The best advice I ever received, went like this:

I never forgot what that 66 year old welder said to me as we ate our lunch on top of the I beam structure we had been working on all year. When I begin to feel like nothing is worth while, or that I'm wasting my time, I think about that old, strong, scared up, tough as nails, iron worker who taught me that if you have something that your working towards like a dream, work is but a way to get there. His dream was to retire, and buy the restaurant/bait shop/boat rental store in a place called "clear lake" in the mountains of Oregon. He passed away last year, after owning and operating that very store for the last 11 years. So if you don't have a dream, go get your self one, quick.

I just found out that my Dad, who is also my closet friend, and biggest supporter, has cancer. I have watched him age ten years in the last ten months. He was, and in ways still is, the strongest person I have ever known. my Dad taught me what he knew, then had the wisdom, and humility to tell me to go learn more. Even when I was a kid, he never got mad at me for taking stuff apart around the house, like the door bell switch when I was 6, he just calmly said, "well son if you saw what you needed to see go put it back together" it was that kind of patience, and encouragement that helped me become what I am now. This song, and video made me cry(only a few drops)mhgmgh.... clears throat....for the first time in a very long time. If any one can beat this thing it's my Dad, cuz I guarantee he thougher than your dad, lol. But really, we need to remember the strong male role models in our lives, we have a shortage of old school men. Be the dad you wished for when you where a kid. Our future depends upon doing so. And remember Men, your leading your family wheather you know it or not, so lead them on the right direction.

I’m a dad of 3 young kids and I struggle to find that patience you said your dad demonstrated towards you. I’ll keep trying though because when my kids grow up I want them to look back on their life and see how much I love and cared about them not how I was always raising my voice, getting upset etc. Once again, thank you!🙏
@@mendoza2489, I have a good feeling that you are going to keep on being an awesome father. I also have three kids, although they are no longer young, they all think they are grown up at 20, 15, and 13. We dad's gotta stick together, and remind each other that it's not easy at times, but with alot of love, patience, and pinch of good luck, we are going to do the right things at the right time. I used to have a hard time remembering that I will loose my temper at times, and have bad days, I learned from one of the men in my church how to let myself off the hook for the times I fall short, because real people have real lives, and life is messy, and smelly, and sticky, and full of broken windows, and notes from the teacher. Also, Man, thank you for your well wishes, it means more than you know. Have a great evening, and don't forget to laugh at your self. ✌️
