrong with some just being stepping stones for important character growth and revelations. Gyokko and Hantengu served their purpose in the story well, and if you think about it, they were the most useful demons for Muzan to this point. Gyokko found the village in the first place, where later Hantengu exposed the first demon that could conquer the sun. What did Daki and Gyutaro do, just die? I think the story of Demon Slayer only gets better from beginning to end and there is no part where it "falls off". I'd personally never call this or the next arc filler. It feels like people mostly dunk on this arc because it didn't have a fight as intense as Tengen vs Gyutaro, when it was never even meant to have one. It had many other good things that compensate for that. A big weakness of the EDA arc is that it didn't introduce any new long lasting characters. Upper 6 gone, Uzui and his wives out, and the main squad already had plenty of screen time before. SVA introduced three big new players into the show, Mitsuri, Genya and Muichiro. And what's best, they actually stay in the story past this arc. They have incredible introductions, and I really can't see how they could have made the transitions between their backstories and fights any better. They were properly spaced and balanced out with all the fighting. People who didn't like it can think what they want, but in that case it really seems like they only care about the battles and not learning about the characters if they are bothered by the presence of the backstories. Season 3 is my favorite season exactly for that reason, because of the characters and what it all leads up to in the end. And the Hashira Training arc won't be worse than anything before it either, even if it's short. It is the perfect calm before the storm with yet again, plenty of mandatory character development that makes the upcoming arcs as great as they are. It's going to end on the best cliffhanger for the best section of the story, like its supposed to. Sorry for this being so long, just wanted to express how I feel. Liked the video, especially your other Gyokko one, where you hit the nail in the coffin with the character.
Thanks for the comment and the shoutout to the other video. It brought a good perspective from the other side of the community. Not everyone shares the same sentiment as you so it was nice to see when people prefer Season 3 over the other ones. I really enjoyed the SVA as well and despite what the title of my recent video may suggest, I know I'll enjoy the coming season as well.
Noone understands the powerscaling of this series, and it shows, tengen is one of the strongest hashira, he just didnt have a demon slayer mark, if he did he wouldve destroyed gyutaro, and no him not achieving the demon slayer mark isnt an example of him being less powerful or less talented than the other hashira as the other hashira only obtained demon slayer marks because tanjiro got it first due to a mix of sun breathing and other factors, then it spread through the others like a psuedo virus, like it did due to yoriichi back in his day, meanwhile tanjiro only got his demon slayer mark at the very end of the battle with gyutaro which was too late for tengen or kyojuro rengoku to get, and while muichiro does have the most potential of any hashira in the series, its important to note he is 14 as old as nezuko (A.K.A nowhere near his full potential) and would die to any upper moon without a demon slayer mark, all the hashira would lose to gyutaro and above without a demon slayer mark
I find it somewhat ironic that your initial statement applies to you as well. I literally showed a clip of tengen admitting he’s not as talented as the other hashira and then praising muichiro and gyomei right after. You can find him talking about it in both the anime and manga if you doubt the credibility. And there’s no way you think all the hashira would lose to gyutaro without a mark. We saw rengoku faring quite well against akaza who is upper 3 and even within the upper moons, the upper 3 vs lower 3 have a pretty wide power gap. If you read the manga you’ll know what I mean in the infinity castle arc. To say a hashira like rengoku or gyomei wouldn’t beat Gyutaro is just wrong my friend
@@wongdiggidy tengen said hes not talented and then used objectively the two most talented hashira as examples, not the same thing as what you said, gyomei is objectively the strongest and muichiro could surpass him just by getting older but tengen being self conscious about and refusing to admit hes special due to his past is not evidence of him being weaker, and as for him saying he "could never be like rengoku" that was due to rengoku saving everyone on mugen train and him not being able to save people the way he does, meanwhile in the same scene rengoku compliments tengens sword skills as a thing of beauty, which given this statement and musical score its safe to say hes a better swordsman than rengoku and considering rengoku is weaker, less experienced, has less hax and no poision resistance its a one sided battle

@@wongdiggidy agreed, I dont think you were trying to be rude sometimes its neccessary to be aggressive to get your point across, but I have seen too many people blindly accept tengens weakest due to fighting the lowest upper moon without looking at overwhelming evidence to the contrary through stats, statements, and feats, for example tengen got second in an arm wrestling contest between the hashira and was labled a tier above kyojuro, sanemi, giyu, and mitsuri, but noone acknowledges this or that tengen has the fastest movement speed (which wouldnt be alot by itself) if wasnt for the fact sound breathing is a derivative of thunder breathing which emphasizes strength in the legs, it can be argued tengens weakness is his attack speed with his "special technique" musical score negating attack speed but its certainly not AP or DC
