Beyoncé is depicting the African Goddess "Oshun" in this video (the yellow dress). Oshun was known for having pleasure in getting revenge and that is shown thru the playfulness of the music/instrumentals yet aggressive lyrics and the way Beyoncé is smiling and seems to enjoy "leaving a path of destruction". This entire album has so many layers and hidden "tid-bits", it's quite interesting and in order to fully understand it, you'd have to see it from beginning to end.

Lemonade is basically her going through the stages of grief and then ultimately reaching acceptance. Think people want you to react to the entire album bc she crosses so many genres and the mv intros are just beautiful.

I wish we'd have known that before we started out of order. Probably get people mad now if we went backwards and even more out of order. The first recommendation off of this Lemonade album came from someone on our Megan Thee Stallion / Beyonce reaction. Have no idea why they suggested it out of sequence. Now, we're stuck.
      Thank you for watching us!

      Yo, Sporto...
If only people would submit such, and certain, requests more relevantly.
      However...
I believe it'd be fine if you and Bowser do one song a week from the album. I'm not familiar with the album so I don't know how many songs there are, but as for album reaction requests I believe this would be the best way to do it. When you get to this song on the album, maybe you and Bowser could do a simple 'conversation' video as a reaction to the song. You and Bowser could mention whether you have any change to what you previously said. Then in the description of the video, Bowser can include the link to the actual reaction video, and mention it's in the description on the video, so people can easily watch it again or if they haven't yet.

We have seen a lot of men (women too) in power, who have families and good spouses, but are so big headed, blinded by the lifestyle, and have money and fame hungry people throwing themselves at them all the time, they have affairs and entanglements all the time. Since the beginning of time it has happened. People who have so much always tend to give into a greed to have more. It must be a pattern in human psychology of people who just lose humbleness. Only think of how they feel, not how they affect those around them.

The yellow clothes she's wearing is a homage to "Oxum/Oshun", the goddes of the river, of the emotions, in African cultures. This godness is also known for the jealously and for the revenge.
The whole album is about a very painful momento to Beyoncé, but it's also a moment where she recover herself and her blackness. It is a masterpiece.

One thing I love in this album's every video is the connection its art makes with Orixás (african entities from the yoruba mitology, found in the african based religions Umbanda and Candomblé). In this one we see Yemanjá and Oxum. In the beginning of this video in particular, Beyonce's in calming, blue waters, listing everything she's done to calm herself down and try to heal and save her marriage. She turned to herself in order to find a light in the darkness she was living in. It's really a denial moment, a "this too shall pass"/"you'll be okay" moment. There's a scene when Beyonce's watching herself sleep. In this part she can be seen as Yemanjá, who's represented by the color blue, she's queen of the salt waters and the sea. Yemanjá is a loving, serene mother who washes our pain away. Once Beyonce's out of this hibernation wearing the yellow dress, she's ready to fight, ready to confront whatever and whoever is in her way because she's done denying the fact she got cheated on. Here she's Oxum, queen of the sweet waters and the rivers (seen in the waters running with her when she opens the door), who really takes care of herself and is represented by the color yellow. Just like Yemanjá, she's a loving mother but she's also a jealous wife who doesn't accept being betrayed in her feelings. The duplicity in the video can represent these two Orixás so perfectly...

The Intro you see in the music video is part of a poem by the author Warsan Shire.

I was as surprised as you that she sampled Led Zeppelin, and to choose that song to express her discontent with her husband was fire. I love all music. My very first concert was Rolling Stones , my mom took me I was 9. Best day ever. I think Beyoncé is telling her husband that the side chick wouldn’t want him if he was an average guy. People have literally written dissertations on it, there is so much depth and meaning behind it. Not to mention Beyoncé is a notoriously private celebrity so this album and her honesty was a massive deal. Even if you don't review the entire album/film, you should definitely watch it because it is a masterpiece.

If you want to understand how they worked through the infidelity issues. You have to watch, not just listen to, but WATCH because it's a visual album. Meaning that she made a film for her album and each song has a video to accompany it. Watch Lemonade, to get the full picture of the journey she went on emotionally, to process the infidelity and how she reached the final decision that she did in deciding to stay with him.

Both Jay Z and Bey made albums about the infidelity. Jay's album is "4:44". Their most recent album together is called "Everything Is Love" underneath the name "The Carters". The album is about how they rose above their marital issues and are stronger.

To better understand LEMONADE, they would have to go song by song in order. The videos are not all uploaded on TH-cam, but they are found on other platforms. Incidentally, there are videos that shorten the song as is the case of "All night". I think it would be nice if I reacted to the video and then to the audio that is complete.

The Lemonade visual album is about her going through the 7 stages of grief dealing with what her husband's infidelity did to her. It's a visual journey through it, which is why you saw "Denial " flash on the screen. I believe this is the second stage because this is the second video of that video album. She says poetry in between the videos to carry the mood on to the next song so you get what stage she's in. Hopefully that helped, since you're going in random order, but I think the snippet of poetry before the song really helps you stay on track anyways.
She discussed with her husband that she wanted to make this album. Of course this is after they worked on their marriage. He helped with some of the production, I believe. The Lemonade album was her story. His album "4:44" is the name of his album where he talks about the situation, things happening in the black community and other things. The next album was both of them. It is respectfully called "The Carters" sing this is their album together as husband and wife. It's called "Everything is Love". They go on a journey telling about how they first met, dated, feelings about it. They talk about friends and family that hold them down and have been there for them. They talk about achievements made and that need to be made for the black community. They talk about their love and how it's stronger than ever. They came out the other side and now everything is love.
Beyonce has been getting into her African ancestry habits and religion. She is learning and teaching the diaspora at the same time. The dress color she is wearing is symbolic of an African Goddess named Oshun. She is the Goddess of fertility, love and etc. She can go off if she thinks she's being played with. She's the type that would laugh and smile in your face while giving you just desserts, which is why Beyonce is delivering a menacing message with a happy carefree spirit. The Goddess' color is gold yellow. Beyonce is channeling her here.

Yessss this was one of my favourites off the album, but almost all the songs grew on me after a few listens. Hope you guys react to some more of her work! I feel like it gets overshadowed sometimes by her huge public image and a lot of people seem to judge her off of her more popular singles rather than her albums. She’s got a lot of hidden gems that the general public just doesn’t know about. Anyways, loved the vid as always!

Fellas, it would be great to do her tribute to Stevie Wonder. It has a performance with Gary Clarke Jr so it may expose you to a newer artist and the dude is a beast on the bass guitar so you might love him.
Plus you're more likely to know the words to those songs.
Sidenote this is just for me personally cause you guys are self professed metal heads (and I know I'm not using the right terminology lol) but have you heard of Tremonti, Alter Bridge and Slash and the Conspirators? Or that less metal and more hard rock?

I have an advice. For any song you do from lemonade - you should check out the corresponding episode on the highly acclaimed podcast "Dissect"
It'll make a lot of sense.
Also yes. The album is about how they worked it out. It follows the classical stages of grief (this was the denial chapter). But the album follows multiple arcs. Including society "cheating" black women. The album is lemonade (from lemons) - its about generational healing for black women -

The album is basically tells the story of her revelation that JayZ was cheating....but it's so much deeper. It was therapeutic for her and so many who've dealt with infidelity. The coolest thing is that JayZ actually released a critically acclaimed RESPONSE ALBUM titled "4:44" which basically took accountability for his cheating. I think his song "4:44" would give you more answers than another Beyonce song right now. His direct approach is more insightful and the as he makes major confessions. Please react to his "4:44" track by JayZ He is considered a top 5 rapper of all time by most authentic OG hip hop heads. At 50 he's still rapping....he's a business mogul with top shelf liquor lines, he was co-owner of both Rocawear apparel line and Rocafella Records since the 1990s. He introduced TIDAL an alternative streaming service where artists are fairly compensated for their work....many artist have since left the service. But he's found alot of success with Rocnation his management firm that has signed major artists and celebrity athletes. He was hired by NFL commissioner as a diversity development liason following the Kaepernick's knee protests that resulted in scandal. His hiring was after he'd turned down Super bowl halftime performance and advise other AA entertainers to turn it down also. He's complicated....hated by some loved by others. He recently became a Black Billionaire according Forbes magazine. Beyonce is extremely successful her net worth is almost $500 million...she is rguably the most popular artist in music Industry. AFTER THEY EACH RELEASED SOLO PROJECTS. THEY GAVE US a joint reconciliation album "The Carters" so they are very much still married.

i don't think she's "in the 70s" like maybe the late 90s if we're going to the past at all, but like that's legit just an urban black neighbourhood and could be seen as a modern one especially since the video was released in 2017. it's where i grew up and where my cousins live like it really just be like that with people living their life and chilling and having fun (the kids running to play under a broken fire hydrant with their water guns and the guy riding around on a four wheeler) and there are areas in the us (idk where you guys are) where the original architecture is still standing and the style of homes and businesses are like that where the buildings look like those built in the 70s/80s/90s simply because the buildings are still standing and the architecture survived (what comes to my immediate mind is new orleans, houston, some parts of dallas; places like that)

Hey! I'm enjoying the hell outta watching you two watch her genius, sexy "badassery." Now, WATCH THE LEMONADE VISUAL ALBUM. :) In its entirety. (At least after you get through your reactions to her Lemonade youtube cuts.) There's lots of missing bits if you're just watching the youtube stuff. And perhaps you'll discover a dual intent hidden within the whole "Jay-Z cheats on Beyonce" line of thought. But anyhow, the dialogue and just everything throughout the visual album is beautifully captured. Very moving. And then fucking Formation at the end. Rawr!! Love how soft the flow is just before she whips it at the very end. Alright lastly, couple of my favorite moments of dialogue in the visual album - "I DON'T KNOW WHEN LOVE BECAME ELUSIVE. WHAT I KNOW IS, NO ONE I KNOW HAS IT." And especially, "YOUR MOTHER IS A WOMAN. AND WOMEN LIKE HER CANNOT BE CONTAINED." Cheers to all - Em
