But after losing a longterm relationship with someone who was very much into self care and beauty, bedtime routine videos like this are very comforting for me as a man. Living with someone for years and watching them get ready for bed is such an intimate thing. This video gives me that exact same cozy energy. The thing about brushing your hair unlocked a memory for me! When I was a kid, my abuelita told me the same thing about brushing one’s hair 100 times! She used to do it to my hair whenever I spent the nights over at her place. I always remember it being so soothing and feeling like it went by too fast haha.
I think historically brushing hair so many times just spread the hair oils down to the ends and made the hair shiny, that's why they said to brush it so much!
random history tidbit!: 100 strokes on each side originates from the days of yore before plumbing, back when brushing/combing every day was the second line of defense against dirty hair (the first being protective styling like braids + head coverings such as wimples and veils). combs especially were VERY fine, and in addition to spreading the oils from your scalp throughout your hair, it dislodged dandruff and other solids. so 100 brush strokes was the daily "washing" routine, and every month or so you'd wash with water and maybe soap, to get rid of excess buildup! cosplayer with synthetic wigs here!! next time you struggle with detangling a wig, might i suggest a rat tail comb instead of the tangle teezer? i find it easier to pick the bad knots apart with the tail end, the tangle brush usually gets my wigs all frizzy... additionally, you can give your wig a slight sprizz with silicone spray to keep them from tangling too bad! any odorless silicone spray from the store will do ❤ i use it for my super long wigs (sailor moon as an example) and it works WONDERS! They still get tangled but the knots go out so easily, it's a life saver 😭❤️ also, if the wig got all frizzy and rough, you can try giving it a steam with a steamer or iron to straighten them, that also helps ❤
