Mr. Frost, thank you for posting soooooo many wonderfully concise reviews on all these lenses. I just wanted to let you know that as soon as I see ANY lens I'm interested in (which is often as I love glass haha), I pop the name into the search box specifically looking for your review before I go ANY further on the idea of it at all. Thank you for the excellent work. Even the legacy reviews are extremely helpful. (especially in the age of adapted lenses)
I‘ve got that lens on my 5Dc/5D MK 2 combo, and I really love it! The image quality is spot on perfect, and the weight is alright. I‘m also using a 50mm 0.95 lens for portraits, and I HATE to carry it around cause it‘s super heavy, I think the sigma art is perfectly fine when it comes to weight and size. Btw, I never stop down those kinda lenses, it just fits my style of work
dunno if you guys gives a damn but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all the new movies on instaflixxer. Been watching with my gf these days :)
which one should i choose for wedding photography this 20mm or the sigma 24mm art, which is more versatile? i want to combine it with sigma 35mm f1.4 art and 85mm..or should i choose nikon 16-35mm instead of 20mm or 24mm?
I scooped up this lens yesterday afternoon with a blackmagic 4k.. NOW I see why this lens is such a beast mode with the price. Just the reflection of the glass you can tell it's pure quality compared to even some decent glass.
Well, after watching dozens of your videos and some multiple times, I'm leaning towards the 24mm for my wide angle lens. It seems the most practical rather than an ultra wide for my purposes. I almost pulled the pin on the 15mm Blackstone but the 95mm filters are insanely expensive and I likely wouldn't get the regular use out of it. I'm not sure I'd spend the money on this one though, it's a bit pricy! That leaves the Canon cheap and cheerful version, though still nit that cheap, or the chip-less manual focus Rokinon 24mm 1.4 for about the same money. Tough decision!
Nice, solid video. Concise information and good structure. Well done! I have just bought the Nikkor 24 f1.8G for my D500 at a slightly lower price, but I might just as well have gotten the Sigma.
Great review, those Sigma ART lenses look really slick and seem to perform very well. I was wondering if you could do a review of the Samyang 10mm f/2.8? It seems like a good fast ultra-wide angle lens but I would like to hear your opinion after a test :)
What about autofocus on these lens (Sigma Art in general)? I really want this lens but I'm afraid the AF will be inconsistent on my 7D2. I see many people complain. Because what good is the sharpness for, when it can't focus properly and 8 of 10 photos are not tack sharp.
Hi Chris, nice review. quick question for you... do you think this would be a good lens for landscape, street and astro photography? I'm looking for something that hopefully works with all of them although i understand it probably isn't that simple.
Vignetting - Why would that be a problem? As soon as I load the images into Lightroom and apply the lens profile, all vignetting is gone. Same goes for barrel distortion.
Another great review Chris, I thought for sure you would have way more views on this video already. People have been dying for a review of this lens. BTW, what happened to you 70D?
Hi Chris! I really enjoy your lens reviews very much - thank you for doing this! I am on the lookout for a fast telephoto and good wideangle (below 24 mm) mainly for astrophotography uses with my Canon 6D. And I was wondering if you had the chance to test the 14 mm Samyang (Walimex) f2.8. I am considering it good value for money - but I am bit worried about distortion levels - so I would be very interested in your opinion.
Question! How would a 24mm image compare with that of a ~14mm lens on a crop sensor (so about 22mm)? I'd like to go pretty wide on my 80d for night sky photography but not so wide that it looks too unnatural for more everyday use stills/video. Does the smaller sensor crop out most of the "stretchiness" on the edges of an ultra wide? Trying do decide if I should go for a wide lens with less of a crop (like sigma's f1.8 zoom, don't want to spend a lot though) or an ultrawide like a ef 14mm with the crop factor?
I'm back from my 2 week trip to Japan. I have to say, the 24 Art is very good indeed. Sharp and low CA (I shot mostly at f/4-f/8). I use it on a Canon 6D. It's wonderful for shooting temples up close or the huge temples at Nara. I purchased a CP for it while there. I can't really comment on the AF performance too much as the 6D has a mediocre focusing system. I didn't have any issues shooting buildings. I am very happy with it and can't wait until the 85 comes out. I want to compare it to the Tamron.
Hi Chris , is this lens okay on a Canon 70d (aps-c) for milky way shots here in rural Australia with exposures less than 30 seconds without the use of an equatorial mount....... cheers keep up the great work
All Canon mount lenses made since 1987 will work on your Canon APS-C digital SLR camera, except EF-M lenses. Although for that kind of photography the Sigma 20mm f/1.4 would be much better
You must have gotten really great copy, because from what I saw this lens has CA like crazy. For 24mm 1.4 the focus speed is really good, but focus accuracy is terrible. When I tried it, most of my shots were miss focused. As always, nice review.
Which one you suggest between canon ef24mm f.14 ii and this sigma 24mm? Since sigma doesnot have weather shield compare to ef24mm. Till what temperature in cold we can shoot whiout weather shield?
The Canon will be a little sharper, I think, but more expensive. Take a look at Sigma's website, or ask them, for details that precise, I'm sure they can help you.
Have definitely been wanting to get a nice full-frame wide angle for my Sony A7ii for a long while. Was thinking I'd have to go with the Zeiss 18mm 2.8, but I wanted something faster. I saw Sigma came out with a 14mm 1.8 for E-Mount, which looked really enticing, but the $1600 price tag was pretty off-putting for me. I think this 24mm 1.4 would be perfect.
Eagerly waiting mine for the Z6 system!!! Got it because of the manual focus (other then superior quality) so I can use it on my Rhino ARCII Slider Focus... the Nikon Z lens have “wired focus” so you cannot - predictably - set focus points (plus Z lenses focus breath) Use the Nikon Z 85mm f1.8 because I want autofocus for Rhino Follow shots where the actor headshot are moving about a bit! But pulling focus in studio needs manual focus lenses!
Hi Chris, I have got Canon eos m3 cam. is it possible to use this lens(canon mount) using the ef-m adapter with my cam?? just wondering. Thank you for all your videos :)
+ka5hiori Depends what style of photography you like, but really, the flexibility of having a zoom range of 18-35mm means that that would be a far more versatile choice
I am looking at the sigma 24. 30 or 35mm lens for night photography and some videoing for out of focus background.. can you recommend which one is best. Thanks
If you want a more out of focus background then the 35 will be best. Regarding aperture, they're all f/1.4 so they should all be as bright as each other for shooting at night time
hey brother Chris, I'm wanna shoot for portrait or wide angle (planning to do a pre-wedding shoot for my friend as well) which one do you suggest 24mm 1.4 canon or sigma?
I am mainly looking for 24mm with fast aperture but can't decide to get this one or 24-35 f2. Only thing of 24-35 troubling me is the barrel distortion at 24mm. What do you advice
Hi Chris. Could you help me please with good price and quality compromise? I own Canon 80d with kit lens 18-55 3.5/5.6 and 50mm 1.8 also. I need something wider with good aperture.
Hi Chris, would you recommend this lens or the Sigma 35mm f1.4 art lens?? Lenses I have are: Canon 50mm f1.8 (nifty fifty) Samyang 14mm f2.8 Canon 24-70mm f4 Canon 85mm f1.8 And two kit lenses
Hi mate. I know this is an old video. But I saw you are still releasing videos as I subscribe. Can I put this lens on a 90d? Thanks. Ps. You or videos are really good. Especially with the lens noise review.

+Stephen Chung I have the Samyang 24mm but I just bought the Sigma 24mm to replace it, because I find it not sharp enough for my video work (especially focused on infinity, even at high apertures). But it's fairly good for photography. (Sony a7sII user).
Ripinda1911 ok....that's good. so would you say it's as good as the Nikon 24mm f/1.4 G AF-S? (if you have used one) How is the chromatic abberation/vignetting/distortion/sharpness on that one? (if u have used one) I know the BOKEH is AMAZING!!!
Would the Sigma 24mm lens be useable on a Nikon D3100 for landscape photography. I feel the Kit lens is lacking sharpness. I would be pleased to hear any recomendations or suggestions you may offer. Thanks for all your reviwes I have seen quite a few but can't make up my mind. Regards Ken
@@GoodManPictures Did you get the Sigma lens? Does Sigma support DPAF (Dual Pixel Autofocus) and changes to AF Speed and AF Response settings on Canon Cinema EOS?
@@PixelremixRetouch I got it but haven't used it much to assess or share feedback. Currently I am making some short videos in limited time and when I used Sigma 24mm, I was quickly missing face detector feature of STM lens so I shift back. I plan to use 24mm in future for indoor videos but for that I would be using manual focus.
Ok seems like you are having problems with the AF then. But I am wondering why that is the case though DPAF should be working fine. Also I just did some research and in genera face detection is part of the camera not of the lens. STM only affects the speed of focus not the functionality itself. So I am also puzzled why the face detection features is apparently not working with the Sigma lens. Have you done a firmware update and/or visited a camera shop for calibration?
Hey all, I need some help or a tip..I have tested both, the Sigma 18-35mm ART and the 24mm ART and now i can't decide which one I'll take. I love prime lenses but am not sure if the 24mm has enough wide angle for landscape on an APS-C. But I guess the 18-35 will be too heavy for an every time lens, especially on day trips in the mountains...what would you recommend?
For what it's worth I took the 18-35 on vacation and took a single shot with it. It stayed in the bag the rest of the trip. Great lens, but depending on your situation that weight concern shouldn't be dismissed. Now looking at the Art primes.
Man, Sigma is on a roll with all of their new Art glass. I will say though, I wouldn't hesitate to pay $100-200 more per lens to have weather sealing.

Hi,
Kindly review the new canon 50mm f1.8 STM whenever its out...Thanks in advance
Do you recommend this over the RF 24-70 f2.8??
I personally think the flares are gorgeous, for video work at least! thanks for the awesome reviews Chris!
Nice, solid video. Concise information and good structure. Well done! I have just bought the Nikkor 24 f1.8G for my D500 at a slightly lower price, but I might just as well have gotten the Sigma.
Art series = Big and Bulky series but sharp at 2.8 :) 24 seems useless for crop imo. Now they need to make a quality zoom lens.

Very good demo of F stops for full frame........
Hi chris! I would like to ask if is it compatible for 24mm 1.4m dg art sigma lens for a 80d? Or i should buy the dc version? Please i need help

I am looking at the sigma 24. 30 or 35mm lens for night photography and some videoing for out of focus background.. can you recommend which one is best. Thanks

i had it, i sold it to buy tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 and i regret it so bad. i miss it so much. it's give a magical 3d feel to photos. :(
Is this the newest lens that has an fe mount option?
Does the Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM ART fit my Canon Eos 200D without any mount?
Yup
which one do you think is sharper sigma 20 mm / 24 mm 1.4?
*for aps-c camera*
+Shivazi Sadhak Take a look at my review of the 20mm lens. They're both as fantastic on APS-C as each other, really
Samyang 14mm f2.8 or irix 15mm f2.4 on canon 5d iv?
You could check out the Sony GM 24mm f/1.4, if you've got access to one.
Eventually I will, yes
hey brother Chris,
I'm wanna shoot for portrait or wide angle (planning to do a pre-wedding shoot for my friend as well)
which one do you suggest 24mm 1.4 canon or sigma?
Take a look at my review of the Canon 24mm f/1.4 - I compare them at the end
thanks
which is better and sharper? 24 or the 35 1.4? and which would you recommend?
The 35mm is a little sharper. I recommend finding out whether you want a 24mm lens or a 35mm one :-)
i like the 24 but im scared to take it. kinda want to use it as my main lens but then if doing potrait the distortion might be too much to handle :(
pacifist godz if you got a Main lens with primes, then something is wrong. if i can only take 2 lenses for portrait in apsc its my 35 and my 85mm
its normal, when the lens in your country cost 4x the price at yours. haha
I am mainly looking for 24mm with fast aperture but can't decide to get this one or 24-35 f2. Only thing of 24-35 troubling me is the barrel distortion at 24mm. What do you advice
I don't know, really. That's a hard question. Personally I would actually go for the 20mm f/1.4 - I loved that lens!
Unfortunately where I live, there is no option to try at shop or rent a lens so it's a tough decision for me but thanks for your feedback.
Chris could you do some reviews of Canon FD adaptors and/or lenses?
Thanks
Below f/1.8 is hard to have sharp results at the corners with any kind of wide lenses.
Hi Chris. Could you help me please with good price and quality compromise? I own Canon 80d with kit lens 18-55 3.5/5.6 and 50mm 1.8 also. I need something wider with good aperture.
Sigma 30mm f/1.4 ART is quite nice :-)
Christopher Frost Photography And what about sigma 18-35 1.8? I saw your high recommendation for this lens.
That''s great, too :-)
is it as sharp as 50mm sigma art?
Hi Chris, would you recommend this lens or the Sigma 35mm f1.4 art lens??
Lenses I have are:
Canon 50mm f1.8 (nifty fifty)
Samyang 14mm f2.8
Canon 24-70mm f4
Canon 85mm f1.8
And two kit lenses

Tried it today and it is beautiful.
Ripinda1911 i've heard good things about it:
good bokeh
good sharpness
great contrast
BUT
how bad is the vignetting and chromatic abberation?
The chromatic abberation is barely noticeable. There is some vignetting on ff at f1.4, but if you stop it down to f2.8 it is almost gönne.
Ripinda1911 ok....that's good.
so would you say it's as good as the Nikon 24mm f/1.4 G AF-S? (if you have used one)
How is the chromatic abberation/vignetting/distortion/sharpness on that one? (if u have used one) I know the BOKEH is AMAZING!!!
Sorry I am a canon user.
A review on the Tokina 12-24mm f/4 would be nice to stack against the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8! :)
Very good and helpful video
Sigma art 1.4. 24, 30 or 35 mm focal length for gimbal bokeh footage on aps c sensor? Please help 😁
I'd personally go for the 24
Was considering this lens for video, but the flaring and vignetting are really disappointing. Not a fan of the bokeh either... Great review though!
sigma art35mm or 24mm or 50mm for canon 70d? i am so confused please help anyone :(
f1.4
using 50mm in crop is a pain in the ass, 35 is more confort 24 for me is more general photo usable and fun in crop sensors
+maham rafi 24+ 50mm good combo
would you guys prefer this over the 18-35mm art for a d7000? thanks
Rather get the zoom.
Matthew Bishop yeah it seems they have similar performance and and price, only change the 1.4 prime for a 1.8 zoom ;D ill go for zoom
Great lens. I would love to trade my 24-105 for the 18-35
does anyone uses 24mm 1.4 on 6d? is autofocus faster and accurate?
I'd like you to review the sigma 70-200 f2.8 os
What about auto-focus?
hello sir we love your videos .. can you please also review sigma art 24-70mm

+Duc Nguyen If you get the Nikon version, yes
+Christopher Frost Photography thank you so much!
how does the image compare to the Zeiss 25 f2?
Haven't tried it I'm afraid

Ok seems like you are having problems with the AF then. But I am wondering why that is the case though DPAF should be working fine. Also I just did some research and in genera face detection is part of the camera not of the lens. STM only affects the speed of focus not the functionality itself. So I am also puzzled why the face detection features is apparently not working with the Sigma lens. Have you done a firmware update and/or visited a camera shop for calibration?
what do you think of this lens for video?
Would you say this lens is Good for a cmos sensor?
Aren't most DSLR cameras CMOS?
Christopher Frost Photography I think so. So do you think i works with a Canon 600d?
All Canon mount lenses made since 1987 will work on your Canon APS-C digital SLR camera, except EF-M lenses
aight. thank you
Thank you for this.
can use for landscape ?
Any lens can be used for landscape work - it depends what kind of shot you're going for
Great Lense!!
Personally Id stick with the 18-35 for its flexiblity
For what it's worth I took the 18-35 on vacation and took a single shot with it. It stayed in the bag the rest of the trip. Great lens, but depending on your situation that weight concern shouldn't be dismissed. Now looking at the Art primes.
SIGMA 24mm 'ART' or SAMYANG 24mm f/1.4???
depends on if you want manual or autofocus...
FINALLY!!!
Seems to be great lens (y)
