Simplify the lovely background with only sea sky & sand, underexpose by half a stop to retain the beautiful warm sunset colours & blip the pretty girl with a balanced side flash to give a nice 3d effect, & maybe not chop the girl in half with horizontal framing, the best photos are vertical framing & full body dynamic poses with plenty of room for the girl & background to shine.. And suggest she dance happily in the wet sand... Any focal length lens from wide to telephoto could take that picture & would grace any wall, enlarged, framed & spotlit.. 😊💕🌹
Dude, this video is SOOOOO CLEAN. Literally everything about the editing, photos and vlog parts. New sub! I'm bummed I didn't find your channel earlier!
Watching this just shows that with the right skills any lens can be a beautiful portrait lens! Tempted to get the 35mm f1.4 sigma for my eos R6 now! Thanks for this mate!
I really enjoy these videos Mitch. I love it when you said, "Oh wow the colors are starting to look really good now." I connected with that instantly. One of my FAVORITE things about photography is noticing that when you're on a shoot. All these ideas and creativity just flow through you and it's the most amazing feeling ever. Great vibes, keep it going!
I own the Sigma 24m f1.4 Art - I bought it really in a rush when I dropped my Sigma 20mm and had to get it repaired. I actually use it way more than I thought I would, mainly for video but also for photography where Im shooting someone but need a bit of context to their location. It's very heavy tho. This can be a plus for video as I find holding it steady with my Nikon D750 very easy.
Wow cool...i'm looking for new lens now since i sold my old lens(50mm 1.8g & tamron 70-200mm) coz the telephoto lens is quite heavy, I had a surgery last year and it's inconvenient to use so i sold it and I think this 24mm sigma 1.4 is impressive for landscape and portrait.
My god the creamy/pastel colors are just so perfect! I've had trouble shooting with wide lenses before but definitely got some new motivation to go out of my comfort zone. New subscriber!
Thank you so much man! I’m trying to decide whether the 35mm or 24mm is better. It’s a hard choice tbh. I’ve been shooting with an 85mm, and that can go only so far even for how amazing it is. I’m a big fan of hero angles, so one of these would definitely help more with how close I can get to my subjects.
@@MitchLally Heck yeah man! Think I'm leaning towards that 35mm. I don't want too much disruption in the photo if I'm too close to my subject. But honestly, keep it up man! Amazing content, I could only hope to be in your kind of position someday. I need to go follow your work. Keep inspiring man!
I'd like to see a tighter crop on these. I find there is too much empty space above the model in your images (and the sky is just a solid grey/white, so nothing interesting there). Since you are using the EOS-R, you can use eye AF and have your model's head near the top of the frame. Nice vid.
This is the video style what i am looking for. A lot of sample photos of the lenses and explanations. Perfect..Most of the lens video we are looking at the TH-camr face. You are the best..Thank you...
Prefer the 24 in shoots like this. It has so much depth for those environmental portraits. But for half body shots and versatility the 35 is undefeated.
Really love this. I shoot 85mm portraits and I have a 35mm f/2. But I've been looking for a wider lens as I've ran into situations where the 35mm is not wide enough
When I shot Canon full-frame the 24mm/1.4 II was easily my most-used lens, for pretty much everything. I am similarly enthusiastic about my Fuji 16mm/1.4 although it’s currently waiting to be sent in for repair due to my butter fingers. Really looking forward to the EOS R5/R6 and hopefully giving my 24mm another try.
Love your videos! Watched a lot of them. I noticed you were much taller than the model and many shots are slightly angled down. Obviously I saw you holding it parallel to the ground and kneeling down too. I am only mentioning that seeing the results … I think the 24mm limits on the composition of the picture - if you position the person in the center to avoid distortion then you have a ton of sky without much details and the dividing line is in the middle point of the photo. It is also not lifting the subject from the background because you can still see some details. This really helps me understand that it is not meant to be used for portrait sessions. It takes beautiful pictures especially the horizontal center framing ones towards the end. But it will never be a shot that strikes me. Just my personal preference and I am not even a photographer 😂
These photos are beautiful!! I know people who have the sigma 24 and have had issues with focus accuracy on their dslrs. Did you have any issues with the autofocus accuracy when you used it on your mirrorless camera?
To be honest, there is no versus to do. The 24 mm fits well in this environment and u master this perfectly, it help to make a lot of negative space that frame the subject. For an overall lense I would rather prefer to get close with a 35 mm, Its also large enough to get environment details. There is no bad lense after all, just a style :)
I never thought about getting a lens like the 24mm but I see so many people use it for so many different things, the diversity of it impresses me! I think it would be nice to play around and use it in some of my shoots for different perspectives. Also wouldn’t be a bad lens for self portraits in tighter spaces. Absolutely love your work!
Your videos just keep getting better and better man! Loved the video and the photos you took as well. Also props to Cedrick for the dope bts, I like what he's doing with the angles!
