No one in the comments really giving credit to Rutgers. Obviously MSU gave them a ton of opportunities with the turnovers, but the turnovers were almost all great plays from the defense (only real dumb mistake was the first INT from the QB). Rutgers was also letting them back in it, then made some clutch stops and scored to put it away.
I don't know how sustainable this is for Rutgers this year. But schiano is a legit coach, they got a ton of talent through transfers. It's a good bet that RU isn't gonna be the joke of college football anymore that's for sure.

Well said. Is Rutgers going to beat OSU and Michigan this season, probably not. But Schiano just took what was basically the same team that was the B1G doormat last season, and made them look like they belonged in the conference. Now imagine what he can do 4 years from now after he's had plenty of time to convince Jersey's talent to stay home and build a system around them

Rutgers offensive line play and pass rush was a surprise. The swarming defense and ball hawking has Schiano written all over it.
The RUTGERS HC is an excellent coach.
I am a native New Yorker who has followed college football since MICHIGAN STATE's 10-10 WIN versus nd. I rooted for the FRANK BURNS teams. I rooted even louder for the teams of the current coach. When I saw the score moments ago on another site i went right to video here.

@@Medemaa his first few seasons he did terrible hence the bad record. Later on Schiano led them to be #7 in the country at one point. Big East at the time was tough (obviously big 10 is tougher) but I wouldn’t just discredit Schiano. Rutgers did a 180 under him

I hate how at the end the commentator says that they handed this game over today and they have to "clean that stuff" up like giving no credit to Rutgers for the great effort. Just horrible coaching totally unprepared. With that comes turnovers and penalties. Just the fundamentals of how to hang on to the football blocking and tackling. This was painful to see and to not kick a field goal late in the 3rd quarter to make it 28-23 to keep the pressure on was just a bad call. You have to put points on the board with a whole quarter to go plus 3 minutes with the best kicker in the big 10.
Why did we start rocky when we have Payton why did we start Hayward when we have Collins this was Mel’s fault
