      Texas has higher crime rate than New York

      That's not even appropriate, or funny, for a person that should be educated; and yes Texas has a higher crime rate. Respect to be respected.

      @@leibianafeliz5581 But Texas is still better. You tell me, why are y'all moving down here then? Sure the crime is a problem. Atlest down here we don't have to deal with the crazy high expenses of living, wackjob mayor's, and rats.

      @@obsidian1612I think you mean Californians. New Yorkers usually retire to Florida if they can afford it. And New York is one of the greatest cities on earth. If you like city life it’s an experience like no other

      @@matthewgabbard6415 not everyone like cities, a good place to visit yes but it is no place to live. I don't care if live on the best city on earth, life in a city is life in a city. Crowded, noisy, and are filled with scammers and crazies littering the streets, plus most people are rude and drive like crap. Also I like how you word your response "most move to Florida IF they can afford it." Give me a break. Lol where do they go if they can't? They go somewhere else, like here. But even then Texas is becoming a lot more expensive to live because of city folk are voting for laws that made where they came from more expensive in the first place. So i guess I'm moving again, I moved away from California for a reason.

    I think she meant Soho got its name because it’s south of Houston

    So, south of Houston St. was owned by Southerners? Were the accents different once you crossed over?

    Here in Georgia, we have a county named Houston and we say it like the New Yorkers do.

      In Texas we pronounce Houston as Hewston

      Then that guy that the street was named after in ny was from Georgia.

    Finally a explanation, as a Texan I get so annoyed watching law and order svu and they keep saying “houseton street” I had to look into it

    Hey, Texans. Prounounce Texas. Pronounce Mexico. Pronounce San Marcos. Pronounce San Jacinto. Pronounce Guadalupe. Pronounce Balcones. Pronounce Burnet. Pronounce oil. TIA.

    lol it’s Houston not Houston. My question was that man’s family racist being he was from Georgia the southern state like they like taking down everything that’s confederate or racist. I watch Law and order and Blue Bloods for the longest time. I thought it was just another street until I saw the street sign and I said that’s not the way you pronounce it.

    As a New Yorker, think about this: you don't pronounce House as "Hyews" right? It's pronounced like "howss." Also the NYC "Houston" literally drives from a ton of houses. Nope, just kidding. But we THINK of a ton of houses.

  • @lianachamplin1283
    @lianachamplin1283 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    We don't! We say it correct as we're one of the original 13 colonies. LOL Not to mention the "ou" phonogram as in "house or mouth" is pronounced "ow".

      However, Houston and Houstoun the surnames both come from Clan Houston in Scotland, where it is derived from "Hugh's Town" which would explain the "hew" pronunciation.

    The U got mugged? Sorry to say but Houston's crime rate per 100,000 people is more than double NYC (some are triple and quadrupled) in every major crime category. If you just look at the total numbers rather than the per 100,000 people, NYC's numbers are double but then NYC has 4x the population... That mugging joke was just pretentious.

    She made the same grammatical error that a lot of NYers do by referring to "the Bronx." It's Bronx, NY. Not "the Bronx." Just like Manhattan is not "the Manhattan."

    • @LovelysPetParent
      @LovelysPetParent 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It's "The Bronx" "Manhattan" "Brooklyn" "Staten Island" and "Queens." We only say or write "Bronx, NY" when addressing business.
