Funnily enough I had a pair of snowboard boots go all soft and peal apart just like that. They had been in the loft for many years so to be expected I guess. Interesting to see the construction though!
The loft is one of the worst places to store things really. Extreme hot and cold. I'm sure it's been the death place of many retro computers too sadly.
I've got a pear just like that. One time I nearly hit someone in the Face with my Toe Cap. There was a huge Rip along the Top due to wear and tear over the Years. You could actually pop the Cap out at anytime, but cut a long story short, I was trying to kick a Leaf on the Floor and the Tip of my Boot hit the Floor first which bent the Boot and sent the Cap flying through the air and missing someone's face by a few inches. I threw them away after that.
Sounds like that was a close call! When I was a kid I kicked one of my shoes off by kicking up at something and my shoe ended up on the house roof :-D Then ensued the panic and fishing attempts to get if off the roof before I had to explain it. Managed to get it down somehow.
This literally was a tear down!
Yes :-)

I'm glad there's no such thing as Smell-o-Vision
Well, I did say they were knackered old boots, not smell old boots. So you should be safe either way 🙂

Had a pair of Nike Airs go like that once. Never went to the gym again lol
