- NICHE NICHE NICHE Harvest Moon DS Cute was one of the prized games from my childhood, only I was never able to get as far in it as I would've liked. So today, join me in the fight to successfully marry the thief Skye in however many days it takes!! I worked on this video for a little over a year (i lost hope many times throughout my playing) so i hope you'll enjoy it and let me know what you think in the comments!!

Yes! I remember the purple heart event was like you have to go to the bar at a certain time AND it has to be Monday AND it has to be raining that day. Like idk how you'd figure that out on your own, and then you have to be lucky enough for it to happen to rain on a given Monday or just keep saving and reloading.

The fact you can get a "best friend" in this game after which you no longer are allowed to marry just screams the "historians will remember them as best friends" meme
Unfortunately you can’t. It was removed by Natsume. They kept the heart events In because they were lazy…but removed the wedding 😔

It's so awesome to see others who had Skye as part of their growing up too. I had a crush on him, had him as an imaginary friend, drew pictures, wrote stories, and could daydream for hours. Through a long series of events, he is even legitimately the reason I went to medical school and now have an MD (through sparking an initial interest in paralysis, which then sparked an interest in neurology, diseases, and pharmacology of the nervous system).

So in Japan there was a "best friends" system where you could essentially marry the 4 special bachelorettes (goddess, witch, Leia, and Keira) and while the ceremony aspect didn't carry over you could experience all of their romance events in this and even attend the starry night festival with them if you aren't married. On the flip side people have made romhacks that just replace the player character in harvest moon ds with the girls from ds cute
But did they edit the Pronouns?
@@asra-5180 there are romhacks for the GBA game Friends of Mineral Town and the DS game Sunshine Islands, they replace the character sprites and the pronouns of every dialogue with the right one depending on what game/character you choose, just search "Harvest Moon True Love"
Only problem is that the Sunshine Island hack isn't finished and might have some errors

I’m like five minutes into this video and I have never related to anything more in my entire life. I was OBSESSED with Skye. I actually wanted to marry the witch though 😭 I was at her house literally every day because I thought she was so cute and I was right!!! It’s a crime we couldn’t marry the girlies

Skye is the only worthy male candidate. I was so pissed when the Best Friends system was cut. I used an action replay to test it too.
I managed to find a rom of the fixed boy version where you can marry the witch princess and put it on my r4 card. Then I no-lifed the game to meet all parameters to marry her and fucking did it to avenge child me who could never do it 😭 the worst part mentally was letting my animals die but the most strenuous was giving her 10,000 gifts. It was well worth it though.
You CAN marry them but it’s called “best friends” lol but they live in your home just like your wife. But you don’t get a kid. But I doubt Rinqueen wants to play that far lol.
I finally was able to marry Kai after over a decade of hardcore playing, and then I overwrit my save data by accident on the day before the wedding :’) you don’t know how hard it is to romance a man who only shows up 1/4 of the year and only loves pineapples
Might buy this game and dedicate my life to trying to clinch Kai in ur honor

I only played the SNES one. And it was kinda simple so I'm glad for that. Newer Harvest Moon games makes it too hard. Me as a kid would never manage.

finally, someone who understands the Harvest Sprite struggle of marriage. I played everyday for 2 years and only ever got 54 sprites. I never married Lumina.

Its a shame they didn't add all those extra characters (IE: Skye, the mermiad, the harvest goddess, etc) to the remake of AWL on the Switch. I would have done anything to marry Skye too lol.

normally a silent viewer but this was such a fun video!!! i loved the harvest moon games as a kid but was too young to properly understand how to complete them and get married… but i’ve NEVER stopped thinking about it ): was so fun to see you actually manage to play the game (and vicariously live through it so thank u) and would love to see more of this series!!!

Oh my god it's so satisfying to watch someone actually make progress in this game because as a kid my whole experience was "wow this is too hard" so I just loaded a bunch of cheats and bored myself out in like a day. I wish I'd given it a genuine shot lmao
The mayor stealing the ball also threw me off every time. You can put it in the shelf, then he won't break in for it anymore. Also: I love your editing and video style. Made me snort laugh a few times. :D

I feel personally attacked by this video. Harvest Moon DS & HM DS cute were my childhood OBSESSION. First thing I ever printed in my life was a guide for the sprites in hopes to collect them all and marry the goddess 😭 but we all know too well how hard like 30 of them are so it ended with Muffy every time 🫠 in HM cute Skye was my only choice too tho. anyway, really happy to have found this video and relate so hard to the playing style (and struggles). This was so much fun to watch, I too played this as a child and went after Skye and Gray ( I had the gameboy game that gave me the option) but OMG those harvest sprites were a pain in the butt. i played this game for the first time last year and yes, skye got me absolutely in love. he's so fuckin charming, cute and pretty that i just couldn't resist.
he's definitely my favorite bachelor of all time in the series, and i really need a remake where i can have a same-sex marriage with him. ♡
i remember i would make curry in the morning, walk over to the edge of town and sit, and wait until skye would come out every night so i could give it to him

The harvest moon games have genuinely always been my favourites. Stardew was like a gift from heaven after a lack of the way I loved them for so long.

im only five minutes in but oh my GOD this video is making me so happy !! hmds cute was my childhood, I was only four when it came out but after seeing a family friend playing it I begged my parents for a ds. I was OBSESSED with this game and it helped me learn to read :,) I wasn't even old enough to grasp any of the game mechanics but I still loved it. I played in on and off throughout the rest of my childhood but only managed to successfully get married once - to gray from mineral town through the gba connection feature when I was 13 - and it was INFURIATING. last year I found a copy of the regular hmds and quit after getting leia to a red heart and realizing I still had like 20 sprites left to go. Im so glad to see a video about this game though, I rarely see it talked about so thank u for absolutely making my day !!
side note - does anyone else really wish they'd have added the hmds characters like skye, leia, keira, etc into the switch remake of a wonderful life?? :( it would've been super cool to see it treated as a crossover of the two games considering they both take place in the forget me not valley !
The timing of this video is actually so perfect, I was gushing about Skye to my friends who had never played DS Cute just the other day and have been wanting to replay the game so I can actually see what being married to him is like (similarly, I crushed on him at like age 9 and didn’t have enough harvest sprites despite getting several years into the game) lmao my friends have also since called me out on him being a formative crush for my type 😅 I can’t help that mysterious and morally grey fictional characters are so attractive. DS, DS Cute and Skye were a big part of my childhood and this video was an absolute joy to watch. Ngl I was surprised with how easy it was to get married in Stardew Valley (so much so that you can speedrun it) because I was used to how long it took in certain Harvest Moon games to get ONE CHARACTER to like me, much less marry me. The games with rival systems especially tested my patience. Truly demented games (i still love them dearly)

I literally just started playing this game again, its so good and your commentary and editing are just chefs kiss perfect. Also, if you really want to marry the girls, you should get harvest moon DS (without the cute). Its the one i always had and you play a guy and can only marry the girls
I had that version too!! I just liked DS Cute because of the little additions (like the outfits, plus I just love pony’s character design)

i thoroughly enjoyed this video.. this was my favorite game growing up, i have so much passion for this one. SO many years of this game, multiple cartriges because they kept breaking, and many trips to fogu and writing down lists of sprites i needed. couple years ago i finally married skye & got the 60 sprites and it was just as fulfilling beating something that was impossible as a child. i loved seeing someone else do it too, its also so cool to see a group of people who experienced the same excitement :) thanks for this video it was a hilarious journey
