I just found fantastical a few weeks ago...then I found your info about Morgen...are you still using it? Same set up, basically? What email address does the scheduling link go to the other person from? Your gmail or a random morgen email address?
@@facultysuccesscoach I am still using Morgen. Been a couple years now. When a meeting is scheduled I can choose which calendar the event goes to. It can be any calendar on any account added.
Your insights are always spot on! I'm curious, do you have any recommendations for extensions that help with productivity? I've been using a new one called Astirna New Tab, and I think it complements task management really well.
The due date is when the task needs to be done like a deadline. Schedule dates are when I want to actually do them which could be various times (multiple sessions). EG: A video is Due on Friday, but I am scheduled to do it on Tuesday...
I am not Mac so can't comment on that. For me, global hotkey, calendar sets, date hotkeys, drag back in time events. Hide completed tasks ate the features that spring to mind first.
Great content as always! I was just about to start adding todoist to my workflow based on watching you older videos. I guess I now have to check this out😅 sounds better than todoist overall not sure if it is also better when it comes specifically to task management
Danny, great review. 2 questions: Is there a way to see completed tasks? (I'm looking at free plan and don't see anything). Is there a pomodoro timer available? If not, you might suggest it to the team at Morgen. There's a huge Pomodoro crowd out there. Putting a task in the calendar isn't quite the same as having the ability to hit a timer so that I do nothing else until my timer goes off. Thanks for the great review!
Yes it is a setting in the view which I thought I covered 🤷♂️ I hear you about pomodoro but I would prefer for them to focus on mobile app, more hotkeys and appearance options but I can bring it up 😁
@@DannyHatcherTech I think I figured out the issue. I have it setup correctly to show completed tasks. However, it will only show them if I move them to the calendar before checking them off. I had a couple of small tasks that I knocked out while on a Zoom and checked them off from within the task list. They don't show up anywhere and that is problematic as I might need to track those elsewhere (for example, for billing purposes). It would be great if I could access a list of completed tasks from within the task list; similar to Microsoft ToDo
Do you recommend using different calendars or different tags? (is it as easy to filter tags out?) Because they only allow one calendar on the free plan and two on the basic plan
@@DannyHatcherTech Hi Danny - I'm revisiting Morgen for the tasks - I struggled in Obsidian. Your idea of one Google account with multiple calendars works great in Google but Morgen doesn't show any of them. Is it now unavailable in Morgen free do you know?
@@DannyHatcherTech Thanks Danny - I doubted you as I had been frantically clicking Refresh for 2 days. I didn't notice the Reconnect button - that did the trick. Excellent.
Hey Danny, I am looking for a calendar setup which completely free and synced with obsidian as well. So that whatever I set in the calendar will automatically synced with the daily note inside obsidian. Do you know anything like this?
To my knowledge Obsidian doesn't have an API that works well like that. You could use an in a page to render calendars or tasks. I am not sure what you would want the sync for? It is less clicks to use Morgen (free) than if I was in Obsidian.
I'm facing a problem with Obsidian, Can you help me? I make a new note, write something in it, and then close obsidian. Now when I open obsidian & come back to the same note, it's completely empty, all text wiped out just like a new note. I am able to easily recover the contents from obsidian's inbuilt file recovery system. The latest snapshot is empty & the snapshot before that I can copy & paste back. I have a lot of notes, it has only happened 3 times to me.
That sounds like a potential sync issues. If you use obsidian sync and sync an empty file it can remove a not yet synced file (with data on). Or could be a bug, so might be worth talking to licat or silver on discord.
@@DannyHatcherTech I don't use Obsidian sync, although I have OneDrive sync... Could this be the issue? What steps should I take to solve this problem.
@@DannyHatcherTech Can you try it in yours? Here is how you recreate it. First Open a new note. Type a random word wait for few seconds. Now on another line quickly type something & close obsidian instantly. Then open obsidian again, the note becomes empty.
@@lynxproductive7360 using one drive sync your files would be stored in the drive instead of a waiting sync list. So if you close the note to quickly the cloud won't ha e time to sync it and by closing the app it will load the most recent save file. For Obsidian sync each change is saved to their cloud and is pushed each time the app is opened. My guess is the cloud service your using is not saving the quickly enough. Instead of closing the app, see if minimising it does the same thing 🤷♂️

This is also a little out of date, as the updates are coming out thick and fast right now.
😳😳thanks buddy !! finally found a calendar that includes todoist features and many more
Morgen has been my go to for a while now, and with the development of the mobile app, I don't see me changing anytime soon.
Do you use the due date of a task too or in most cases you only schedule the task (btw. what is the difference?)

Schedule dates are when I want to actually do them which could be various times (multiple sessions).
EG: A video is Due on Friday, but I am scheduled to do it on Tuesday...

Hi Danny / everyone,
I have seen that it is possible that task disappear from the calender as soon as they are marked as done. How do I set this up?
Change the setting to only show uncomplete tasks.
Tried Morgen twice but fail to see how it's better than standard Google Calendar + Google Tasks sidebar. The app is also very slow on macos

I was a very basic user of todoist because I want simple.
Morgen does everything I needed todoist for but with Morgen I get the calendar benefits.
hi, if i add a scheduled task in todoist why i dont see it automatically in the calendar but only in the list?
third part tasks are treated differently to native morgen tasks.
