Engine Air Filter Cost $12 + Stealership Labor Cost $33 (0.5 work hour)= $45 Cabin Air Filter Cost $12 + Stealership Labor Cost $33 (0.5 work hour) = $45 Total Cost $100 after tax (Actual time spent: 10 min). Yet they don't up charge that much for windshield wiper replacement because it does not require popping the hood or popping the glove box.
Depends on where you live. Where I live, the stealership labor is twice to three times that!! This is why we talk about these items because usually you can do them yourself and also in case you don’t want to do them yourself so you have an idea what they look like when they are bad and what a reasonable price actually is. Thank you for brining this up
I would disagree with the flushing of the transmission. A few years ago everybody was pushing that idea but have since realized it is usually not a good idea especially if the car has a lot of miles on it and transmission service has not been regularly done. Many times the transmission worked worse than prior to the flush. Just simply draining and replacing the filter then refilling is nowadays the best option. I know several shops that have the flusing machine sitting idle because they have seen it does more harm than good and nobody wants to buy it from them.
@@GirlieGarage I realize that but the way it was presented on a transmission flush saying if it has been a long time and it hasn't been drained and refilled ( or regularly serviced ) that it might be a good idea but in reality that would be the worst thing to do if it has been a long time and not been serviced. Much better idea would be to drain and refill a few times after short intervals. Flushing a transmission on a car that has a lot of miles on it and maybe never had the transmission serviced could cause all kinds of issues with the transmission. I know some places try to upsell ""services"" which are totally not needed but I don't believe any reputable shop would be trying to upsell the transmission flush. It would just be asking for problems.
Always such Great Information...
