    Part 1: • Bizarre on Growing Up ...
    --------
    In this clip, Bizarre from D12 talks about the impact of Eminem's debut album, "The Slim Shady LP." The Detroit native recounts the surreal feeling of watching his childhood friend blow up and being an integral part of it. He also talks about the promise that the members of D12 made to one another when they were all independent artists, which stipulated that whoever got signed first would come back for the others to ensure they achieved notoriety as well. Lastly, Bizarre shares some details about why the rap group named their first studio album together, "Devil's Night."

I never hear nobody say he isn't good they just say he's overrated cause its some cold ass black rappers out there from 80s & 90s who spit fire just as good as him but he sold double as many albums as them. I've been to plenty cookouts, block parties clubs all over the south I never heard no one play Eminem so black people just cant understand where the album sales come from.

    • @cnsmooth
      @cnsmooth 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Cant hate him for it, but at the same time it was a wise decision to get them, because back then (and probably even now), everyone wanted to hear more from a new rapper and that was bringing more people from his neighbourhood to showcase the world they are from and "flesh" out what they were about. Also as a white rapper, bringing in a bunch of black rappers could only cement him as a authentic hip hop artists and not just a gimmick like Vanilla Ice or Slim Jesus was.
      Im not saying Em was thinking that deep about it, but I'm sure it made sense to im as well, outside of showing loyalty.
      Edit: Oh and also, Eminem has never come across as someone who really cares about being a major star and being as rich and famous as he could possibly be. He said he wanted to make a living and feed his daughter, so whilst other people might see it as a big thing he probably didnt think it was that much of a deal.

Take ur bike and put it on ur roof. Little stuff like that. But of course. It just got worse and worse. But that’s how “moving night” came about. At least that’s what I was told as a kid. Detroit ran the rap game? Lol what was Detroit producing besides em? Chronic 2001 sold over 7 million during the 00”, then you have Outkaat with the best-selling rap album of all-time up to that point, southern rap like Ludacris and TI, snoop Dogg had his biggest single “drop it like it’s hot”. Detroit was a very small part of rap and not as big as LA or New York.

      @Gcssdvnkloiutesc in the mid 2000s nobody was producing more numbers than Shady records and that's just facts. I'm a huge T.I fan, more so than the Shady Camp, but I ain't delusional. Shady records dropped The Eminem Show, Devils Night (D12), Cheers (Obie Trice), Loyal To The Game (2 Pac), Get Rich or Die Trying (50 Cent), the Re Up, Encore, Second Rounds On Me (Obie Trice), Beg For Mercy (G-Unit), D12 World.....probably missing a record or 2 but still. Show me a label that produced that many albums and numbers within a 6 year span. It's never been done.

      @@dunduddy Interscope? Columbia? Capital? Pretty much all of them bro. Shady records was a relatively small label. I can’t keep track of who’s on who but basically 90% of the best selling albums are on four labels and all those labels had more hits than shady records. Think Confessions by Usher, Love Below/Soeakerbox by Outkast, Britney Spears, Nelly, Lincoln Park, all these albums were bigger than the albums you mentioned , with possible exceptions of 50 cent and Eminem but even then, Lincoln park sold more than 50 cent, Britney Spears too. Big four: Warner brothers, capital, Columbia, interscope (approximately I may be misremembering or conflating one)
