Definitely can use rechargeable batteries, but the cost is quite a bit. 8 batteries in my pack, but they last quite long. Make sure you carry an extra set. Works well down to 1 bar on battery life
I actually use my Garrett Ace 250 more often, probably because of its light weight. I’m also more use to it and you only use 4 batteries compared to the Whites 8 batteries. I’ve gotten my better finds with the Garrett. More trashy areas, I would use the Whites unless you don’t mind digging everything.
@@thisthatwithlovie9314With no distespect the Ace 250 isn't in the same league as the Whites XLT. The discrimination on the XLT is amazingly accurate and there's no comparison when it comes to the depth. I have an ACE 250 I got for the kids and I have Whites DFX it's the XLT upgraded with multi frequency and other functions added. It's from 2001 and I still use it today and it gives modern machines a run for their money. Just take time and learn how to set it. The Ace is OK for surface coins but it digs too much trash and it's not nearly as powerful. Turn on tone ID and you'll hear the targets without looking at the screen it actually has 95 tones so the higher the pitch the higher the number. Using the tone ID you can actually hear the nickels from gold or aluminum with VDI numbers that are close if you learn the sounds. And you can tell the difference in pitch from a dime or silver dime the silver sings on the XLT. It's in the Audio settings also turn on the V.C.O and it will pinpoint even faster with a zipping sound. It's a really good detector. It weighs a little more but she's built as strong as a tank. You can even get a rechargeable battery pack for the XLT. Good luck hunting out there I didn't mean to knock the ACE 250 I'm just experienced with using Whites detectors since 1979 so I've come to learn how to set them up. The XLT can go surprisingly deep if you put in some practice with it
