@@XKathXgamesActually, in the mid 20th century, we actually did attempt to change to the metric system, but it was too late to change, and NOBODY was taught about the metric system. So being the lazy slobs that we are, we decided to stick to the imperial system, because the school system never wanted to teach us WHAT A F%CKING KILOMETER IS.
First it is not degree kelvin, but just kelvin. Also as your video shows at 6:01 the meter was not tied to the speed of the light but to the wavelength of the red light emitted by Krypton. The tying to the speed of light came later in 1983.
My country went metric about 150 years ago. We still measure land size in "measures", and distance in "miles" (not the Imperial mile. We have our own mile thankyouverymuch). Only a few decades ago, my grandmother didn't understand the weight of babies unless it was given in marks. Lumber dimensions are still in "thumbs". I will claim butter is still sold in marks. Old habits die hard.
The bomb drop at the end. All of our measurements are based on other measurements. Yet if we somehow found out the base is wrong, everything must be redefined. Its not likely right?; but I say that to say we're looking at constants on a scale we can see. Which may be on the scale of billions. Yet if we scale out even further than we can imagine, even further than the regular numbers we consider large, and further still. How can we be sure the degrees of inaccuracy won't change like it did with the original meter?
1000 paces = less than half a mile (my pedometer says so). I'm average height, so unless this Roman is 6' 9" (with a commensurate stride length) something is wrong
The measurement of 1000 paces is done with only one foot, so only every other step is counted. In addition a roman mile is slighly less than a modern imperial mile.
1000 Roman paces, assuming the average marching stride, 12 to 30 inches/30 to 86 centimeters, would come to around 300 yards to 832 yards/ 297 meters to 762 meters, making it far short of a modern mile.

oversimplified??

There is nothing silly about the metric system. Very serious
I love the thought of being jailed by lecals, because you try to mesure the length of France.
Wait for americans to flock in tell everybody that measuring length in football stadiums is superiors form of calculating distance.
But it is
🇺🇲
It’s called freedom units

UK even has a pre imperial measurement, the stone. 1 stone = 14 lb = 6.35029 kg.
Great video, deserves all the likes

How it is possible for Italy or Germany to adopt the decimal metrical system in 1814 if they were born as countries in the 1860”s?
These metre rulers were subject to wear and tear...(not ware and tare!😊)
