One of the last few popular aftermarket games in some regions; probably more so than in Japan and the US. It's also one of my favourite beat 'em ups on the system (IIRC Battletoads/Double Dragon also released around that time, and it's in my top 3 too). Just so much fun going through those stages. Just seeing it in motion makes me want to replay it again.

I still had a NES at the time, and this was a really great game to add to the system. I'm actually surprised it even got a US release, looking back on it, but I am glad it did. We had to wait so much longer for a Super Nintendo, and these smaller, simpler ports of 16-bit games were actually pretty great. Mighty Final Fight is, to me, an elegantly simplified version of Final Fight. It also looks VERY pretty. The 8-bit sprite work is far more appealing to me because I just happen to like the cuter graphics more. These days if I wanted to get it for the NES, the price is stupidly high, but the Famicom version is more affordable (though also a tad expensive.)
This is only a 2 megabit game, but it feels like it's so much bigger with all the character sprites and animations and cutscenes packed in. It feels at least like a 3 megabit game, but Capcom must've gotten really good at compression here.

I think we'll have reached August by next Wednesday. There's fewer than 30 games left, after all.

I'm pretty sure by this point our family had the SNES and Final Fight was one of the first games we got for it. So never did get around to the NES incarnation with Mighty Final Fight. Played a little bit via a ROM of course, but never did sit down with it long enough to finish it. Sounds like it wouldn't have been too bad to try for it, though once you got the tech down!

Great game, one of the best Capcom offerings on the system. Yeah, maybe it's not as fun as TMNT and Kunio-kun (and the "Battletoads & Double Dragon" game) beat 'em ups but still very solid 😊

It’s interesting to see a demake on this. Was there any demakes before this point from significantly more powerful hardware that’s not just arcade ports?

Ninja Gaiden, Double Dragon, and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out are all reimaginings posing as ports.
Earliest example I can think of, was Adventure on 2600. There was like no way they could squeeze a university main frame text adventure into 2kb and 128bytes of RAM.

Not sure if you're trolling, but her name is very well established as Jessica.

2:13 The girlfriend's name is Jessica actually. I have played the English version before so that is her name =)

IIRC her name was also in the attract sequence for the arcade version (though I haven't played that one since the '90s!). RndStranger clearly wasn't a Final Fight afficiando! 😆

Even though I love beat em ups for some reason this version of the game just never gelled with me. It's not even so much due to the limitations of the NES because there's others I enjoy like Manhattan Project or Kunio Kun but this one is so bare bones that I lose interest after the 1st and 2nd rounds. The best part for me is the music and my favorite songs are the Round 1 and especially Round 3. Btw Jessica is the name of Haggar's daughter and Cody's gf lol 😄

This is a good game, but pirate multicarts and plug n play tat have ruined this one for my by using that one song on (I think) literally other chance they get to the point that I'm sick of the soundtrack at this point 😓

A very important factor about beat’em up was to have fun with friends kicking the hell out of others, but sadly this one was only 1player. Nice sprites but it feels like one step forward two steps back. I still prefer the Kunio games, double dragon and tmnt over this one, but MFF is still a good game.
To close the beatemup chapter on the famicom, it would have been a perfect match if it was 2player game.

Cody's girfriend is called Jessica. I'm not sure If that's mentioned directly but it's refererenced in one of the pre-boss fight dialogues. The boss asks you if Haggar's daughter is named "Jussica", which of course it isn't.
