I almost commented on the original that this reminded me of when London's Scala cinema showed A Clockwork Orange without permission in the early '90s - the subsequent court battle against Warners (or Kubrick) led to the cinema's closure. I'm glad you made the change.
I've seen the original 1977 film projected from 35mm in Warsaw as recently as 2015; apparently it was the Polish release print from 1979, in remarkably good shape. It wasn't even a secret screening or anything, just part of a season of sci-fi films the Polish Film Archive was showing then. I was pretty surprised that they were able to get away with it, but maybe they just didn't make a big deal out of it, and on grating them the rights Fox assumed that they would be showing the newer, "special" edition. Or then Fox just didn't care what was shown in Poland. I doubt that they would be able to do it nowadays, though.
I watched the SE version when they were released. I have not seen the OT since. Totally ruined Star Wars for me. I even have Harmy's versions, taking up many many GB on my old RAID. But one day I will see his cut and hope I can remember the childhood joy I had from seeing the OT.
I just saw a theater showing of the 2011 BR version of ROTJ, and after watching nothing but the 4K83 version for the last year or so, it was very, very painful. Fuzzy, out of focus at times, bad, unbalanced CGI. Guess i got spoiled?
My late great grandmother and great aunt Rest In Peace had the 1997 special editions on VHS and we got rid of them after our VCR was Destroyed and right now my aunt has a copy but no vcr
Ever thought of migrating to America and Working in Hollywood for Lucasfilm so we can get a 4K remastered version of the unaltered theatrical versions of Star Wars?
I saw the original version at a drive in cinemas 15 years ago for the 30th anniversary it was incredible but have loved to have seen it in cinemas again maybe one day great video mate
Back in 2020 my local cinema was showing The Empire Strikes Back as part of *its* anniversary event (This was naturally after the full lockdown over here had been lifted, though the cinema still had limitations like needing to keep at least one seat's distance from anyone you don't live in the same house as) and I figured before going it would probably be either the BD print or the Disney + 4k print. Still went to go see it because the idea of seeing Empire on the big screen was tempting regardless. I was right in my assumption, though I couldn't tell you which of the two recent versions it was. idk if there's actually any difference. In either case, thankfully the edits to Empire don't actually bother me *that* much (worst for me is just the added dialogue in the Palpatine scene and that, while I appreciate them getting Ian McDiarmid in for it, it was still clearly Ian McDiarmid in Revenge of the Sith makeup that really did not look very close at all to how he looked in Jedi) so I had a dang good time overall despite it not being the version of the movie I would prefer they show. It was also unsubtitled, which for my part is fine since I'm fluent in English anyway, but I noticed that a few people there had brought their kids along and I have to wonder if said kids were able to get much out of it since they presumably didn't know English all that well... Just an anecdote of a vaguely similar albeit perhaps somewhat less fancy experience I had.
No všem nám tehdy spadla brada. Po filmu byla diskuze. 😂
Hello Harmy. Greetings Victor from Peru. First of all, I want to thank you for such a masterpiece that you made. We fans thank you very much. I am writing to you because I really want to get this original trilogy, and it is impossible for me to get it online. I'm not very good at those things. The question would be if it is possible to obtain this material in physical format? and of course I would recognize all the expenses that this implies. I'm not saying that I'll be paying for the film, which is what you don't want, right?, but rather that I would like to acknowledge the expenses that would be involved in making it physically. I await your response with the eagerness of a fan. Sorry for my English.

The difference between the actual movie and the "special" Edition are night and day.

Glad you enjoyed it my friend. I hope someday small theaters will be able to show the Despecialized versions you gave the world!!

A shame it was the Special Edition. Still very worthwhile.
You bring me joy
Can you do ROTJ De Ed DVD with the first ever THX Logo from 1983 that was shown for return of the Jedi
The saber on the Falcon being green instead of blue white is the accurate to the 1997 print?

Are subtitles common practice on foreign films in the Czech Rep.?
That’s not the original theatrical version that’s the 1997 special edition
35mm film prints offers realistic colors & blacks than digital.
not anymore
@@ray076NL Unfortunately, but we can repair them.
digital just has better color and blacks nowadays thats what i meant.
@@ray076NL Absolutely.
Why the reupload?
apparently to hide the face of the cinema's owner
Wondering this as well. Has anyone noticed what changed?
@@ViegasSilva Fair enough.
