I understand the concern about AI art but not really stealing any more than artists being inspired by other artists is stealing. It does create entirely NEW art based on what it was trained on. The issue isn't with the tech itself but with how we monetize art in our society. There's no way to put the technology back once it's out, so it's better to adapt to it and figure out how to use it ethically. As uncomfortable of a discussion as it is the truth is automation is only bad because of capitalism. Automation without capitalism is good because it helps people produce more than they would normally be able to. Maybe AI art will help people who aren't physically capable of creating art due to a disability or loss of function in their body. Similarly other AI should be used to help people but because of our current systems of capitalism automation means loss of jobs/income/opportunity which is obviously not good. My biggest issue with the AI stuff is how we are not ready for it yet. If we were it would be a good thing. Instead it will probably lead to a humanitarian crisis - but a completely avoidable one.

On the one hand, it gives so many people without art skills easy access to a tool that can give them something to work with even if it's just used referentially (It's talked about a lot in game dev circles for example) on the other hand though artists need to survive. The biggest flaw about AI art right now is that is looks heavily distorted and uninspired. There are some people who have taught my college classes that think it's the next coming of Jesus or something which is also wrong. Like It in no way replaces artists, if anything it's better used as a referencing tool to put images to words we write. Like as a writer, I could easily imagine using this tool to enter a detailed description I would normally write for a character in order to give an accurate reference to my artist. I spend so much time either combing through images online or making my own concept art to depict what I want done, and I wouldn't have to do either if I could just enter that information into an AI and see how it looks. What I could not imagine is using it as passable art in a project. At least not in its base form.

Also, you could give credits for like the main artist used and maybe that way it's mutually beneficial - you have an app that people will pay you for to use while the artists get both money and exposure.
