@@xampleloginname Some GW stores used to do this with the deathstrike missile when it was infinite range, idk if it still is, but they'd ring up other stores in town and drop a deathstrike missiles on the nearest 40k table.
nic buzas bit late to the party, I know, but that did happen to me. I was in Richmond, Sydney, playing a game. The phone rings, and it was the store in Parramatta in inner western Sydney: “Have you guys got a game going? One of us wants to drop a Deathstrike on it.” I was all for it because I’m a strictly Imperial Guard player myself. Anyway they drop it in the centre of the board and we stay on the phone with them until it was resolved. Didn’t hit anything, like they usually don’t haha but it was pretty damned funny.
love this imp guard content!! Best thing is that it is concise and well set out. I've spent far too long watching some othert channels only to hear wandering rants!
Cheers! Yeah, I've been trying to keep it focused, mainly as I get bored easily myself when people take an hour to say what could be said in 10-20 mins :D
Spot on tactics. I always take three with the formation. The Basilisk is easily my favourite looking tank. I love the addition of the crew member in the kit as well...although annoyed that the Basilisk still only comes with the Heavy Flamer as a hull option. I had to take Heavy Bolters from other Chimera chassis tanks when I put them together. Luckily I had the spare parts...who'd take a Heavy Flamer?!
In all honestly I’d change “consider” to “Must” hide behind LOS, I go to extreme pains to ensure my arty is hidden because they are major targets for the opponent that are fairly easy to knock out and pretty point heavy all things considered. This does two things, naturally keeps my boys safe and forces my opponent to devote units into maneuvering to eventually getting in range to LOS of said arty which of courses dictates where their going and thus where I can lead them into other fields of fire OR weather my barrage the whole game taking the wounds and hoping I don’t roll high enough to cripple or kill their key non characters units.
I guess it might be a bit list dependent. In general my basilisks aren't shot first due to scary tank commanders and demolishers who deal more damage being about. It's certainly a great option to have though and in some match ups will be key no doubt :)
@@auspextactics Oh I agree and I apologize if I came across rude but I tend to run a mix of Cad/Tall regiments with the C being the gunline protecting the arty (Bas/Mant/Morter) combo while the Tall tanks and troops move around, a one two punch if you will, either try to dig out the line or deal with the move shoot move tanks and ambushing troops. either way I'm shelling important positions/units with the arty all the while.

Good work, keep it up! You have a calm and clear voice. Your vidz are nicely structured, easy understandable and nicely underlined with your written PowerPoint sheets. Thumbs-up!! Greetings from Switzerland :)
I've noticed that while they benefit from overlapping fields of fire they are also really consistent for triggering overlapping fields of fire. One basilisk can pretty reliably deal an unsaved wound to just about any target. I usually suggest starting with one to trigger overlapping fields, then when the rest of your units shoot circle back around to your remaining basilisks last to selectively chip off the final wounds of limping vehicles/heavy infantry.
Lluís Cavalcanti Calvo not as ridiculous as you may think. Modern artillery pieces can drop elevation low enough to direct fire if the firebase was being overrun. It just almost never happens, but it’s technically possible. Kill radius for an artillery shell is like 50-80 meters. So you could technically shoot it at stuff pretty much right in front of you. It would suck though and if ur short, ur fucked.
Only have two of these in my army so far and pretty much everyone hates when their softer armour/transports suddenly disappear under a volley of shells
Since so many characters give basilisks re rolls wouldn't catchan be more optimal since the re rolls from being cadian could be made redundant? Or does overlapping fire from the cadians still make cadians more worth it? I have a straight guard artillery army that I want to get more basilisks for so any insight would be greatly appreciated! Also great video as usual!
I run pure catachans and I can confirm that basilisks always perform with catachans! 2d6, reroll the lowest means that your average number of shots is 4+. I always keep Harker nearby so they are rerolling ones however with the strats vengeance for cadia and orbital spotter you may not even need Harker to get rerolls. I run two and among my gaming group they are among the most hated of all vehicles as they can hurt anything in the game and I have enough screening to ensure that they rarely take much damage in return
I use 3 of them as cadian with the Ariel spotters strategem to get overlapping fields of fire if you want any nasty target like a knight gone then the rest of your army can finish it off. Missle launcher spam is seriously good these days with the take aim order to support the lovely basilisks :)
Shame the loss of templates turned it into an armor cracker rather than the infantry muncher it was. Especially with over lapping fields of fire. D6 even with the ability with 4+ BS doesn’t threaten blobs as much as it used to.
I'm planning to add three to my Deathguard to supplement the Plagueburst Crawlers at some point. The Crawlers having short range lascannon equivalents and more survivability makes them more of a front line option despite the indirect fire on the main gun, having some heavier but squishier artillery further back fits nicely with the trencher vibe the army has. I picture generally building around a Death Guard battalion as the core of the army, a cheap Daemon battalion with infiltrating Nurglings to sit on objectives in the early turns and a couple of cheaper than Marine fighty HQs, grants extra CPs and opens up extra strategems, and usually a spearhead of Renegades and Heretics for the big guns. If I was wanting to go massed low quality infantry rather than relying on tougher Plague Marines and Blightlords I'd consider a bigger R&H detachment. At one point I was keen to make up some mortar teams firing diseased heads and mixing in some Skaven mortar models but the recent points hike makes them beyond what I'm willing to go to for fluffiness on a BS5+ unit, something to look at again if Renegade Guard ever get a full release. Biggest drawback when comparing renegade versions to loyalist equivalents is that as things stand they lack all the synergies and buffs that Imperial versions get access to while clocking in at the same points. Again this is hopefully something that a full Codex will fix at some point, in the meanwhile at least the FW Index keeps a good selection of extra units available without breaking an army wide CHAOS allegiance.
Most "friendly" players will let you do something like "this basilisk is an Armageddon Pattern" without much fuss. Is the Armageddon Pattern better, point/usefulness wise? I'm not about to pay basically double the cost to actually buy the actual Armageddon variant, and even if I had the money to burn I like the Space Marine Basilisk much better.
Throwing you a like but I don't have the time to watch the whole vid. I'd imagine it breaks down to how much arty do you wanna bring/ how dense the terrain is ( hiding from los) I love running my 3 cannons they seriously bring the pain and soften up targets for my advancing troops, plus they add a serious consideration for my opponent to contend with.
Tallarns drift in Basillisks, blasting Eurobeat and Heretics
YAAAAWHOOO
The first model that got me into 40K over twenty years ago was the Sentinel.
The model that made me sure I wanted to stay was the Basilisk.
Emperor protect the brave soldiers whom sacrifice their hearing to rain death upon thine enemies! Shatter their skies!
You can pretty much fire at other people's games with this thing!
In those massive multi-table appocolypse events I hear that is a thing. Cordinated bombardments from across the room.

That's true actually, with reliable shots, high AP and high strength they're likely going to get at least one failed save. good point!
I'm very curious of what you're going to say about the Baneblade and its variants 👌
Coming up shortly :D Baneblade tomorrow, variants in a week or so...

Fielding 10 is not an option, as you can "just" pack 3 groups of 3 due to the rule of, you named it, three.
Ah yeah, cheers for the catch! I guess you can still have more earthshakers with FW options at least :)
So when do you think it to be better to concentrate artillery and when to divide them.
