If you ever took a hot bath in a DEEP porcelain (cast iron) claw foot tub, it's an experience that you will never forget. The porcelain is so smooth to your skin, the cast ion retains the heat. I was in my teens the 1st and last time that I experienced it. And ever since then I've wanted a big and deep porcelain cast iron claw foot tub to soak in.
I have lived in a number of older homes that had many of these features; including the sleeping porch in an Italianate style Victorian Era home. I used to dream of growing up and coming back to purchase that home. It had a beautiful veranda (wrap around porch) and I loved sitting on it and playing I the Summer. I cried the day I saw they had torn it down. The owner had neglected to keep the house treated against termites; so it was falling apart. It was a real shame.
I live in an old but utterly nice building in Mexico City. My kitchen has green tiles, and the bathroom is covered with pink tiles and have soapdish inserts. As far as I know the building was built in the lates 60s. The kitchen furniture was the original one but I had to throw it out because it was badly shaped.

A lot of these items are still a part of my current home. I never considered that they were no longer “en vogue”….

We had cast iron radiators in every room of my childhood home.
